  • Hey, I watched this show and loved it!!!! Is this facility still standing or did they finally demolish it???

  • wish it was still up iv always wanted to go.

  • Very well done. Excellent fact checking. Thank you.

  • i grew up near this place.my dad lived right down the street and has told my crazy stories from what he experianced.

  • omg i literally live 10 minutes away from where it use to stand ive traveled some of the tunnels it was a cool experience

  • Sucks that they tor it down YES but there still is that building on the other side of southampton thats all borded up, probably hard to get in!

  • sucks they tor it down a couple years ago i always wanted to go in there i live a mile from wher it was

  • being from a neighborhood very close to byberry, we used to roam those halls at night....and have keg parties....i'm more creeped out now than i was back then.....kids have no fear!

  • Man.. Those kids were fucking lame.

  • Yeah... In Russia i was 6. I had my tooth ripped out without any novocaine either lol! Just a huge spike ripping out my tooth.

  • Who is the guy with the accent? He doesn't have a kind word for anything and watching your second episode, if he whines get rid of him.

  • I'm not sure if you guys were aware of just how dangerous the 'Berry could be. The place used to be crawling with vagrants, and they generally did NOT take kindly to outsiders.

  • As a nurse, I have to say I have serious concerns that you guys put your health at risk in a building like this! Filthy water, asbestos, you guys are not wearing any type of protection!! Guys seriously please at least invest in masks.

  • Female Criminally Insane? Cut me a break. We had only males on Forensic. N8 was female admissions and male admissions with male forensics. The female unit was at Norristown and Mayview. Get your facts straight. Snort.

  • Radical Ed yeah I saw him on the site Opacity!

  • haha. i cant believe it.. i put on your trailer to this show and i see my WELCOME TO INSANITY, NOW YOU DIE spraypaint i did waaay back in 1996. in fact, i did a lot of those names in there. glad to see a documentary on Byberry before they knocked it down. i am just about to watch your episode. very excited.

  • I like this program. No real cheesy overdramatizations of "some say it could have been an out of focus dust particle, but we believe it was the spiritual orb of the late Jim Nabors". I wonder if you guys would qualify to be on Mike Rowe's Dirty Jobs, LOL, so they can record you recording your show....?

  • that was really interesting thank you for sharing...often wondered why they didnt just knock these old places flat...now i know.

  • Besides the closed buildings that are clearly visible from southampton road, there is still one more building they forgot to tear downnnn.......

  • Besides the closed buildings that are clearly visible from southampton road, there is still one more building they forgot to tear downnnn.......

  • lov it great stuff keep up the good work xxx from holland [netherlands] maria

  • @2000joec - Thanks for watching and thanks for the positive comments. :) Enjoy more of them on here or our website.

  • @ThousandHats who made all that graffiti on the walls

  • Byberry mental hospitol is a evil evil evil place I went there in 2003 and it took me 5 hours to explore just one building and i did not even cover all the rooms. I was in the Documents, caffetery, and recreational building had 3 floors and 2 basements. I encountered a elevator that looked like its was brand new no vandalism at all rumor has it that if you enter the elevator it takes you to hell.

  • Is this place now knocked down? :(

  • all i know is dont think i have forgotten about porcelain doll. i plan to slaughter her a slow dead life. What you did to me in 2003 still haunts me and someday we will meet, She knows who she is,

  • Would you mind telling me where you parked? I want to use this place to shoot some footage for my film school project. thank you very much!

  • @ChrisK513 I hope you have a time machine. Philadelphia State Hospital was demolished in 2006.

  • @caddy59 Yeah. I drove past it all the time, but not as much in the past 4 years I guess. I hadn't noticed it was demolished.

  • first off let me start be assuring you the mask you had on were only duck mask and did NOTHING to fight agaist the abesto. two if you reallt would have want to explore the building with a chance of peace you should have went early morning on a weekday om even night but like tues wed thurs, i would know i use to go by my self just to get away, its so peaceful there, another thing from the video, the fire look like it was one of the c building, is this correct?

  • okay not your best but i love your shit,if i am correct your urban explorers not a major film or tv show going for ratings, just bunch guys form a group, keep going guys love your approach, learned alot from use THANKS,To all skeptics ,i used to be one on GHOST for a better word, guess what i met one and it was not pretty, its as clear in my head today 35yrs later and there no science going to convince me other wise ,oh i love science but it has its place like everything else .

  • WE WERE FOOLS BUT WE HAD FUN-NETHEADS/GODBOX/BYBERRY JESUS/

  • I seen a video interview with some CRAZY audio, EVPs and video in a documentary on Byberry Mental Hospital form world renowned paranormal investigator Lou Gentile... did you guys ever experience any over the top paranormal activity (except for the crack heads) while you were investigating inside Byberry? I suppose that with all of the people lurking around and that constant BANGING, getting true evidence was impossible... NICE JOB though guy's!

  • great show thanks for putting it up....too bad about those crack heads

  • I grew up right near here(: my dad grew up down the street and he used to tell me stories on how he would get into there by the tunnels(:

  • stop trying ur not gonna get anything

  • I like how the one part says "it was learned that violent criminals were being kept on the hospital's forensic ward". Well, of course they were...it was a forensic ward. Forensic meaning criminal, and I'm sure a lot of them were violent...mentally ill criminals are often violent. I don't understand why that was listed as some sort of appalling finding.

  • too many kids not enough ghosts

  • how u gonna assume thos e kids wer stoners they were jus sum creepy emo kids

  • bbo I'm disappointed with this one. There's more footage of guys walking around with funky music playing than actual footage of the place or allegedly haunted areas.

  • Well I have to say that I love the show.. my only complaint is that there aren't enough episodes on here. And I have to say I loved that you checked out that old hospital/apartment/castle area by castleton.. It really is true how you can not even notice it. I went with some friends but I refused to go in, and apparently there were signs like "evacuated due to winterization"..

  • Wow...you could at least make an effort to sound like you're speaking naturally. You may as well have been reading off a piece of paper. I had to turn this off after about 5 minutes because I couldn't stand how contrived it all was.

  • @StephHizzle made a decision after a whole five minutes, huh? I guess we could make our minds up about you too after your one comment, but that would be ridiculous, wouldn't it? Thanks for (not) watching! :)

  • i used to work security there in 03 when i was 17, i miss that place. shame i got fired for abusing the geo tracker lol

  • I used to live in Parkwood. I was never allowed near Byberry. People I know have been down through the tunnels. Some lead to the bridge, one to the airport. It's crazy. But a shame you didn't find anything. Sad that they tore it down too, I would've liked to go inside.

  • @casseinsan where in parkwood? im still here...u should see byberry u wouldnt even know that it was ever a mental hosp there...crazy..small world right...nice to see someone who knows what i mean by FREEDOM AT BYBERRY

  • Damn youtube is so negitive lol

  • well now no need to make fun of us...byberry was the setting for a game we used to play yrs ago called "FREEDOM" and we had all those buildings we could use..we used to get bout 75-100 people and have a ball...I can walk to were byberry was located..i live in parkwood (northeast) thousand if and when u went in did the still have hell and heaven stairways?

  • ok now I saw something moving at 10:04/10:05, looked like a shadow hand lifting something up, what's that?

  • ..& that's why the security company lost the contract.

The bigger insult came when (I've seen pictures of her, trust me!) the fat whore bragged about it on myspace and last I heard they were trying to develop a case against her.

I hope she's rotting in prison right now!!

  • I guess the crackbabies that do vandalize never really understand that!

Plus, the idiots who did vandalize at Byberry eventually cost the security company that I worked for the very contract that they had with Westrum, the company that owned the property at the time! Supposedly, it was some dumb bitch who was a self proclaimed pyromaniac; she set fire to the oil and/or diesel fluid that was in one of the Earth moving machines on the property & did something like $80,000 in damage to it ...

  • ... Eden Hall. (A French gothic-style Catholic church in NE Philly built in the late 1840s/early 1850s which was torched by vandals multiple times and despite being on the registry of Nationally Historic Places and being a Nationally Historic Monument was torn down in 11.2007.)

Now, I never vandalized anything! But, I always thought that I would get caught. So, if I get caught for trespassing, wouldn't vandalism just make my stay in jail longer and more horrible...

  • ..ESHS (Eastern State Hospital & School, which was like a mile or so up Rt. 1, until Strayer Univ. redeveloped it into a campus.) and ESP (Eastern State Penitentiary was abandoned throughout the 70s & 80s and it became a haven for the same kind of idiots until it was redeveloped by the PMA and the ESTF) as well as ..

  • @SpookeyR well #1 do yous live around here? If so u probably have up to 10 or so people u know who tagged in byberry...vandals? really? You are aware its closed right? so of the work on the walls were really creative..i agree some of it is shit, but ur talking like they still have patients in there..its abandoned why do art, better than drugs right? im in the northeast (parkwood) i have gone too many times and that was really spookey lol ur name...lol

  • @jej0701: I live on the moon, is that alright with you!?! What difference does it make where I live??

If you understood context you would understand what I'm saying about Byberry and all the other places that I mention, as well as all of the other places that I hint at! Arson is vandalism, as is spraypainting, breaking shit, etc. Not all trespassers are assholes & vandalize but, the ones that do are the ones that I have a problem with!

  • I was a trespasser at Byberry myself for years. Then in 2004, after acquiring a couple of years of experience in being a security guard, I got a job with the security company that did security there and I worked at Byberry, and at a number of other sites for the same company, for a little more than three years. I developed a strong disgust for the trespassers who did all kinds of destruction at Byberry but also at a host of other locations, including ...

  • The video would have been better if you would have captured some paranormal activity. Instead all you managed to capture was people who probably helped vandalize and destroy the building. Chances are any spirits have been long scared off and it would have been interesting to see what the place looked like when it first closed. Amazing you can just walk in there without being stopped? Best part was with Radical Ed..sounds like at one time there was spirits there!

  • I've been there a few times, long before you bozos. Stay outta Philly if you don't want to encounter us lowlifes.

  • Ha ha, we're the bozos? Keep punching, sluggo...

  • @yoitshawkes .......awesome

  • @jej0701: You should really work on your grammar, spelling, and English comprehension but, I don't know if any of that would help you what with your 83 I.Q.

  • @SpookeyR ....what are u ten?...cant take a little joke..u fucking fuck head...i really think its funny when people argue on you tube...but when it came down to it...u would run like a fucking pussy....take ur shit ass show and shove up ur mothers ass FUCK

  • @jej0701: Okay, lets meet up, bitch!! Do you promise to apologize to me sincerely after I have given you a stomach full of teeth??

  • i used to work security there in 03 when i was 17, i miss that place. shame i got fired for abusing the geo tracker lol

  • Any moron with Google would have known it had become a deteriorated wasteland where kids just got drunk and vandalized. It would have been cool had they explored it 10 years prior, lil' late girls.

  • Easily said from behind a computer...if one is content to see the world only via Google, that's their business. We prefer to be in the middle of things. Thanks for watching!

  • Bit ballsy with the daylight intrusion there. Personally I'd have picked dusk, but that's just me.

  • you guys should try going to odd fellows insane asylum =D

  • I was 16 years old in 1992 shortly after the facility closed down, it was an amazing experience to just spend HOURS exploring this place... of course this was before most of the destruction was done. (and before the tunnels were blocked off) but it was fucking scary, I would swear if there ever was a ghost it'd be there.

  • What a waste you guys should change your name to BORED crew

  • Maybe we will! Thanks for watching!

  • What`s wrong w/the parents in this town? Don`t they keep track of their kids? It seems like that place has become a place for illegal drinking & drugs. As for the local resident guy, ironically he`ll probably die in their too one day. I agree w/the guy that said for kids to hang out in such a morbid place must be some testament of our present society & culture. Very sad indeed.

  • Comment removed

  • interesting video. obviously the presence of other kids in the building made your investigation very difficult. too bad. i'd have liked to see more of the investigation.

  • Thanks for being understanding though - so many people comment on the kids and how it's not a real investigation...like we invited all those kids!! LOL Plus this was more of an urban exploration - we do both, but we always go to interesting places! Thanks for watching!

  • those guys are total tools lol. What the hell is the under dark? I went there for years and never heard that...

  • Ha ha, you went there for years, never saw the Underdark and WE'RE the tools?? We just called it what was spray painted on the wall...thanks for watching!

  • i love the part where my my buddy tries to sell you weed...

  • He ran into the one guy on the team who would have taken it the way he did...LOL Good times!

  • lol shawn says a lot of true stuff.

  • cool series, you guys belong on prime time TV

  • Philly resident from 2001-2009, Byberry was a legend for urban exploration, but you had to go in pairs. Floors would cave and there was dangerous debris all over. All in all a real mess, great for exploration.

    RIP Byberry.

    Torn down in 2006

  • I feel bad for Byberry before it was taken down. It's pretty obvious the place, while perhaps haunted, was not isolated enough to actually get real paranormal evidence since so many people are in it at any given time.

The graffiti really destroys the atmosphere, too. Watching this, I couldn't feel too anxious because of the over-abundance of human presence.

I really wish they would have left that place alone, it coulda been so beautifully decayed without the graffiti.

    Thanks for this :)

  • Cool. Really great job, guys.

  • Love your show wish we had something like this in the U.K the urban ex ploration slant alone is interesting even without the paronormal side of things

  • Thanks so much for the kind words - around here if you're not getting EVPs at every turn, they feel its a waste of time - it's refreshing to hear our friends in the UK feel differently. Cheers!

  • @celtgirl7791 yeah, I do this kind of things too and I can definitely say it's very exciting to explore abandoned facilities, even without seeing ghosts or paranormal stuff like that

  • Did you guys ever actually learn the cause of that last fire?

  • i dont really understand the english guy? he is all bitching about being there, and wanting to watch a movie and eat cake. if u dont like it, then dont go. i would love to take his place.

  • English? He's obviously Arabic.

  • When was this filmed?

  • This episode was filmed in the spring of 2005...before byberry was demolished.

  • Id have to smoke a blunt before doing that lol

  • This is not true paranormal investigation. Are any of you guys even educated in what your doing. Do you try provocation of any kind. The risk I talked about before is the risk of provocation the risk of actually coming face to face with the paranormal asI have on a couple different occations.

  • This is one of our Urban Exploration episodes and a traditional paranormal investigation is often difficult in a place in such an advanced state of decay, wouldn't you agree? The amount of people there would contaminate any audio we might take and if you're a fan of orbs, I can only say you'll get your fill of them here...but I guarantee here they are just dust. Watch our Shanley or Phoenixville episodes before you go posting your opinions on us as a whole. Thanks for watching!

  • so then what was the point of an investigation here if you feel that it would be too hard to conduct, and why bring so many people if you fear evidence contamination? I noticed on one of your videos you brought three different paranormal groups to research a HUGE 48 foot LIGHTHOUSE.... wasn't that overkill for investigators too?

  • Again -urban exploration...sometimes you do things simply "because it's there" We can say we've been there, it was an interesting experience - you will never go there because it has been torn down. Sorry if you'll never recoup your 43 minutes but we don't feel the effort was a waste. Even if we presented evidence from here left and right it would not sway someone who did not want to believe...we have no delusions of making a scientific breakthrough in such a place - do keep that in mind.

  • its all houses there now

  • I'm so pissed I never got to go to the Byberry!!! Everyone I know has been there at one time or another. I'm the only one of my friends who never went.

Cool vid. I get to see what I missed.

  • not bad 5/5 :))))))))).

  • is this a ghost hunting show..or just a group that go into abandon buildings,,anyone ?

  • Paranormal investigation an urban exploration - as the episode mentions, not every place is suitable for the now-traditional methods. Thanks for watching!

  • if that was all one building, think of how big the f*ckin building would be

  • i gave it another go and radical ed is funny...

  • i gopt to 30 mins and nothing happened does anything every happen on these vids??

  • a 43 minute vid straight up daaaaaaaamn, i thought you could only get max 10 mins...

  • Wow you guys did a very good job with footage and editing! I love places like this, i film in them alot.

  • rip byberry! i'm not from philly but used to visit there and as soon as i heard stuff and stories about this joint i was thoroughly intrigued. someone on a radio talk show there at the time had a call-in one october night with people recounting their creepy experiences there. i was fascinated. i made a point of going by there to take photos, but unfortunately this was around 1997 so there were plenty of guards at that point. thanks for this!

  • whats hysterical is....I was one of those punks that thought it was a night club, got drunk and tried to get laid....and we werent lost....considering I use to date Jerzy, was mad cool with her ex Gunner....but even though that was bullshit, it was good to see Byberry....You should have gone into the C buildings or at least the big auditorium....

  • Hell yeah - we went in all the buildings...don't forget - what you see here is an edited down version of hours and hours of footage. We met plenty of cats down there and we're glad they've been enjoying the look back. :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • Hey, who's holding the camera at 13:26 etc.?

  • Our brother in insanity, Shawn, filmed us going to the Underdark. After that time, it's just Chris and Brian filming each other and themselves.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Shoot, thanks for making these! Somebody needs to preserve the memory of what these places were like, and not just by writing about them but by being in them. It communicates something you can't otherwise.

And this is OT, but the camera that puts out the green light -- I'm guessing that's a near-infrared light that it can see but the other cameras can't? IIRC most digital cameras can see NIR light just like night vision goggles, only most interpret it as a greyish purple, not green!

  • brian you are so cool ya know your different from the others, your very cool doun to earth and you dont try to be all macho like chris your ,nothing aganst you chris but still your not this person or that person your just brian and that is cool!!oh and shawn is so funny its cool that he has a sensative spot hes cool. oh and please make more episodes i love them espeshaly eastern state pin .XD forever Dani panda

  • The most dangerous thing a man can do, is to live.

    Nobody have survived yet!

  • they should wear masks asbestos is very dangerous you can get lungcancer of it (even after 20/30 years)

  • must have been scary in that tunnel with thick smoke....

  • me and supernovaroo and the whole gang ran this place...theres no place like home

  • Brother, we are glad to be able to bring it to you like this...RIP Byberry

  • P.S. 11:06

  • There'll never be another Byberry, that's for sure...

  • Wish i could have seen this place before they tore it down.

  • Thanks for bringing back some good memories! I can't believe how long its been already...

  • We will NEVER4GET the lost....MY great great gmom was thrown in against her will there & her 3 kids in an orphange &husband to go gamble and be free,to have her oldest son become navy special inteligence, electrical dept.& part head of PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT,now thats stuff worth investigating

  • haha omg total unprofessional paranormal investigation&urban explorer job! u got what ya deserved ,nuttin! Let a rabbit show ya they way next time! Yo as 4 our culture we LUV 2 admire historical buildings, new atmosphere & why not have a drink or 2 when ur finished ur explore for the night! Time travel in the form of reality !

  • Unprofessional? Us? Says the guy who uses numbers as words....LOL Just kidding - thanks for watching!

  • Correct me if i'm wrong, but that was not a cave in. It was from the old Mens campus closed in the 80's, when they combined the men and the women.
