  • I loved this! Thank you for sharing. Anyone who wants rats, consider adopting a rescued lab rat. Look up Lab Animal Rescue and Education on facebook if you are interested in giving one a second chance at life.

  • This is my friends account and i love you and yr rats 2!!!

  • this is my friends account and i love you and your rats too!

  • Are they still alive? :)

  • @marshuboy

this is the internet, noob. if you want information you dont comment on youtube and hope for somebody to answer within the next months, you use google and get hundreds of answers in no time -.-

and no, they dont neccessarily fight more, but theyre usually a little lazier than females. NEVER mix genders unless castrated/sterilised cuz theres way too many pet rats already

  • hi ..they both r boys..u mentioned..do they fight?..I've a male mice and the pet shop said not to put 2males together..they r territorial...is that true?...don't need a female other wise i will land up with heaps of babies.....lol

  • They are so big- they are really cute :p

  • @Fuckdisworld93

    Oh, trolls... Such wonderful people.

(By the way, your username makes your intentions obvious).

  • how did u teach them all those tricks?

  • @rsanders30

    Time, practice, and treats.

  • What cage is that?

    They are sooo cute!!! <3

  • @abercrombieskirt

I'm sorry... I cannot recall the name of my cage. :\

  • @catsandrats95 Oh Thats ok! You have very cute and intelligent rats though!

  • are they male or female?

  • thats awesome rats are smarter than people think

  • great job guys beautiful rats !!!!!

  • My boy's name is Yuki too! ^_^ Yuki and Senshi :)

  • @iluvhorses9616

    Very cute. :D

  • nice

  • Cool :) Nicely done, its a couple of awesome rats you got!

  • Well done girls with the training. Have you tried clicker training with the rats? Teach them to touch a target stick and use that to lure them instead of using the food as a direct lure so that they can do things like spin more independently and you can even shape much more complexed behaviours. More owners of intelligent creatures like rats should spend more time with them like this than leave them stuck in cages.

Btw, are you listening to medwyn Goodall - Moon Goddess?:D

  • @Canislupess My experience with clicker training is that they usually gets a little shock when you click, so they get frighten rather than reinforced :/

  • @Giesji You can easily muffle a clicker or use a different softer sound to mark behaviour instead of a clicker. With one of my dogs, I make a high pitched boo sound as her marker. You could so something similar with rats.

  • what were the treats called?

  • well done.

  • yuki looks like my very first female rat i had in 2001

  • lol retarded

  • @DoomedHayabusa

    LOL. Rude.

  • i want rats so badd! can u do more videos of them? thanjs. i love them :)

  • Awesome rats, I wish I could have them but my mom doesn't like rats (for whatever reason) but I just adopted a kitten this year, too, and he would probably hurt rats.

I like there names, "Snow"(yuki) and Shadow. x3

  • can you do more videos of your rats tricks?

  • The black one is marked like an asian black bear. that's pretty badass.

  • Yuki is FAST!!!

Yuki has a slow start, but when Yuki starts running he/she goes FAST

  • haha April 4th is my dog's birthday

  • How cute! Could you look at mine/ :P

  • Lol, i love it when they do all the obstacles. I have only recently bought mine and i have trained 1 to do a 2 foot jump from the sofa to the computer desk lol.

(Also can i use ur video for my wesite?)

  • @Sazca12321

My rats used to be able to jump long-ish distances, too.

And yes, you may use this video on your website. Thank you. :)

  • by any chance, did you name Yuki after the boy in Fruits Basket?

  • @KittyCatRat

    Why, yes I did. :)

  • So cute. :)

  • You have very smart rats. Good job =]

  • I didn't know ninja warrior had a cat edition.

  • I trained my rat to go to the store and buy me ice cream.

  • @Scrubbs95

    That's talent. X3

  • @Scrubbs95 haha yah thats funny. No its not that is stupid

  • @Scrubbs95 Does it bring back correct change?

  • Very cute video! Beautiful Agouti and Berkshire. But just to let you know, rice crispies are not a healthy treat, just because they are low in fat does not mean they should be fed to a rat. But you are correct about them being better than yogurt drops.

  • dose yuki stand for snow?

  • @skuxtothefull

I believe I answered this same question about 3 to 4 times already. :) Yes, Yuki means snow.

  • Great job! Smart rats and good tricks.

  • aww, you guys are so lucky, I have wanted a rat forever, how did your mom say yes? they are so cute, and very cute, they are lucky to have you 2!

  • OMG THAT LIL GURL IS SOO FUCKIN HOT hahahah

  • @901dog

Are you trying to troll? It appears so. >_< Or you're just being a creeper.

My sister was, like, 11 years old when I added this video. Wow.

  • wow smart rats. How long did it take to train them... i bet u make them soo happy. they r lucky. good job

  • i think its so cool you girls raised them so well.. kudos to you. wish more kids were like you two...

  • I have a rat and i trained him to jump through hoops jump off a little diving board into the bath tub and come when i call him. I Love your idea of the high-five gonna try it!

  • @bigpurplebug1

Oooo... Very cool. :D Good luck with the trick.... Although it should be pretty easy to teach them.

    How old is your rat?

  • On this video do you know how old your rats were , because I want a rat but I don't want one thats to old or to young , and I'm trying to fing out how to work out thier age ... Good tricks :)

  • @reorunner123

They were about seven months old at this time, I believe. I recommend buying a rat from a place that breeds and takes care of them throughout their life until they're weaned. It helps with their friendliness and the time it takes for bonding. :)

  • @catsandrats95 Thankyou :)

  • Very nice.

Say, what's Yuki? Has to do with Murakami?

  • @juncode

Yuki means snow in Japanese. I named him after Yuki Sohma from Fruits Basket... He's the rat in the Chinese Zodiac. :)

  • WoW.... Those Rats Are As Big As That Child's Face! Awesome Video Though...

    Radical Animals : ) Cool

  • Your looks remind me of isabella from that book dear dumb diary by Jim Benton. amirite?

  • rofl at the last minute the rat just legs (sorry i mean claws it) it and they end up tail and tail

  • Oooh.. I always smile when i watch vids like this (:

  • @ThatPia

I always smile when I get comments like this. :3

  • @catsandrats95 I wish I had pet rats like yours.. They are soo cute! Grr.. jealous :D

  • i love those rats! 2 males? i thought males wernt hyper... i want eitther 2 males or 2 females..witch once skould i get?

  • @ihelpable

Males are usually laid back, but can be hyper once in a while. You should get males... Even though they leave scent marks everywhere, they're usually more friendly. :3 Females are more playful and shy, though.

  • @catsandrats95 females are only shy sometimes 1 out of my 4 rats are shy but she is still really fun to be with and my rats love to run around and wrestle with my hand lol it's really fun to be with them so either male or female are all great

  • omg they rock. i want rats SO BAD.

  • ur feeding them a little too much.. only give them sweets if they do it correctly..

doing it halfcorrectly is not good.. :D

u reward ur rats too fast.. let them do 2-3 rounds and reward them.. not after every round..

also say something.. like "run" and then u show them their way.. one day they will run without u having to lead them :)

  • yuki i love that name does his name stand for snow or courage

  • @smallvillechick92

Yuki means either snow or lucky. I guess he's both.

He's calm and peaceful like snow. Not necessarily lucky because he's been sick recently.... But in the past he was so intelligent. He's still loved though. :)

  • YUKI!!!!!! Fruits Basket :D

  • @LisaPizzaaaa

YES. I'm glad someone knew where his name came from. ^_^

  • @catsandrats95 lol I had pet rats too.. Momo and Snow, they lived for like 3 years

  • i once had a rat that was a light brown dumbo eared named brandi , she had an upside down HEART on heart belly. clearly shaped heart it was so cute!

  • @puppetsgal20

Eeeee~! That sounds so adorable! ^w^

  • i just say stand and he stands no treats included and it only took like 5 minutes

  • @kevinwasheres16

Hmm. All rats are different... Plus I was only 13 when I took this video and was not interested in teaching my rats to respond that way. X3

You should post a video of your rat standing on command... I would like to see him. :)

  • @Zagzyes12

I've never had shy rats, so I can't help you there. Sorry. :(

Usually female rats are more shy than males too. All I can say is to bond with them in any way... Such as letting them take treats out of your hands, so they'll trust you more.

  • @Zagsyes12

    Good luck, though.

...Apparently I deleted your comment when I was trying to edit my response. I'm sorry. :\

  • Where did you get your rats?

They are beautiful and awesome :]

  • @RachyyEatsCupcakes

Err... Animal Trax. I'm pretty sure there's only one in the world. XD It's mostly a reptile/amphibian store, but they also breed rats and sell other small rodents... For snakes to eat. D:

  • @catsandrats95 ohh okay lolol

  • :) they're freaking ADORABLE

    i want rats so badly

  • wait so all you feed em to do tricks is rice crispies?

  • @TheDsAo

Mostly. Once in a while I fed them Fruit Loops... Rice Krispies were healthier, though.

  • it would be much cooler to see them spin if you have them do it without following the treat... lol i've seen it done so its possible.

  • @yurt101

It's really difficult to teach a rat a trick by saying something. I didn't want to tease them without a treat either. :\

  • @catsandrats95 try using a dog clicker or if they don't like the sound "some rats don't and get freaked out, get a folders can that has that clicking lid or something like that, and every time they perform the trick click it, and treat them... continue to train them on that and slowly have them follow the treat less and less until they spin without the treat, and you now have a rat performing its great trick on command, it takes time but they will learn I trained my friends rat the trick :)

  • @yurt101

Thanks, but it's too late to start that now. My rats are so old... They turned two in April, in fact. :\

  • @catsandrats95 oh ok well it'll take like alot longer lol eh but rats only live up to 4 years unfortunantly... from my research anyways..

  • Cute ratties! I can see they are much loved and have loads of fun!

  • At 0:10 i thought it was toilet paper and i was like how are the h*** are they going to walk on that :)

  • @InkosiDeVinyl

Haha. That would have been interesting. XD

  • very cute girls! i'm going to go teach my rat some cool stuff now!

  • i breed rats...there alot of fun

  • @CHloE748 you shouldn't breed, their are so many rats that need homes. you should rescue.

  • @CHloE748

I agree with 2micky2. You shouldn't breed your rats. Also, breeding can shorten the life of the parent rats. :(

  • @CHloE748 Y in the hell do u breed them? there are thousands of little ratties at shelters who need loveing homes..!

  • oh the rat's name is Yuki, i thought you said Icky o_O" my bad lol; cute tricks

  • @2Cuzinz

Oh, really? It doesn't sound like "icky" to me. I'm not the one talking, anyway...

  • @catsandrats95 in the beginning it sounds like it but in the rest she's saying Yuki aha xD

  • what kind of rats are those? is it easy to teach them cool tricks like those! they are so cool! :)

  • @Hamburger0000

The grey one is an agouti Irish and the other is a black-silvered Irish. Yes it was pretty easy to teach them tricks. They didn't need a lot of effort because treats were involved.

  • Beautiful rats. I just recently got a rat, and I'm excited to teach her some of the things you taught yours. How are they? Are they both still with you?

  • @iampinkkat

Both of my rats are still doing well. They both turned two years old in April. :D

  • @catsandrats95

    That's great. :D

Since my rat is new, she doesn't like being out of her cage much, and doesn't want to get the rat harness on. xD Could you help me with that? Like as in tips or advice?

And also, when I put her down, she'll immediately scamper away from me like she's crazy and goes under something. Just tries to get away. I need help with that.

And lastly, she doesn't like treats. I've tried everything. D:

  • @iampinkkat

All young rats don't trust humans at first. It just takes time to bond to a new rat. Just let her come to you for food instead of setting it down and waiting for her to get it. My rats never used their harnesses, even now.

Female rats are usually more shy anyway. A cage-mate could also help her like you more and keep her company. Without a friend, rats get depressed and lonely. It's not really good for their mental health.

What kind of treats are you feeding her, by the way?

  • @catsandrats95

I was planning to use the harness on the beach once she's bigger and fits it better, since we live ON the beach. ^_^

I am saving up $10 again to get another rat, no worries. I have researched plenty about how they need a group of two or more. Luckily my dad likes her, so it won't be a problem. :]

For treats, I use yogurt, grapes, cereal, and I'm still finding new ones. So far she loves grapes. But only if I bite off half of it for her. xD

  • Awesome video. I like the music. What is it?

  • @greenteaboa

Hmm... The song is by Medwyn Goodall. I dunno what the song title is.

  • Rats are the best

  • Aww, they're so cute! And I love their names. And it's awesome cause I named my little girl Yuki. And awesome race track. Nifty toys too.

  • Awsome :D When my rats gets a little older, I'm going to teach them that "spinning around" trick you did :D

  • Are these dumbo rats or fancy rats ?

  • your rats are adorable and seem to love you to bits!! Don't let people's negativity get to you! Rat powah!

  • Did you teach them to do that!? THAT IS SO COOL! You should put them on Pet Star!

  • @Lassieanna321

Yes, I did. My rats don't really do tricks anymore, though. :(

  • thanks :D

  • poor animals.

  • @ESP4thaWin

Please explain why my dear rats are poor animals. -_-

  • @ESP4thaWin most of people kills rat, they are lucky!

  • lol cool those rats are awsome i have 2 girl rats and i dont know how 2 teach them tricks cause they r lazy usually and isk they just wont do tricks

  • those r cool rats

  • Im thinking bout getting a rat. but im not sure what kinda i wanna get, i would like to teach it a lot of tricks... And i want one that is about that size. What kind of rats are those? and how hard is it to teach them?

  • @Brook790349

Both of them are standard Irish rats. Yuki is black-silvered and Shadow is agouti. I don't think that the type of rat determines whether or not they can do tricks or not.

It's not very hard to teach them. You just have to lead them through steps and give them treats for every successful trick. I would recommend using low-calorie/low-fat treats, like Rice Krispies.

You should get rats (not one because they get depressed and lonely alone). They really are good pets. :)

  • @catsandrats95 okay well will it be easy to tach my hooded rat?

  • @KiwiFruitProduction

All rats learn the same, I believe. Sorry for the late response.

  • Dis is COOL

  • can u train my ratties!!! lol i always try it one my rats and they r like; "what the hell r u tryin to do!" lol nice

  • I think this is wonderful. What a great setup - your rats are so clever and beautiful; I love their coats.

I'll be getting my very first rats next week and I can't wait!!

  • So CUTE! :oD

  • Omg, they are so cute, could you give me advise, i'm planning on getting a rat soon, and want to know do you have to leave them for a couple of days to settel in the new enviroment but fed them by hand for them to get used to you ?

  • Thank you for the help :) :P

  • @alliecat523

    You're very welcome. :3

  • @alliecat523

    @alliecat523

Yes... When Shadow was a baby, he went inside the bathroom counter and didn't come out for several hours. We had to put a box with food and water in front of the hole he got though, and [obviously] he came out. Also, rats are pretty good pets to have... Cute, sweet, intelligent, and excellent companions. If you think you will always love rats, then you should get them. Oh, and female rats are usually more shy around humans.

My cat's name is Allie. Hehe. XD

  • i had a party at my house on april 4th :) goo rats!

  • Adorable boys!! How long did it take for them to learn to walk on their back legs? My girls will go up on their back legs, but they expect the treat for that and don't seem to understand that I want them to take a couple of steps. Are boys easier to train, do you know? I have all girls right now. BTW I am 54 yrs old and these are my first rats! and I LOVE THEM! wish I had found rats as pets a long long time ago! thanks.

  • I love your little rats! Great job raising them. Anyone giving you a bad comment doesn't know what they're talking about.

  • sweet :)

  • Your boys are absolutley beautiful and very well trained. <3

  • wow they are so big!!! are they male or female? their beautiful!!!

  • They're males. :3

  • That is so cute. You are a very good rat handler!

  • Aww :D

    what smart ratties^^

  • so cute! rats are awesome, i have four :-)

  • I have 2 rats too :D

    geheh I love japanese names:P

(sorry for my bad english I'm Dutch)

  • @animelover4evaah

My rat is named Nezumi. :D

    Japanese for rat.

  • @iampinkkat

That's really cool. :D Japanese names are pretty. ^_^

  • they act like dogs lol

  • haha thats so cool! Who woulda thought you could teach a rat to do stuff like that?

  • ah i never get tired of watching this its so cool

  • I really don't know why someone rated your comment as bad. O_o Buuuuut~ I shall give you a positive rating to make it neutral. ^_^

  • How do you train to high five ?? It's really cool!!

  • Practice and patience. Also, food is important. :)
