  • What was the music called that played at around 6:02 ? It grabed my attention.

  • The black SATA are SATA 3 and not 2

  • I have it but I am out of town until Jan 12th soooooo I will also get a PCIex4 OCZ SSD to also feature when I make a comparison. I have many games on my Steam account but I will feature BF3 Game play.

  • Im buyin it!!

  • Omg he blinked @ 0:09

  • Which is better ? This board or Crosshair V Formula

  • @Hoztag3 crosshair formula V if u got the money for it

  • @peterSTEEZE ??? but this mobo is more expensive then the v formula wtf ???,

  • @tibothenr its $150 on newegg and the formula is like $234

  • @peterSTEEZE lol in my local pc store its 256 for this mobo and 195 for the formula :p

  • @tibothenr get the formula!!

  • @tibothenr lol i looked at it wrong the ud3 is $150...my bad

  • @peterSTEEZE If you have not used it you cannot know which is best I like ASUS but I will not tell anyone what is better if I have not used either

I have this board on the way and should be here by Dec 17th. Soooo I will compare it to the MSI 990FXA-GD80 Motherboard wich is a Kick ass board SOLID. I will also compare them with the 8150 FX CPU.

  • Does it have a HDMI port on this motherboard?

  • @1ongsightboy why would it? if anyone is gunna buy this im pretty sure hes gunna buy a nice gpu along with it

  • @1ongsightboy Nope as it does not have any on-board video it is intended to use only with a dedicated video card.

  • can i have the AMD 1090T?

  • should i get this or the asus sabertooth 990fx for just a well rounded system build with the option to over clock if wanted

  • the main feature and selling point is the sli and crossfire

  • plz can any reply on this can this fit in a NZXT Guardian 921 case

  • @BlueFire240 Yes it will. The NZXT Guardian is a ATX mid-tower case. This board the gigabyte 990fx UD7 is an ATX form factor. They are good to go together.

  • At first i didn't like you but you've grown on me and i feel bad about the nasty thoughts i had originally. Your a great reviewer, thank you for your dedication.

  • Can I put 2000Mhz DDR3 with an 1090T on THIS motherboard??

  • @IRONPLANE12 It will go into O.C. mode. The highest w/o it going into oc mode is 1866Mhz DDR3

  • @MS4Rules My question is: would it work?

  • @IRONPLANE12 Yes it would. And sorry for the late reply.

  • i have this board now its fantastic the down fall is the 2xgfx560ti's nill SLI option in NVIDIA control panal

  • they are both spdif

  • (4:00 min answer) Well AMD would not own 100% of ATI as some of ATI shears are still trading in the New York stock market. AMD and ATI are still two different companies it just that AMD own over 50% of ATI shears which would control there management.

  • is every am3+ board bulldozer ready or is the chipset making a difference?

  • @jonas9009 all are bulldozer ready!

  • hello friend

    I have a question

    which power source you use?

I have a pc like yours

but only I lack the power and wanted to know which is more convenient

and I need to put the processor but I know if I have to put thermal paste?

The processor is the same as yours

    I hope your recommendations

  • can you review the gigabyte 990fx ud3? :)

  • lol if a new motherboard comes you can test it what dreamjob :P

  • Arnt those internal sata ports all SATA 6gb/s its just 6 of them are second gen and 2 are 1st gen?

Will this board run expansion in 16x,16x,8x,8x?

  • @IvorStiffan Yes they Are SATA 6GB/s And They are Thre 16x PCI-e Slots

  • WASTE OF MONEY BUYING UD7 VERSION they still have northbridge externally on amd 900's chipset? just shows how far behind amd is.

  • Don't you just ditch ATI mark like that. AMD should keep it if they know what's good for them.

  • this or sabretooth 990fx?? cant decide.

  • I think the cross gives him the abillity to not blink!

  • Is this a Standard ATX board?

  • $250 GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD7 vs $159 GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3 whats the difference

  • @points2shopPROOF i would say the big difference is the sli / crossfire support, the UD3 only supports 2 cards while the UD7 supports 4, I am building a pc at the moment and am going to the UD3, it all depends on if you plan on buying 4 video cards...

  • HEY HEY HEY! Like i said on Facebook I would LOVE to Cut Vocals on your guys theme song! I sang in a DEATH/HARDCOR ?INDUSTRIAL band and can send u any thing to show u i can do it,. GREAT REVIEW my man. ;)

  • I want to see the BIOS..can you do the video?

  • Yeah but the pcb is made in china, I am still skeptical.

  • When the amd bulldozer will come out ???

  • hey elric, question why didnt you give a SOLID EDITORS CHOICE AWARD on this board? you gave one to the ASUS SABORTOOTHs, but why not this one??????

  • after u told me the price range is around $220~ I'm now stuck in picking this or the ASUS ROG Crosshair V Formula lol

By any chance you can benchmark them both ? :P

  • I dont see lots of space on the PCI slots . What do you think will 4 ASUS 6950 DirectCU II fit to this motherboard ?

  • Quad SLI + AMD Motherboard? BLASPHEMY!!!!!

  • disappointed there isn't a UD9 AM3+ -.-

  • When is this MB coming out?

  • what should i get for hardcore nvidia gaming the new amd ?? or sandy bridge ?? hellppp meee please :) much appreciated

  • @nightsingh Get AM3+ CPU and Motherboard cuz the new one is 50% faster than the Sandy Bridge 2600k cpu

  • @DuyAnh1 what the f**k

  • @TheEGGtech true

  • ultimate gaming board?

  • Anyone know what the music he plays while showing text is?

  • all of the sata ports on this board are 6gbps but the 2 grey ones and the s-sata ports are run off of a marvell controller

  • elric just letting you know it isnt the first chipset that supports SLI for AMD in the socket 939 and 940 time there were a lot of boards for AMD with SLI

for example the K8 diamond SLI board nvidia made chipsets especially for AMD

and crossfire was supported too cause it doesnt need a special chipset but you were limited to 16x 4x

  • Is there a difference between Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7 and Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7 ?

  • i spy a SATA power input next to the sata connectors.

  • I just started folding for MB(dot)org :D

  • This is what I like ! On new AM3 + motherboards you can put older processors ! Great ! Intel made that totally different !!

  • its ment to be use by a AM3+ CPU

  • ahahaha I love how the motherboard says ATI crossfire and not AMD

  • @ChasingFlies cos its made for us awesome dudes who still refer to it as ATi and also according to gigabytes website and sapphire etc, crossfire is still branded with ATi

  • @TheEGGtech Dude im for ATI all the way, I just thought it was funny how they printed ATI since the motherboard just came out and they made the change from "ATI" to "AMD" back in like...september or august..

  • @ChasingFlies yeh but i was saying that crossfire is still branded with the ATi logo, i have no idea why but i guess it would cost a large amount of money to change it.

  • So would a AM3+ mobo with the 890FX chipset would be better than a mobo with AM3+ and the 990FX chipset?

  • @bg048 probably not, since the 990fx supports SLI and the 890 doesnt. and the 990 might support new features. but i dont know for sure

  • ok im really confused does every 900 series fx boards support am3 too? not only the high end ones but also the mid end ones?

  • wtf the old MB had 6 sata3

  • Its True, I mad a mistake ALL THE SATA Controllers are SATA 3, My Humble Apologies...Elric

  • @motherboardsorg waaaaiiiiiiiiiiittt... is it actually all 8??? gigabytes website says there are only six?

  • @TheGrantkaminski it says 8 , its just it has 6 SATA ports on the southbridge and another 2 off a separate controller

  • @TheEGGtech oh, mybad, thanks :)

  • @motherboardsorg I have a Sata 2 Harddrive, can I connect it to the motherboard although it has only sata 3? sorry for abd english.

  • @likesm14 Yes you can use a Sata 2 HD on a Sata 3 port. It is backwards compatible.

  • Would love to see a comparison vid for GB 990FXA-UD7 vs. Asus Crosshair V Formula. 4-way SLI battle!!

  • AMD all way

  • Hey can you also get the Asus Sabertooth 990FX AM3+ Review :)

  • @umarabid2 Just Was Delivered a minute ago so yes yes!!

  • @motherboardsorg how about asus crosshair V formula??

  • @motherboardsorg yay!!!!

  • elric, you should know its pronounced like "jigabyte" and not how you say it "

  • AMD FTW.!!!!

  • Your band kicks ass

  • Piece of shit AMD who dont have tripplechannel.

  • @ThePucko97 Go away INTEL faggot.

  • @ThePucko97 Piece of shit fanboy doesn't even realize Sandy Bridge also uses dual-channel DDR3. You fail.

  • @Understanding343 You should know better than that because i use ONLY AMD. And Sandy Bridge-E already have QUAD channel. I think that AMD performance platform atleast should have TRIPPLE channel like INTEL did.

  • @ThePucko97 i somehow agree with you that the am3+ platform should have support for tripple channel 1866mhz memory to make the platform futureproof, still am3+ has better bandwidth than lga1366 so it's not really bad either.

lga2011 is a server platform just like g34 socket which supports quad channel 1866mhz memory(lga 2011 will support 1600mhz memory).

  • @adolf512 umm i think u mean LGA 1356 and SOME LGA 2011...

  • @TheEGGtech no i dont mean 1356

intel had 3 sockets for consumers before sandy bridge:

    -775(old)

    -1156

    -1366

  • @adolf512 u just stated before that 2011 is server.. but it is also consumer. thats all i was pointing out but anyways.

  • AM3:>yopiiiiiiii thx man:D

  • WHO PLAYS THAT SONG!?!?!

Great review by the way. THx for the clarification.

  • I am glad the Clear Cmos botton has a cover on becasue i can see people gojng for the power button and hitting the CMos switch and ruin there epic OC that they may have. :D lol

  • So will thi take Komodo?

  • I'm torn between this and the ASUS Crosshair V Formula, both great boards, but the Asus is £20 cheaper ($30ish).

  • @tenajnin I would go for ASUS

  • said the coaxial & the spdif in reverse manner i think...

  • 2:31 they support 32GB of dualchannel motherboards :DDDD

  • Anyone know when the EU release will be?

  • This is a killer board and it may lead to a competition with their own G1 series of mother boards i guess!! But still love intel ftw!

  • Pfff i love x58 but it is old now...

  • amd six core QQ !!

  • Hey! u have hitted 25k subscribers!!! when r u going to announce the xfx 6790 winner? I hope to hear from you =)

  • i seen this already stop dubble posting me or i'll snap you cocks off !!!!

  • What is the benchmark song?!?! i always wanted to know..

  • 16x-4x-8x-4x-16x-8x Thats the PCI frequencies if anyone wanted to know

  • Hallo Elric, what is, with your health ? In German: Wie sieht es mit deiner Gesundheit aus ? (Sorry for my bad English)

  • lol its fubby how ti comes with 8 or 10 phases while the P67 has 24,,,

    sb ftw

  • @GameKiller346 Even though I have a P67 platform, I must refute your claims. The amount of power phases means NOTHING. It's the strength + durability of the phases that give them their classification. The Maximus IV Extreme has less power phases than the P67 Deluxe, yet the sheer strength of each phase gives it overall better performing power delivery.

  • @Intel1502 its also better for overclocking, but every AMD mobo comes with 8+2 or 10+2 just like the current high end msi mobo.It doesnt makes big difference,im just saying..Thats why amd boards are also cheaper,,

  • @GameKiller346 I'm sure that is not the case and that the phases have simply been strengthened to allow for less of them on the board. The AMOUNT of power phases shouldn't barely be addressed when looking into the CPU's power delivery. Your evidence is flawed and, your lack of grammar is stifling.

  • @Intel1502 ok i didnt wanted to fight.English is not my main language, and we learn it in shool only 2 hours in a week.So my english sucks but still tnx for telling me.Get a board with less phases and see for how much time u can keep ur 2500k at 5ghz.

  • @GameKiller346 I have, I've brought my friends 2500k to 5GHz, on a P8P67 PRO; do you know WHY? The overclocking capability of a chip will be limited by HOW WELL BINNED THE CHIP IS... Simply having more phases doesn't make a chip stabler, In fact, in cases with HIGHER END, MORE EXPENSIVE BOARDS that have LESS PHASES such as the Maximus 4 Extreme & the Sabertooth will give BETTER CPU power delivery. I could have spent half the $ on my board & still got 5GHz, the CHIP BIN limits o/c range utmost.

  • @Intel1502 Dude this is not what i've read on many sites including reviews. In every review they mentoin the power phases, because they are important if you want to oc.Well good for ur friend. When i bought my p67 mobo, there was one man who bought different mobo it was p67a-ud3.He oc ed his 2500k to 4.6 ghz on CM V6 and after about 1 month that mobo failed for some reason. When he contacted Gigabyte they exactly said that he needs better mobo with more phases,he got UD4 and still no problems.

  • @GameKiller346 And you STILL try an argue that power phases are the only thing in relation to power delivery... -SIGH-... It is obvious that in that situation the power phases design is the same, so more power phases = better, yes. But when you are comparing, for example the Maximus 4 Extreme 8+3 phase design (like I have said numerous times) will give stronger power delivery than the P67 Deluxe 16+2 phase. IT'S THE QUALITY + SIZE OF THE PHASE. This 'one man' should also consider a new heatsink.

  • @Intel1502 its interesting how u just trying to change the subject. He says more phases=better.Your comparing mid range with high end mobo. The overall performance and overclocking is also affected by the other components but the phases have a big role there. The number of power phases greatly affects motherboard performance but also with more phases there is more power avaible for the cpu.

  • @sinan952 Did you not read my comment? It clearly states that the number of phases is only one factor in what gives strong power delivery. Others include, size, materials used in manufacture process, quality, density, frequency, ETC. The board with half the amount of phases is BETTER than the m/b with 16+2 as the phases are much higher quality.

  • @Intel1502 lol Exactly as he said thats the main factor. These days the quality of the phases are the same in every moboBut the phases used in today's AMD's 890 fx chipset for example are clearly better than old 770 chipset's.But its ridiculous to say that Sabertooth has better quality phases than Deluxe. They're both same.

  • @Intel1502 jeez do you even know what you are talking about im gonna break it down for you right now

    1. overclocking is never a garantee

2 overclocking is really dependent on temps, voltages, memory timings, multipliers, and the most important one clean power phases on both the mobo and PSU

    3. some cores will just do better than others

for example i once LN2'd my 550 be unlocked and got it at 6Ghz but binning is important i didnt have 2 bad cores you have a little point there

  • @blamauciXXX 1. I know that, I've pointed that out various times in my argument. 2. What are you trying to prove? You're restating the facts I have just brought up, such as quality of phases > quantity. 3. I know that... =\

  • @Intel1502 im so sorry:p

replied to the wrong one:P you made real good points

  • great board but I will stick with my P67A-GD65. as all ways keep the vids coming bro.

  • What? You already tested MSI 990FXA-GD80?

  • 3:00 they are all sata III 6gb/s ports. this board has no sata II 3gb/s ports.

  • all of the sata ports on 990fx boards are sata III 6gbs. The ones that are grey run on a seperate controller

  • Hey,Elric do you know anything about intel's socket r coming out end of 2011

  • Hey motherboard you miss something from 3 00 to 3 38, there was a ATA connection next to the SATA ports, what is the port? you should tell us al because we would like to know

  • @keiki646 Im going to take a shot in the Dark, but i think that is a SATA Power connector for extra Pci Express power. On the new gigabyte x58 OC edition(Orange board) they have 2 of those for extra power. its alot better alternative then using crappy 4pin Molex Power for pci express

  • wow

  • 220$ in us and 400$ in my country.this sucks

  • Still think it's lame that there is no hardware controlled overclocking

  • @TheFailcast Fanboy.

  • Also, why use a T1090 when T1100 cpu is 10$ more?

  • @motherboardsorg

It says ATI Crossfire because it supports it, also why it says nvidia SLI.

  • Quad SLi and 4 Way SLI are not the same.

    Quad SLI is 2xgtx590

    4 way SLI is 4xgtx580

  • I dont get it why he says that the motherboard only supports two sata III ports when they are all sata III only that the grey ones are from a marvell controller.

  • They are using a Via audio chip...

  • Comment removed

  • I really can't wait till we see Asus's Crosshair's 990FX Formula and its benchmarks against all those motherboards too bad I will be build a Ivybridge PC hopefully by the time it comes out i have enough cash I am interested cause i looking for the highest quality motherboards will be between all these companies

  • 32 gigs of ram ? ( OVERKILL )

  • Yep, I'm getting this board.

  • black are sata 3 the other are sata 3 from a different controller

  • AM3+ WTF!!!!

  • Very well thought of and designed well. Perfectly balanced. Great board.

  • Pretty sure the black SATA ports are SATA III and the other two are SATA II.

  • i want it !! !! !!

  • according to the latest newegg.com video...the aus crosshair V has some funky ass expansion that allows 4 way sli/cf.

  • @ownagedawggy post the link!

  • @xXJOEVXx /watch?v=IT7YSsEFqTk&feature=channel_video_title near end of video, the extension is shown by the asus rep.

  • @ownagedawggy that is ROG xpander card with nVidia NF200 connector. that was first released for the Asus Rampage III extreme and now the newer Crosshair V is also compatible with it. Also Crosshair V has a thunderbolt card as well.

  • @ownagedawggy Asus ROG Xpander

  • can you do a review with SLI benchmarks on this board thanks.

  • Sometimes I just come here for the music. :D

  • so i should not fret and just enjoy my new machine?

  • Seems like a really nice board for the price. I might have to make my next build AMD based.

  • sorry i know this is off topic. I built my new gaming PC yesterday and friend gave me a free windows 7 but its a 32bit. I know i cant go over 4GB of RAm and i dont plan to as this pc is strictly for gaming, but will i be able to SLI 2 gtx 580's with 32 bit? i have 1 580 atm and plan to get a second for SLI later in the year. Does the RAM limitations also include the video ram on GPU's? Thanks in advance!!

  • @BigLeatherJacket no. even if you only had 2 gigs of physical ddr3 1333 or whatever speed ya want-ram chips. v ram on a video card is not affected by the physical ram that is more coherently "LINKED" for lack of a better term to the cpu. only limitations you COULD encounter is depending on your multitasking needs WITH hardcore gaming. example crysis and crysis warhead both use near 2 gigs of ram EACH. ther'es more to it than just that though. but this gives you more of an idea hopefully

  • @BigLeatherJacket More RAM is still good even for gaming, as it means the game can get the full 4GB it can address (unless it's also 64bit, of which there are very few right now) while the OS uses the rest in the background. Also, GPU's VRAM counts towards the 4GB address limit, so however much RAM your cards have will be knocked off how much RAM your system has. SLI works better in 64bit too.

  • Elric, all the SATA connectors are SATAIII (6Gb/s). The black ones are tied to the South Bridge, while the gray ones are controlled by a Marvell chip. Just a heads up, dude.

  • looks great, all black, and is perfect for people who like nvidia videocards :) regards!

  • Are there some AM3 motherboards that will support AM3+ CPUs with a BIOS update? I've read some of the better ASUS AM3 boards will but I'm not sure and if it is true maybe ASUS will drop those plans before the next generation CPUs are released. I have an ASUS M4A89TD Pro/USB3 board.

  • @RottenRroses I think pretty much all AM3 boards can technically support it. Weather the company that makes it update the BIOS to do so is a different matter. ASUS have been pretty crappy at supporting these things in the past in my experience.

  • @TalesOfWar As far as I'm informed AM3 CPUs have 938 pins and the upcoming CPUs have 940. Some motherboard producers have made some of their more expensive AM3 motherboards with 940 pin sockets though to support the upcoming CPUs pin patterns.

I just found out there already is a BIOS for my motherboard to support AM3+, but it is still beta and I couldn't find anything about a release date for a final version. So maybe ASUS already abandoned its plans to release said BIOS.

  • What's the name of the song played during the benchmarking-results? :p And where can I buy it? (Live in Norway:P)

Looks cool, but would this be cheaper alternative with AMD Phenom II X6 1100T than Asus Maximus IV Extreme with i7 2600k? Also, would this be way more powerful than my current build?
