@libetta A bit of both, actually. In Japan it was called GoLion, but it was sort of... Americanized when brought over here. They made it into the Voltron we know and love!

Because back in the day no one would take animation or super heroes seriously. It was much easier to market it to children. And, you know, they wanted to make money, so they pretty much had to.

They better bring Justice to this Voltron Movie coz I think the trend right now are doing the best cartoons in the 80's to movies but transformers is such a disappointment coz it's not even transformers like the plot and the character development before

Voltron is one of those masterpieces in the 80's if they just for the heck of it do it just for money all i can say is have some respect with the original creator of it coz the plots before were really good & u could really feel the characters

If they keept the story, man then that would be the perfect 80's anime.

Im not agaisnt to change the names or the music(Europe and USA has difrent "coltoure" then Japan,back then for how a music should be for those kind of animes)

But keep the story the same,I dont like when back then they change the story to be more suiteble to kids.

When I was wach th original version I was supriced for how many of the point of story was change!

Voltron Defender Of The Universe the the English dub from the anime King Of Beast's Golion.

In USA dub they have Gallaxy Garisson,in the jap version the Earth is detroyde by World War 3 and no Garisson.

Changes like this was that made Voltron/Golion less dark and brutal and more suiteble for kid in the rest of the world.

In Jap version Voltron has lot of blood and cruel scene and there is no "Stun Gun" at all,all gun there kills.

As for the dvd's of Lion Voltron this is what was on tv

As for Vehicle Votlron(Dairangu), its no relate to Lion Voltron/Golion.

That was Wold Event's idea to bring 3 difrent mecha animes and make them trilogy of Voltron

Yes, it certainly is! That is none other than the voice of Peter Cullen. He's best known for playing Optimus Prime, but he did voiceovers for many other shows in the 80s. Good ear!
