Dude... the PowerPC has been dead for like nearly 10 years, the only thing that kept it from totally kicking the bucket was Apple's stupidity in allowing the PowerPC to still be supported. Furthermore this is one of the reasons why I don't switch because of Apple's inability and refusal to allow people to know ahead of time what is going on and what they are going to be releasing. Therefore you have to go on rumors and even they might not be true.

I'm no computer geek, but I think it's all about money for Apple. Instead of making major updates for Leopard, they want to come out with a brand new OS and charge 120 bucks for it! I don't know about everyone else, but I'm perfectly content with Leopard. It's 3 quantum leaps above Vista!

Thanks for letting me know. I wasn't sure how the capitalist system worked until you explained that. I'm just saying that it doesn't seem like a very good value for the average consumer who doesn't have some huge super-network. I'm just glad that it's still a leopard and not some other cat.

first, Snow Leopard is NOT going to be 129,- euros (like leopard)

second, what you guys don't understand is that "under the engine" there will be ALLOT of improvements,

it means basically that your mac will be ALLOT faster when snow Leopard come out, and developers will get to squeeze every drop of power out of your mac so that every program will be "crash-free" and ALLOT faster... really.. ALLOT!!!!!

Supporting Leopard until 2014 makes sense to me. Macs have (on average) a 5-year life span (compared to the 3 years of Windoze PCs) and if Snow Leopard does come out in 2009 then umm... the last Leopard based Macs will be sold in 2009?

Add the 5-year life span and you're computer will be outdated right after Leopard becomes unsupported.

Thanks Sam for the update. The one thing that I think makes a difference for OS 10.6 is that it will allow MS Exchange sync. I'm amazed over the new iPhone thats coming soon, however Apple still won't add the removable battery for it.
