Nearly got bitten by one of these in Jacksonville Florida in an ex-girlfriends front yard. She had threw a rock at it and when I seen it I thought it was a baby corn snake from it's coloration. After looking at it closely I seen the streaks of red, and red means warning. So using a paper brown bag the snake crawled inside for safety, Upon closer inspection it turned out to be a baby Pigmy. After checking the area further I found 5 more of them. One was to aggressive to capture.
@DuncanGermPro I have the same problem with spiders due to a childhood trauma :p I really try to understand that they're not dangerous (at least not here in Belgium) but it's just the way they move and their hairiness that freaks me out.
I love snakes though, planning to get a tattoo of a corn snake (which I'd love to have as a pet one day) but both may take a few more years because of lack of money and practical issues.

Hopefully you'll be able to appreciate the beauty and elegance of snakes.
I have seen many pymy rattlers much larger than fourteen inches , im sure i have seen them twice that size, it is a very common snake here in osceola county fl
Actually, this snake gets much larger than this video states. One eveing on a levy @ the Fakahatchee Strand, I saw 100s of pigmies of vairous age and patterns. All obviously same species. Only the small ones keep the pattern.. then it begins to fade. This species can get to at least 2 feet long, but because of faded to no pattern, it is confused with cotton mouth. The name PIGMY is a misnomer because of pattern only on young snakes.

Wow, talk about your poison ivy. Note to self; if ever in Florida, avoid the garden section of Wal Mart.

This is the one rattlesnake that i have not seen with my own eyes. I really need to got to Florida.

@SJSSocoms Well apparently you don't even need to go hiking in Florida to find this snake. Just check out the local Wal Mart.
"Yes, I was wondering if you have any pygmy rattlesnakes."

I heard a guy got bit braching into plants at Kmart in FL, was it by this snake?
1andonlyCobra 2 years ago 6
That is possible because these snakes are such small.
But there are also sometimes not venemous snakes in plants of big marts. But rare.
In earlier time 60s/70s etc... snakes and big spiders were often in/ between the big bananas/plants when they came with ships here to us.
But that´s over because they froze them now too much on the way.
hoffmann9471 2 years ago
dont know what kind but it was a rattlesnake
dalejrredneck88 2 years ago
I'm not sure that it was at kmart but yes one guy did get bit by this snake while going through plants at a store

@1andonlyCobra that was at the walmart in silver springs and yes it was by a pygmy. my dad owns the dairy queen right next door!
MudDobber247 1 year ago
@1andonlyCobra It was either that or a copperhead, as they tend to show up in gardens and flower pots the most.
