i have an open bite my back molars are the only teeth that touch in my entire mouth. but i have no problems with my face or smile or the way i look and thus choose to not get this procedure done. if there are no consequences other then talking with a slight lisp then i am not having my jaw broken :X not enough drugs in this world to make that ok.

hey yeahhh i have an underbite, id sayy im getting jaw surgery in about 7 or 8 months, but im soo scared, and happy already. i didnt know you could be happyyy andd scared at the same time, but obviously you can. but yeahh....first i need to get my wisdom teeth out and wait 6 months after to get surgery and i havent scheduled a widom teeth surgery yettt, ummm but comment back, because i know youve already had the surgery, any pointers??? btw, im 16 and ive had braces since i was in 7th grade. ha

Im haing the same exact surgry next summer, im getting my braces in 3 weeks, there going to break my top and bottom jaw just like you,im so scared but ill do anything to have this donee :)

hey :) I´ ve got the same problem as you, but also there is an assymetry in my face, the midlines of my top and bottom teeth do not line up :/ my surgery will be done in april, they will move my lower and also upper jaw and i think they will move it a little bit on one side... and I´m soo nervous about it.. I know that I want to get it done but also I´m afraid that something will go wrong. I also saw your post op videos, and you look great, I feel much better. thanks so much for posting :)

By the way I'm from the Philippines. I am 21 yrs. old guy and has an orthognatic lower jaw chin. But I can "tack back" a little my chin so not to look 'pointy" at front, but damn they look very pointy on profile view. I'm very ashamed of myself especially when people look at you and say or think: "What a pity, this guy could have been handsome and hot if not because of his long pointed disgusting chin".

Aww your lucky! I have a reeeally bad underbite and Im only 14 so I dont know what its gonna look like when Im 17 :s After surgery did you notice a change in the way you kind of keep your jaws together? Cuz atm I keep mine apart :s Thanks

My wife has the same issue and difficulty chewing her food too. She is 29 now. Does anyone know if there is a way to have insurance cover this? I have not investigated this yet as I want to be better informed. Please help!

Right now its been just over 2 weeks since i got my surgery, and i am already feeling much better aboout my appearence. its definatly a good suregery to get done, as long as you realize that in the beginning it will feel as if it was the wrost choice lol, your will change your mind as you heal. and all the power to you if you want a bigger now :P

yes it hurts, but that comes with all surgery.You will be heavily medicated tho right now im taking liqued loritab..i can barely type this comment or do anything else really on the drug but it works pretty well

i just got the surgery, day 3.Mouth is wired shut with wires.That is the only thing that sucks so far..hard to swallow liquids and spit.

i am 14 i live in the uk and i do have a underbite but its not bad and i have been to a consultant about it and he said its up to me if i am happy the way i look then i dnt get it done and u cant notice it but i really dont know what to do

well just as the consultant said, it is up to you, It all depends on how you feel about yourself, If you feel it will make you feel better about yourself then go for it, however it costs quite a bit of money so you have to be prepared for that, and all the healing that has to be done as well as the pain that you have to go through are things you should consider. You are 14 so you shoudnt be gettin it done until your about 16 and you stop growing. Hope this has helped

forgot to mention, im getting the same exact surgery as you, widening the top and moving it forward, then moving the lower back.I gotta see if they can keep my nose where it is tho b/c it doesnt need to get bigger lol.

Because i have a major underbite, as well as my upper jaw is pushed back quite a bit more than it should be, so i am haveing it corrected, so that i will be able to chew and breathe better
