Harper is driving the country backwards. He is arrogant and careless of issues such as the environment, human rights and foreign affairs. All he seems to care about is making Canada a greater "superpower" in the world. The only reason Harper is in power is because he's a great liar. He is, and he isn't, keep in mind that the conservatives in Canada, are more aligned to the Democrats than the Republicans in the US, we as a country are more left leaning than in the south. And I am not a fan of his policies and I think, specifically in terms of environment, his party's platform is the wrong way to go. However there are people who feel it is appropriate.

for me it's more what the conservatives don't say is scares me. and well, the conservative party in general is fine, they have quite a few points I agree with, but Harper is the one I'm most concerned with, they way I see it he's a Canadian version of Bush (jr.) but that's my opinion :)
