@ThePJforlife pararescuers go behind enemy line to save down pilots? am i correct? CG rescue swimmers go out and save anyone in distress. i believe saying so OTHERS may live is a good motto for them, maybe the pj's should have so MY PILOTS may live. either way both serve for a good doing, so there isnt a reason for you to be upset

i want to do it too. i love water im a strong swimmer and have my scuba license. just saying how much i like water. id like to be in some sort of servise and this seems good, it would be a good satisfaction to save lifes too. =]

The "swimmers" are in the C.G. and they STOLE the USAF Pararescue motto. It is too bad they could not make their own and had to STEAL a motto from the USAF Parareasue. A motto that that the P.J.'s earned in BLODD, BEFORE there was EVER a "swimmers" program in the C.G. THe swimmers should be ashamed that they stole a motto from the USAF PJ's.

Rockets are still required by the April 2009 update of the NTTP 3-50.1, but there is a section in the 3130.6D that allows use of scubapro jetfins as well.

i dont know the specifics but i am going the aviation route myself to become a rescue swimmer.

you have to be enlisted, do the airmans program and get approved to go to A school in elizabeth town.

It's an enlistment rating... but you volunteer to become any rating that you wish. Provided that you meet the basic criteria for each rating with your ASVAB score. Once you become an E-3, you meet the minimum ASVAB criteria for the rating you desire, and you recieve the necessary level of secret clearance, you can put your name on whatever "A-school" list for the rating you desire. The 3 aviation ratings (AMT, AET, & AST) also require that you complete a Flight Physical before A-school as well.

The job of the USCG rescue swimmer is extremely dangerous! You have to withstand the bad weather (including blizzards), must not fear big waves and sea, all of these tricks. only those who are really brave at heart are capable of undertaking it. But, it's about saving people lives at sea!

i saw a picture of an AMT with a rescue dog that looks for missing people, so does that mean like AST's and AMT's can use and train rescue dogs in the coast guard? just wondering because i like the AST job but i was also interested in the career feild of being a dog handler in the military. Does anyone know because the coast guards website to me is really no help and there are no recruiters where i'm at.
