I like how this game looks, but how is that 'digging in?' Digging in usually involves... Digging.

I think that "Digging" which you think about is right. A player chooses "Digin" and turns into a third person view from the first person view. The player can play attack and the threat of the enemy then while checking a mise en scene. The reason is because it is necessary for the player to play while directing each platoon in BiA.
