  • 07:27 How are Charles legs so small when his body is so big? 0_0

  • Joey Santiago is actually a lot like Jimi Hendrix, and what I mean by that is that he evokes sounds from his guitar in a way that seems almost spiritual in context. It's not classical, it's almost more like an evocation. Johnny Greenwood put it perfectly. He attacks the guitar.

  • this band changed my musical direction and you know you have heard that a thousand times

  • why must bono stick his ugly head into decent music?

  • who is the idiot at 7:54?

  • NO. 13 BABY!!! :0)

  • Fuck, I just came across this link and what do you know Super BONO (the biggest egotistical prick in the fucking world pops up at the start) La da dee da dom I'm Bono and you'll find me in every documentary that gives me exposure. No.2 Piece of Shit. No.2 Prick!

  • nooooo not flippin Bono. what a peeeenis

  • Why the hell are Blur even included in this documentary? 'self - loathing' lyrics?? WTF!

  • when you've played shea stadium, made albums (especially mccartney who was a part of the band which INSPIRED Charles) that have raised the benchmark for musical creativity to which musicians of all types try to reach, and get off the cynicism bandwagon...then you still won't have accomplished anything by bashing individuals who rightly praise this great band

  • Joey Santiago is one of my favourite guitarists ever

  • Listening to this is amazing. I've gained a better appreciation for David Bowie actually. Ok, I'm a huge U2 fan, but I seriously get tired of Bono speaking about other artists. He comes across as someone trying to convince others that he's "cool" and "hip". David Bowie on the hand, sounds like a true fan of music. I get to see them tonight in Milwaukee. Can't wait! Cheers!

  • Aye whatever Andy Dunlop, cause Travis sound anywhere near the Pixies. What a bunch of bullshit

  • Why is bono in every fucking music documentary.

  • Santiago- "there were too many stunt guitarists in the late 80s"

    Way too true...

  • @Andre2010 Sadly, there still are.

  • I would not complain if I was trapped in an elevator with PJ Harvey and Kim Deal!

  • Pixies opened for U2 on their Zoo TV tour back in 1992. Jim Greer was a writer for Spin magazine at the time, as well as Kim Deal's boyfriend. He accompanied Kim on that 1992 tour and wrote an article about his observations. According to Greer, the U2 people treated the Pixies like shit. Among other slights, the U2 Organization referred to the Pixies as "Supporting Act" throughout the tour. The U2 band members also could not be bothered to actually get together with the Pixies.

  • so much hate for bono lol.

  • David Bowie is the Voltaire of music.

  • Stfu bono, you shake hands with politicians.

  • Bono is always honest, and sees past the immediate point of view. People usually hate that.

  • LEAVE BONO ALONE!!!! T.T

  • s U r R e A L i S m

  • I like that they put Bono in the documentary. It makes the other people like David Bowie sound even better when they speak.

  • Bowie ,PJ Harvey,Kristen Hersh I've known of their sincere respect /understanding of/for the Pixies and what they mean to music. But Bono & Gavin ? They should find their way to a mountain top or the desert ,and I mean that literally -not as a metaphor, and see if they can find out why they have become posers.

  • David Bowie & Pixies = LEGENDS !!!

  • why always bono :´d

  • Bono embodies the word Gobshite.

  • adam buxton is awesome

  • Bobo, bonko, bonio whatever, you are a bell-end

  • bono es un pendejete

  • Hey is a sexy song,it's not romantic it raw .

  • I wish they'd refer to him as Francis rather than Charles.

  • @spica2501 Frank i fink

  • bono is a f'ing c@nt

  • KIM is so so so sexy! She must be the culmination of womanhood!! Watch her move 09:30

  • yeah david bowie and the pixies are both musical geniuses

  • "there were a lot of 'stunt' guitar players around in the late 80's, i wasn't a fan of that" cut to 5:27 LOL

  • SNIPSTER ROCK!

  • bono is a butt munch. kim deal rules!

  • "Monkey Gone to Heaven" is polished and amazing yes....... but honestly, "Hey" is so guttural and raw.....carnal, and achingly authentic...the fact that a sound this cohesive, could come out of this group during a live performance is just another tribute to their immense talent.

Joey's guitar solo, in this song, should just be called panty-remover.!!!

  • @Gingerblaze There should be no 'but' between any Pixies song analysis. Every song is unique and just as good as the other!! If I start I could go throughout the discography! :)

  • @Pixieonthe7

Touche.. you are soo right! respect each and all as full and complete works withing their own rights.

  • bono sucks, but leave Paul McCartney alone

  • god bono is SUCH a dick! i mean who really LIKES U2!!? uggh..

    LONG LIVE DAVID BOWIE

  • Crackity Jones is my favorite song from Doolittle. It's just out of this fucking world.

Jose Jones, told me alone his stoooooory. He got friends like Paco Picopiedra, la muñeca...

  • @DarkSunshineRain me too! such a good track!

  • @DarkSunshineRain Yeah, I think that's one of their most underrated. Joey's guitar really makes the song.

  • christ on a f**king bike....Bongo die now you motherbanger

  • Throwing Muses whoo!

  • Damn, you can hear so much of where Nirvana got their sound.

  • If Bowie talks, there´s nothing more to say.

  • that Blur guy is zoo fake

  • kiss my ass...that dude makes some kick ass music!

  • @bunnycorcoran2 Blur is anything but fake. Sorry dude.

  • spinal tap moment at 5:40

  • Levitate Me!

  • you know youve made it if Davd Bowie is a fan of your band. hands down, end of story.

  • I agree.. I dont know why people hate on Bono though..he may have an ego but he also did do some stuff that I grew up on in the 80s(The Joshua Tree,Rattle and hum) I thought that that was good as well

  • Hey is an awesome song, but Dead is the one that just hushes the room. That song is probably their most underrated, and potentially their most powerful. The lyrics are also actually very funny. They're essentially lampooning one of countless stories of sin in the Old Testament.

  • could be, but I think I'm speaking for quite a number of Pixies fans in saying that Doolittle is one unit, an inseparable whole rather than a regular album with X tracks, some of which are standouts. It's the album I heard more times in my life than any other, and still had to check which song is Dead...

  • A-levitate me!! That gets me workin' man.

  • leave it to David bowie to explain perfectly what the pixies are all about... levitate me sounded awesome!!!

  • agreed. he seems to have just the right words to describe this incredible sound.

  • "ding ding ding ding (whistle whistle) yeah!"

  • joey santiago its the definition of a TEAM PLAYER

  • Haha, nice analogy. Couldn't agree with you more.

  • cant stand a phoney bono

  • tight, tight , tight.... as p.j. harvey's thingy

  • Doolittle is one of my favorite albums of all time, and Joey rocks!!

  • P.J. Harvey is a fox!!

  • Joey is cool as fuck.

  • fuck up bono

    u fken commercial slut whore

    go write some pop shit

    and make ure moneys

  • how many songs have you written

  • 1267381283710982

  • HAHA..you twat, id like to see yo write something even close to what u2 have!!

undestand.....u2 never set out to be fucking pop!! They became ''pop'' i.e popular because they wrote such good songs. You ignorant cun

  • STEPHEN!

  • eeee uh

    Just coming!

  • Weeeey!

  • do jebenih jaja...

  • ELEVATOR LADY

  • Oh my god, that performance of Levitate Me was phenominal! God, if only I was there. They are just an absolutely terrific live band

  • Whoa! I agree with david Bowie about something! SHIT! Joe's guitar playing, of course.

  • Amazing artists paying tribute here

  • Did bowie have a contact in that made it look like his left eye was dilated or is he a cyborg zombie?

  • he has different coloured eyes no shit

  • he has different colored eyes beacuse as a kid

someone punched him and damaged his iris the injury discolored it.

  • Wrong. It's permanently dilated.

  • Bono is so hated it's really quite amusing. Someone with a lesser ego would have surely topped themselves by now

  • bono is a grade A twat

  • I wish I was as cool as David Bowie

  • Why no mention of Kim Deal? How could they make a documentary where they pretend like she didn't even exist?

  • i heard that she didnt want anything to do with the documentary, or the band. so thats probably why. which make this film a lot more boring.

  • Bono, we dont give a shit what you think ok? You belong in the same discusting elite regime as people like Sting and Paul McCartney, your only job is to think you are god, shake hands with politicians, make horrible albums and then shut up.. We dont wanna hear fake people like you talking about REAL music!!!

  • Well said.

  • thanks :D

  • @bixby1982 what a great reply bixby

  • @bixby1982 You're stuck up by vague info and stereotyped perceptions. Bono may be a horrible musician but you should appreciate that he's a fan. As much as you are. So can you play better than him? I am not a U2 fan but I like that they all admire Pixies. Of course, I am Bowie fan and I am not surprised Bowie is a Pixies fan because they're simply the greatest band to hit planet Earth! I watched them at Brixton 2008. LOVE 'EM!!! :)

  • @bixby1982

I agree. Bono has a problem with his ego. THis is coming from someone who used to be a U2 fan until I discovered bands like the Pixies and realised how much U2 sucks. I liked how in part 2 of this documentary Frank Black said things that were modest such as he didn't really do anything new with the Pixies he just went with something that worked.

  • The greatest and most influential band that nobodys heard of.

Ameican radio corporate assholes and fucking shitty 80's hair band fans prevented this band from achieving deserved exposure and greatness.

    Death to the Pixies!

    LONG LIVE THE PIXIES!

  • @joctheviperp Isn't it great that Pixies never went mainstream? I mean, doesn't it make Pixies what it is in a way? They're people. Money and fame would have ruined them too. Or put them at that risk. No complaints to any corporates or record labels. We love Pixies as they are. They are SIMPLY the best! :)

  • @Pixieonthe7 What does it matter if they didn't go "mainstream"? There are lots of bands from the 60s, 70s, 80s, & 90s that tapped into the maaaaaaainstreeeam and were good. Without those Top 40 radio some of them would hv never made it. The Pixies were on the verge of hitting it big, unfortunately their inner turmoil tore them a part.

Going to see them in Charlotte in a few day. Really looking forward to hearing Doolittle live!

  • how come we arent hearing anyhting from Kim
