This music is great, does not matter Macedonian or Greek. I had hear songs similar this one from my Grandparents, they had saved some tapes. Really, if you ask people, only have to ask people from that Region (North Greece or Macedonia) they love them been sing on Macedonian or Greek language. There were Greeks fighting on our side in that civil war too, we can not forget that fact too.

This music is great, does not matter Macedonian or Greek. I had hear songs similar this one from my Grandparents, they had saved some tapes. Really, if you ask people, only have to ask people from that Region (North Greece or Macedonia) they love them been sing on Macedonian or Greek language. There were Greeks fighting on our side in that civil war too, we can not forget that fact too.

To those who argue about who 'owns' Makedonia, I'm an Englishman, a well educated Englishman who happens to live in Northern Greece. Makedonia is historically a part of Greece, end of discussion. True the name actually dis-appeared due to various periods of occupation and the like.

Byzantine writers wroted that slavic tribes collonise and Greece too, not only Macedonia and the rest of the Balcans! They say that all Greece become slavic (barbaric)! This music is known as xalkina (BRASS mode) from the Macedonian region of Florina and Kozani in GREECE. it is the traditional music of the Greeks of Macedonia and have been played for centuries before slavs turks or tartars entered the area. It was recorded in the Aeneid (1st century BC) most notably having to do with Aenids comrade Misenus in the war between the trojans and the Greeks.
Many who migrated to the Balkans have adapted it at different tempos but it is originally GREEK

Okay people, let me clarify this...Alexander the Great WAS Macedonian! His father, Phillip II conquered Greece and was an innovator...Macedonia is an island very close to Greece. They technically were not Greek. Once they took over Greece though, the tiny Macedonia, instead of forcing their ideologies, they just absorbed Greek ideals. When Alexander set to conquer much of the world, he spread the Greek ideas in a process known as Hellenism. This is from memory so correct me if I'm wrong...

Unfortunately the Bong girls do not know that initially the Macedonians were Hellenes. Nowdays they are Slavic but the Macedonians of Alexander the Great were Hellenic. At least that's what the histories say. Even the names of Alexander and Philip are, ethimologically speaking, Greek.

What ethimology? Are words used in common greek today? Is Alex - protect in modern Greek? No. Why not? Because Hellenes and greeks just share teritory, just as we do. Modern greek and ancient greek are as simmilar as ant and elephant.

My dear uneducated friend, nobody denies that there are differences between old Greek and modern Greek, but to state that these two languages are totally different is...not right. True, alex does not mean "to protect", but ANDROS still exists in Greek today. And by the way, there was not only ONE Greek language, there were at least 200 dialects, Macedonian included.

Then why do the Macedonians nowdays speak a Slavic language? As a matter of fact, the language is extremely similar to Bulgarian. The Bulgarians even say that Macedonian today derived from Bulgarian. In any case, the ancient Macedonians were Hellenes. At least that's what the linguistic evidence indicates.
