In early summer when higher pastures are finally snow free all cattle of a village are driven up there. Every year these cows fight to determine the lead cow of a herd.

Coming back to the villages in autumn these fights between different "herd leaders" were held just for fun of the villagers and tourists.

Big money bets are an important part of the fun.

I have a farm at home, and i have often seen cowns and bulls fighting each other and i have never seen any of them being badly hurt

There were only scratches and once one of my cows even lost its horn, but it grew back, the only thing that suffers here is cows pride.
