Yea I agree that it's a waste to pay for packaging, but unfortunately if you don't see a nice recognizable package, you probably won't buy a product. The first instinct is to judge the quality of the product by the quality of the packaging, and in itself is a form of advertising. That's what you're paying for: the company's advertising of it's own product.
That may be YOUR 1st instinct but its not mine. in fact its quite the contrary, when i see a modest package i assume them spent more time on the product and didnt care what the package looked like(IMO how it should be).
I am going on a packaging detox this weekend when I visit Lush in St. Louis. I will even bring my own bag and change my original shopping list that contained plastic shower gels and shampoo bottles to shower jellies and shampoo bars :D
Everything to do with food package or wrapping needs to be recyclable,to the point it's refundable
