  • omg they compare a 945g with ion ?????

why they don't compare it to 4500mhd, it 3x better than ion.

  • @DeadZone871 Gma 4500mhd is 3x much crapper than ion,for gaming no way,for HD playback it struggle and I cant open other app,I got ion notebook,it can run COD4 and HD video at the same time.Besides gma took your ram which make more slower.

  • iim pretty sure the GPU is only 256mb of memory..took forever to find that info out...netbook are gonna be sweet in anohter 2yrs...but tablets will be right on there ass...esp now intel is gonna make cpu's for them...

  • 1080p youtube still lags tho???????????

  • "The way it's meant to be played" is definitely not on a netbook anywho...

  • @teatime90

    Forget it, looks choppy.

  • Intel is not for gaming, gaming cards don't need a compatibility list like their gpus do. I had a x3100 and it used to lag in counter strike 1.6. For the 4500mhd intel promised a 3 times faster gpu, but 3 x 0 = 0.

  • Intel is not for gaming, gaming cards don't need a compatibility list like their gpus do. I had a x3100 and it used to lag in counter strike 1.6.

  • all we need is a quad core atom 2.8 or a tripple core 3.2 atom with an ion 3 fermi (128sp + dx11) on the 28/32nm fab and we'l be sorted. :p

  • @prankmypants yes and the battery would last about 30 minutes

  • If they make them cheaper, i'll buy a netbook just to play my favourite games (from doom3, hl2, freelancer, assasinscreed) I don't play many demanding games, but i want something better than the slideshow 945GMA showed me until now.

  • GMA 950?

I'm surprised you could even get some of those running on that.

The GMA HD could play those games.

  • @Usul573 With 5 fps definitely

  • @Xmisterhu

Nah, the best GMA HD can do around 30 or 40 FPS for a lot of games, Batman, Dragon Age Origins.

Still not a good idea for serious gaming of course.

  • @Usul573 According to pcgamingcorner's test (the first I've found on google) , the avg. fps is around ~15 in most games which is unplayable, 30-40fps would be perfect for me, in fact I'm happy with 25-30 too, so I'll stick with my ION netbook, which can handle these around 25-30 ( especially with overclocked CPU ).

  • @Xmisterhu Oh do you mean the GMA 500? Or the GMA 4500MHD benchmark?

The latest one called the GMA HD is better, still not that great though. It's the one integrated into the CPU.

  • @Usul573 No, I mean the 4500MHD. You can see it on notebookcheck[dot]net gpu comparison too, only a really few games could reach 30 fps with that.

  • @Xmisterhu Yeah the 4500MHD wasn't the best. Still, it was an improvement. The newest ones are way better for video and can be around twice as good at games. Still not for a serious gamer though.

  • @Usul573 Yeah, I see, the new ones are not so far from the ION(9400M), which is really good from an Intel GPU. But still, there is space to evolve.

  • @Xmisterhu

Always more work to be done.

  • got a current gen netbook i am waiting for atom ion 2 to be honest,as it will be even more quicker!,and as the ion 1 can almost,Almost it was so painfully close to doing it, run crysis, other big games, etc ( in the right way) should (fingers crossed:P) run it.

  • I really would like that Nvidia also focused his products for being compatible with linux operating systems, making the code for that system fully open source. That way I would not doubt to buy an EEPC with ION.

  • What makes you say that they don't? I think Nvidia's linux' support is far better than Ati's. I'm considering a netbook based on the ION myself. And ofcourse I want to run linux on it. Is there a reason I shouldn't? I've been running Nvidia linux-drivers on my desktop for over 5 years, with no mentionable problems...

  • @kenjuma

Don't take my comment as a fight between Ati or Nvidia. I really like Nvidia, but in the case of drivers, they tend to make them proprietary and not open source, thing that sometimes complicates the use of drivers for certain linux distributions. Anyway I am looking forward to find an "IONized" EEPC that is very low consuming and has a long lasting battery in order to make some programming there. But at the moment I'll keep watching.

  • I also didn't comment as a fight between Ati or Nvidia. I ust said that I have good experiences with nvida-drivers on Linux. That's also the reason I went for Nvidia-cards for my desktop. The drivers are indeed closed. Are the Ati-drivers open-source?

I use to have a Matrox-card on my work computer (Debian). Also proprietary drivers. I don't really care about the drivers being proprietary or open source. I don't feel the need to adjust anything (wouldn't know how either).

  • Anyway, just to be short: About a year ago, everyone in my environment said that for Linux, nvidia had better support for their cards than Ati. Ati just came around being on nvidia's level on windows-systems. And this because Ati had the better product and were forced stop slacking.

  • Hahaha. Again asking me for ATI? I know nothing about ATI drivers, and at the moment I have not interest. I have always bought nvidia cards, and I like them, so at the moment I'll keep with them. I just would like that nvidia would be more friendly with the open source comunity. Now I like Nvidia. If they released things under some kind of GPL license, then I would not like Nvidia, I would LOVE Nvidia.

  • Aha, in that way. Well, I think you can wait a long time for that, since Nvidia can never guarantee that your card remains at 100% if they allow people to play around with the drivers. It would be like stating in the warranty-terms that overclocking is allowed. The general user will never be able to come further than just tweaking the drivers like was done in the Omega-releases.

  • Ahaha now i got a nForce 750a based chipset motherboard by MSI, nVidia 9400GT 1gb about to move up to 9600GSO in dual SLI, gonna buy a Cooler Master case nVidia edition what else is needed =D (except psu ram n hdd)

  • ITS STUNNING!! I NEED IT! ITS EVERYTHING!!

But.. theres no Netbook with Nvidia ION.

  • i'm holding one right now.. HP MINI 311

  • FUCK you nvidia! integrated graphick CAN run cod4 ~gma x3100,x4500

  • Not on a netbook it can't.

  • Those are really good netbooks. Way better than the rest.

  • Ya, but soon will be dual atom right? Selling mine right now to update it ^^

Is there anyway to install 3gb ram into it?

  • The ASUS Eee PC™ 1201N has the dual core Atom and Nvidia's ION.

There is one empty RAM slot that can hold 2GB of DDR3 laptop memory.

  • lol crashed

  • Does anyone know which laptops (or nettops) come with the ion GPU. I prefer one with at least the 9400m gt but if an integrated card can do this I'm not complaining.

  • yes

the point of view mobii ion pc and netbook =)

  • i dont get it is ION a GRAPHICS Processor the thing inside the graphics card or a CPU processor? im so comfused

  • ion is the name of the graphics chipset. nowdays and and future applications can be enabled to use the nivida ion to make things run better. im so wanting to one one now,but id like it in the upcoming netbooks that will have the ion platform in them,so excited haha.ill prob have spend the money on a vid cam :(

  • It's separate from the CPU and the main GPU. It's adds shaders and does something with some new technology to make 1080p possible. It adds enough shaders to make it able to play these games.

  • cod 4 is not a good example for this it would get unplayable framerates but source games would be fun

  • Someone please destroy all of the Atom CPUs in the world and replace them with ULV Core2Solo.

  • that was clearly vista wow expected better from nvidia

  • why would any1 want to play game on an Atom processor?

even though that's so cool that they actually made it possible

  • pretty cool :)

  • AMD's getting their asses handed to them now

  • Nah, be carefull with what you say out loud. They've been verry quiet for some time now, i wouldnt be surprised if they are cooking something good in their top secret underground labs. Dont forget how everyone thought AMD was done for a fews years ago and then suddenly they came out with the athlon which was a lot better than the intels at that time.

Also keep in mind they bought ATI, so they are defenetly cooking something ;)

  • That's very powerful.

  • How can someone compare two setups with different hardware let alone different software? And windows 7 actually looks like vista........tsk tsk look at the taskbar. LOL :D

  • the competition didnt even have a gpu nigga this shit is fake

  • lol... what's a appoimt of playing cod 4 mw if it's lagging as hell, sure u can run it but there was barely 20 fps whown there, it's unplayable, what's a point oO

  • xsonicbladex

    your a little off.

Alienware has GTX280's in SLi in there laptops.

  • Call of Duty 4 was lagging hardcore.

  • Its only a 9400m GPU.

  • ONLY? This is one of the best laptop and ultra portable GPUs in the world. I play crysis with medium settings on that thing.

  • alienware are way better... research alil more about computers buddy... alienware can fit 2 4890s in a laptop dumb fuck

  • Notice the size, weight, price and battery life "dumb fuck".

  • PFF PFF PFF doesnt matter about the price.. you said a laptop with a 9400GM is one of the best in the world.. hHAHAHAHA alienware KILLS it.. you can upgrade from alienwares website to longer battery you fucking idiot..

research.. research.. more research.. padawan cunt

  • You're not older than 12, are you ?

  • if i wasnt how do you think i know so much more than you stupid people.. idiot it just makes me soo pissed when people are ignorant and think they are the kingshit with computers...

  • Well, you don't seem to have a brain older than 12 years old...

Especially that comment about knowing so much more. Clearly an ignorant kid.

  • Well you must have a 12 year old brain then. That comment about knowing "so much more" proves it.

  • kk faggot whatever you say kingshit

  • @0mfgitzBiafor3 The typical "I know everything about computers(btw. do you know for example what iptables is, or function overload, or L2 cache, etc?), and my father buys everything for me, so I don't care about money" kid.

Yes, you could upgrade the battery, and your power bill, will be "upgraded" too(Sorry, you don't care, you don't pay for it).

And by the way, I think the alienware is soooooo ugly...I can't even watch it for more than 10 seconds..

  • @Xmisterhu kk rich fucking soc. did your dad also teach you how to earn money? fucking shit fuck.

  • Have you noticed the price, weight, size battery life and portability?

  • alienware is made by dell and we all no dell sucks burn baby burn if you catch my drift lol

  • alienware is owned by dell. its a seperate company with seperate factorys.

  • Well he said COD4 was lagging so I merely said that it was ONLY a 9400m. A 9400m is a great GPU for ultra portables no doubt and still decent for regular laptops.

  • Alienwares are not normal laptops, the 9400M are good for normal non gamer laptops, even for moderate gaming it's fine, and for the price... WOW.

  • Finally! I've been waiting for a comparison video for a long time!

  • NV4Life!!

  • Nvidia just do the next GPU's Directx 10.1 Compatible, because ATI already have it, and there is a huge fps more with 10.1 ...

  • 1. There isn't a "huge" performance gain. It is about 10% over DX10, depending on setup/game

    2. Nvidia are already making DX10.1 mobile chips and are set to make 10.1 dektop cards in Q3 this year

    3. There are very few games that support it

    4. DX10, along with DX10.1 sucks anyway. Horrible fps hit for barely noticable effect

    5. DX11 will be out in a few months, there will be little point of even buying a 10.1 card when the API will start to become outdated so shortly

  • OMG you are really a pro on what hardware is :D

  • awesome :D hope to get a notebook with ion soon
