If you like John Lennon, then you may very well like KOZMIC DREAMERS whose artistic vision and expression, defines them as one of a kind. Buy one of the songs or poems on iTunes.
This was the first time I heard this song when Live in Japan came out as I had never gotten Somewhere in England. And then when Let it Roll came out I was shocked at the 'negative' version. This one was much nicer especially the line about saying a little prayer for John. (the other version of not saying a prayer was mean but then I guess they were fighting)
This has to be the only video of George performing this song. He even didn't even lip-sync it for the promo video - that was entirely pics and video of John during the Beatle days. Oter than this tour, George rarely played live after John was killed. Mostly a few guest appearances, like the Prince's Trust or when the Beatles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
damn.... I get shivers down my spine just listening to these words.. not that the song's scarry... it's just that it gives a good feeling inside... how a good friendship could last even after death....
Cool post. Nice to see George performing his hit in honor and tribute to his fallen comrade, Mr. John Lennon, M.B.E. Rest in peace, George and John. Rest in peace.
@Berenueve You're absolutely right, he was the most gifted of the Beatles but also the most down to earth. Of the very limited amount of his material he did release on Beatles albums, every single one of his songs became major hits. Ask anyone to name 3 classic Beatles songs and chances are they'll mention a Harrison song.
@Berenueve I can agree with that. George is my personal favorite, I've always had an ear for his music, from his early work with the Beatles all the way to 'Brainwashed'.
Thank you very much for posting this awesome footage. I had heard little bits here and there for many years of George playing this song. I mean, it was an indescribable sentiment that I felt on that Dec 8th, but for someone like his closest friends and relatives to have to bear that dastardly time, I just feel a lotta sympathy for them. The grief in the song and how to say goodbye ... very very tough for anyone to do... bless all relations who lost someone so suddenly who posted here.
@frostclan71 no there is no proper footage- Warner Bros. did film it but never released it on DVD- only a cd soundtrack of the Japan tour exists plus bootlegs like this
queenswingswhatever, you are so wrong. yes, clapton played the solo on "while my gtr gently weeps" but he didn't play the solo on "here comes the sun", first of all, there is no solo on that song, but george played the solo for something live while the strings were being over dubbed.
Beautiful song. a fitting tribute for 1 of hte greates men ever musically and morally- John Lennon was truly amazing it's sad nobody listened and now it's too late to change the many worldly mistakes. I somehow like this tribute better than Paul's tribute to John "Here today" it just adresses the issues and shows hte love more than Paul who kinda said he was like everyone else in that he didn't understand John's messages of peace--although all 3 Beatles did play on this song originally
@crazy4paulmccartney yes- George wrote this for John after John was killed, and on the record/Cd Paul and RIngo played with George on this song- all 3 united to pay tribute to John and Paul did his own tribute to John called "Here Today" later after George died Ringo wrote a tribute for George called "Never Without You" (but not Paul), and both Paul and Ringo as well as other famous friends of George's played at the Concert for George in 2002- a memorial/tribute to George's whole career
@FrightWolf...sorry this video isnt as amazing as the Academy Award films your spitting out every night. If you were as great as you thought you were you wouldnt be promoting your amateur vids on youtube. Have a nice day:)
My brother just killed himself last month. He just couldn't deal with the world, he was so sensitive. But he always found solace in listening to the Beatles. I listen to this and i feel he is still around. Thank YOU! George, John, Paul, Ringo and of course LookingForMyLife for posting.
@flukehead Very sad to hear about your brother, as my sister met with the same fate. The Lord saved me several years ago or I would have succumbed to death as well. Hope all is well and God Bless,
What a fantastic guitar solo at the end of the song. I can't understand why there isn't any kind of DVD version of this amazing concert. George was an absolutely genius. Rest In Peace
Whenever an ex-Beatle performs, I wonder if they ever think about a time where when they announce their song, the fans would all scream. The crowd seems much calmer, I wonder if they notice. (:
Paul McCartney was interviewed by Johnny Carson. Carson asked if he missed the craziness. Paul answered that after all the time they had it, and couldn't appear anywhere in public, he didn't miss it. On top of that, he had children at that time. It was fun while it lasted, then they grew up and moved on.
why the hell wont they release the complete "live in japan" concert on dvd? all the george harrison fans want to see it,thank goodness for little gems like these, thanx for posting
@chancebf324 I know- every Paul concert has a DVD or bootlegand so do the Beatles- everyone ignores George and Ringo sadly even tributes which are important to people
You said it "rocksinger45"...RIP both of them, but, George was my favourite - very quiet & soulful, I'd say a 'lovely' person if I'd been old enough to meet him.
@TubeTimeMovies the guitar solo is done by Eric Clapton- who also does guitar solos on Here comes the Sun, Something, and more Harrison solo years songs
@QueenBeatlesWings Eric Clapton didn't play on Abbey Road, which Something and Here Comes the Sun are on, at all. He only played on While My Guitar Gently Weeps on the White Album. Clapton did play lead on some of the live Harrison songs but George played a lot of solos on this tour as well in fact George plays the solo on Something live, the first one, with Eric playing the second solo that follows George's. Live While my Guitar Gently Weeps always featured both of them..
great video. harrison may be dead but his music still lives on forever. i love this song and many others including my sweet lord and got my mind set on you. I hope they release a collection of all his greatest hits soon
I miss you George, you are my Idol, great song, you are the man, if there is a heaven you have to be there if you are not there i don`t like to be there
Shouting all about love, while they treated you like a dog. Pretty much pinpoints the shameful reaction to Lennon's peace activism at the time. He was revolutionary. And well done George for such a lovely song. RIP John Lennon and George Harrison.
Paul should have did this at the Concert For George!!

This was a beautiful tribute from George to John. I always get emotional when listening to this song.
"Living with good and bad, I always looked up to you", "deep in the darkest night, I send out a prayer to you".
