i am so glad she's home. i was only 9 and i remeber everything. there was actually a time when she could have escaped; mitchell was arrested and she was left with barzee. barzee actually left her alone by herself to go to a different campsite. she was probably too scared or maybe she suffered from stockholm syndrome, because earlier she did escape and she almost made it, but mitchell caught up with elizabeth and said if she did that agian, he would kill her and her whole family.

She didn't cry out because her kidnapper was RIGHT THERE with her brandishing his long sharp knife & threatening to kill her with it if she screamed. & Erica Pratt didn't have that problem because her kidnappers left her alone & never watched her. Also, Smart's kidnappers had her tied to a tree with a wire cable & you can't chew thru that, whereas you can chew thru duct tape, which is how Pratt got away. BTW didn't it take Pratt 24 hrs. to break free?

There was always one of them watching her. She was never left alone until one day in February 2003 while in a homeless camp in California. It wasn't barbed wire it was a wire cable attached to her ankle to a tree, & she was 3 1/2 miles from her house for the first 2-3 months. Her kidnappers weren't unarmed crack addicts like Pratt's were, they were armed psychopaths. Elizabeth's kidnappers raped her. Pratt wasn't harmed.

All of our hearts go out to these babies who have had to go through these terrible hardships. Shawn looks great & it truly is a miracle that he is moving forward as he is, with his family by his side. I am glad to see that progress is being made (DNA evidence) in the Ramsey case and that Elizabeth has grown up so well. It's wonderful how lovely she is, she is a survivor and her father is a hero for turning the difficulties into something productive. Great show Oprah.
