Every year that I've been in HighSchool we play this song for Christmas. This year is differnt sine I moved. Sad moving your senior year. But yeah this song takes me back to my HighSchool were we play this.
I absolutely love this song. I play the baritone at my high school and we acually have a Christmas consert coming up and this is one of the songs we well be playing. Over the past few weeks I have come to like the song more and more. I mostly like the low brass parts. They sond really good.
Awesome - my middle school band is playing this song for our winter concert coming up. I play trombone. I am 1st trombone, but the trombones here appeared to be playing something slightly different than what we are in our band, even though we're playing the version arranged by Alfred Reed.
Both the Armenian Dances and Russian Christmas Music are "on my list" to program with the St. Cloud Municipal Band over the next couple of years. Good music that bands will still be playing 100 years from now.
I thought part 1 was great when my high school got it, but in the all county band we played part two from 1 all day rehearsal and part 2 is just mind-blowing
We are playing this for our Christmas Concert Sunday. I love Alfred Reed. We played Slavonic Dances last March and I'm hoping we play Russian Christmas Music, soon. I haven't played that since highscool. In fact, it's nice to hear the whole band as a listener, I have only heard it from the flute section! Good job!
One of the musicians in the band actually played this piece back in college with Alfred Reed conducting so he had some special memories of it. Terrific arranger and composer. Some bands just don't play much of his music anymore which is sad.
Oh god, is that a Sousaphone? I bet that guy is angry.
