Marinell, thank you for sharing about your gifted Aunt Renee. She had perfect pitch. This song meant a lot to me, too. I played it over and over. I also have a couple of other records from Renee Roberts on Phoenix, but this is the classic.
My Aunt also, my Father's Sister & my God Mother too. It's so cool to hear her voice again ! We used to sing this all the time together. Wow, Childhood memories are rushing through me. Thanks for finding this G !
This bubbled under in BB in 1/62. Roberts was from Chicago but this label was in the Milwaukee area, so she is included in my book, "On That Wisconsin Beat". She had 4 releases and I have some background on her, but I've yet to find her, don't know if she's still around.
Renee Roberts performed this beautiful song on TV, on "The Buddy Deane Show", in Baltimore. The song was on local charts from mid-February through the end of March, peaking at #10 on WWIN, the week of March 5-11, 1962.
well records seem better as usual. this is a groove. cd's go on analog may get errors or sumthin but records stay there on the vinyl forever. the singer's nice voice somewhat got immortalized on vinyl. r
Wow, so you knew this song in 1965. Yes, as young and in love we do sentimental things like send the girl, the love of our life, then, the lyrics, hoping she may either come back or know how much she meant to us, or a token memorie. I once gave a lost love the record "Happy Happy Birthday Baby", after she went with my best friend. How ironic as an adult, we all kept in touch and she contacted brain cancer. She gave me all her records as a passing gift including "Happy Happy Birthday Baby."

@This is my aunt Renee. She died in 1983 of cancer. She was my god mother and my mother's sister.

Yes she does. Wouldn't she do well today on American Idol? Thank you JC for commenting.

@rweerakkody4565 ...have to disagree. Vinyl warps, cracks, pops, skips, and grooves wear. Digital is far superior, great storage.

@allycool62 : There was "national " chart action on this song. It made #112 on Billboard.

Ah, bubbled under at 112. Billboard is known for top 100. Glad for Renee and her continued slew of fans that have heard this record on You Tube.

You were NOT listening to WLS.. it hit the Silver Dollar Survey 3/31/62 and made it up to #19 here IN Chicago!!!

You're right, I wasn't. Glad to hear she did so well in Chicago. SF Bay area should have taken a lesson from the Windy City. Thanks for the comment.

And right or wrong short or long you belong only to one who really needs you so.
And right or wrong short or long I'll wait for the day you say you really need me.
I'll wait till snowflakes hover for you.

I sent this song's lyrics to my girlfriend in 1965 after she moved. But she broke my heart anyway.
