' Drake' must have brightened up because, when he was in his tank, he had made himself dark to aborb the U.V. light, to help himself produce new skin where, as you said, he was shedding. When you took him out, he could tell there was no U.V. quality to the light, so he made himself his natural colour. My dragon 'Rusty' does the same thing. It's cool, isn't it? He's really handsome. Do you still have him?

why does everyone have a glass vivarium for beardies? the wooden ones with a glass sliding doors at the front hold the heat in better, and the ones that open at the top can somtimes scare beardies because they can think that a bird is picking them up.

salmonella isnt what i would be concerned about kissing em,all animal feces contain ecoli and it highly likely he comes in contact with his feces here and there.so be careful with the smooches!awesome dragon though,good job and raising him(captive bred animals are very unlikely to have salmonella)

I disagree with you on recommending bearded dragons. Yes, it's a great experience, but I think they need and deserve more attention than most reptiles. They're also the only reptiles I know of that actually seem to have personality. But they need more time and care than, say, a snake or fish. Or even most lizards. I think they're WELL worth it (2 in this house!), but people need to be aware that if you get one, gotta spend a lot of time and expense with them!

This dragon is awesome man! I just got my 2nd dragon a few months ago, at the pet store he couldn't move, so I asked them why he was so sick and couldn't move. They said that he had developed metabolic-bone disease because his previous owners didn't heat his cage or give him any UVA/UVB. All his bones got real limber and he would shake. So I took him in, gave him proper lighting and tons of heat, plus good nutrition. And now he's all better. His name is Mo, thought you would appreciate that
