Thanks for filming this kinchieman. I can remember Millerhill marshalling yard being built in the 1950's with coaling towers and all sorts. It was state of the art all to be wasted at the end of the next decade. Hey ho!
@a20rkn Seems that way, but simple economics at the time demanded it be closed. The tweed miils of the borders had all-but disappeared, there was little work to be had, and meanwhile Henry Ford's lumps of tin with rubber wheels had become the fashion choice of the many, and petrol was only 8 bob a gallon!
Thank goodness it's getting under way at last. After the fiasco of the trams, this needs to go well, and with good jobs done at Bathgate and Alloa can happen.
I was there yesturday, now there is a single line heading away towards the trees, looking like it wants to be connected to the turnback siding! Good video!
First stop is a new station at Shawfair on the old Monktonhall colliery site, less than a mile from where the video was taken. Then Eskbank, Newtongrange, Gorbridge, Stow, Gala and Tweedbank.

I was on the Deltic trip at the bitter end of this line.

This railway should never have closed in the first place.
