Most of the Lizards singles were covers and their final album 'Top Ten' was all covers. But there were a lot of original songs on the first two albums. 'The Flying Lizards' and 'The Fourth Wall'. If you search on YouTube you can find some examples - try 'Hands 2 Take', 'Her Story' or 'Lovers And Other Strangers'.
The `80's were NEVER dull, unless you're talking about the beginnings of rap and the continuation of disco. side from the `60's and maybe the `40's, it was the most musically creative decade ever!!
After the `60's, the `70's were a TOTAL drag!!!!
Have any of you ever heard the flip side of this single? It's basically part two of the same song and is also very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very......
I Love this!!! Shes so cool taking the rip out of everything! Works well as a track like their other work. Ive been coming back to their stuff! detached brilliant voicing! Wollewolfson put it perfectly.
The singer's name is Deborah Evans-Strickland. She also appeared on the big Flying Lizards hit "Money", but this was the last record she made with them; some later Lizards tracks feature a soundalike called Sally Peterson. Deborah returned to recording in 2003 as a guest vocalist on two rather terrific tracks on Richard X's album "Richard X Presents His X Factor Vol. 1" - a very Lizardish version of "Walk On By" and a delightfully mad original number called "Lemon/Lime".
its such a great song and such an odd song! - such a great odd song! (or is it an oddly great song?) Just gotta love that driving synth bass, the rattly drums, the cool casioesque organ, the ridiculous guitar solo and the mad fake trumpet parts, the lovely ironicaly detached voicing and the lyrics as well. It all ads up perfectly to something that's just very, very , very ...eh...very?
Hmmmm. She's such a Lady.

I still blame MTV for wrecking New Wave and turning it into the music of mall rats.
