I'm a niner fan and watch every game Vernon is a fantastic blocker but has hands of stone, he could have a bunch of yards but he just doesn't hold onto the ball.

He's on a Mike Martz offense now which essentially never throws the ball towards the tight end, which is sad because Davis is a freak and could put up big numbers year in and year out, he should be getting a lot more passes thrown his way.

SouthernKatt30 is right. Kellen Winslow Sr. did redefine the position. Plus, he was a better tight end than his son will probably ever be and that's saying something. In addition, he's still the only tight end to ever lead the league in receiving yards and he did it in consecutive seasons.
