I didn't think I could ever be jealous of a voice, but gdamn... His baritone voice exudes so much charm it's uncomprehensible, not even Sinatra imo is on that level.
I seriously can't see any woman he talks to not falling in love.
AWW,, Even im not with my exs.... i still love them even though i dont show it... because i soo hurt by the past... so this song is true, when you fall in love , it will be forever... even if ur angry and crazy upset....
Hey, I’m a young artist, & I would really appreciate it if everyone would check out my cover of Michael Bublé’s “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You.” Although I’m knowledgeable that Michael Bublé was not the first to record the song, my version was inspired by his rendition, nonetheless. I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
Perhaps this has been noted before, but this is not a live performance but rather an excerpt from the 1957 film "Istanbul" with Errol Flynn and Cornell Borchers. Nat is exceptional here, his piano work lovely and his voice at once romantic and sad and hopeful. With great simplicity the lyrics conjure a meditation on the hope of love and convey depth of emotion with no rhetorical flourishes. And Nat Cole's singing is so direct and vivid that the song comes alive. How we miss you, Nat.
Now was the first time I saw him perform this song. Words alone cannot describe it. Honesty and sincerity from the heart are as close as I can get. Thank you, whoever shared this. GOD bless you.
en france, henri salvador disait que c est en entendant nat,qu il a voulu chanter comme lui s est entrainé a chanter d une voix aussi douce que lui pendant des semaines et des mois. bien sur nat c est la référence en la matière!
@skipper8257 MAKES ME WONDER HOW GOOD, GIFTED PEOPLE LIKE NAT DONT LIVE LONG , WHILE SCUMS OF THE EARTH LIKE HELMS AND THURMOND LIVED IN THE EIGHTIES AND BEYOND
Love Nat King Cole is voice is like warm velvet. This does not look like a live version of the song to me, looks like it was taken from a movie. I think the man with the mustache is Lionel Barrymore.
I think it is amazing that with the passing of Sinatra, King Cole, and Torme, that Bennett is the last (?) great proponent of this style of presentation and delivery. Way low on the flash, but massive talent. They were all blessed by the fact that their respective heydays were such that they could develop their talents and performance skills in a slower-paced media world, you know records, radio, and live performances. Time is really under-appreciated. Hail, the King!
I am happy that you brought Tony up. Few singer can sell a song like Bennett, Cole and Sinatra. Thank god that we can still hear there incredible voice. I might also add, Sammy, Bing and Dean.
This version of this song always brings me to tears, but in a good way. Sad but bittersweet longing for that ultimate experience: to love someone that loves you in return.
miamoradrean, you said something that needed to be said. And then (sorry soap box...LOL). I hope you'll have enough respect for your own opinions, your own thoughts, that you will not apologize for them.
Sorry, soundslikeblue I'm so late, Yes, you're right. In pop culture respect as an ideal, as a way to live together, has disappeared. Genuineness has vanished, real feeling rather than something from tv or pop songs. Hands on the keyboard, headphones on, eyes glued to tv or computer, phone ringing to be answered, blackberrys to text with--- does anyone feel anything real? When have you heard a real thought? Nat knew all about it. Yes, we miss you, Nat. You gave us everything true.
@284Maldiner I Know exactly what you mean, when you ask "does anyone feel anything real?" It is so hard in my age group now a days to find someone with true feeling who truly loves, and doesn't just focus on sex... I wish men like Nat still existed. The one's that truly made a woman feel loved and special. Makes you wonder if boys my age are even capable of appreciating true love. you know. (sorry soap box... LOL)
that is something that i call music, no mixing no auto-tunes, just truly beautiful voice Mr Cole your records will always have place in my mind and collection
What a nostalgic moment. Thank you Mr. Nat King Cole for the memories and the wonderful life I've spent on this earth. It's the next generations turn at the helm.
What is this world without those we love? And when they're gone from us we spend forever trying to catch those golden moments with them in memories. Isay to you love those who love you. Love them with all your heart and every day. I promise you one day you will be glad you did and those memories will be beautiful and bearable; your love will only be a song away.
Give up those cigs, my friends; they killed Cole, Bogart, and so many others well before their time was due.
If you won't... I wish you luck.
Hey... folks... I'm not being a "crusader" per se; it's just that whenever I think of Nat King Cole I think "what a tragedy he died so young - died so senselessly."
Oh Nat I love you so much and I miss you terribly, I'm so grateful to God for passing the baton from you to Johnny Mathis on to me to take me the rest of the way through my life. You were an every day event in my life until Johnny came along. You left me too soon my dear, too soon! :-(
Is this a scene from "Never Say Goodbye"? The beautiful lady looks like Cornel Borchers (hope the spelling's correct). Love the song and the voice. Thanks for the post.
@kevinastraw Although the title of this says Live, this is not a live performance. It is a scene from a movie, so the man shown is a character in the movie, rather than the actor Errol Flynn. Also, although Cole did not sleep around as much as Flynn, he was married twice and regularly cheated on his second wife. Just before his death, he had just ended an affair he had been having with a much younger woman. So by your standards, Nat King Cole should probably not be singing this song.
@ChicagoSouthDan A singer does not have to be the ethical model of his song, but when you illustrate the song with a picture of someone, you imply that that person is such a model. That it is a film is neither here nor there, we are not to know that. To use Flynn in this context is a mistake.
My Father died 10th February 2011 and left a loving family and my Mother knows that the words of this song is the love they had between them Caroline to John he was a Faither, Pa Pa and Great Pa Pa we miss you and love you we will look after Mother but Dad I cant stop crying I just love so much R I P
@PipsqueakTheGiant That's funny, because i came to this song for the 30 days song challenge. I'm on day 23 that is a song that you want to play at your wedding, i didn't thought twice an chose this song.
I think it's cool that other people want this song for their wedding too.
@kevinastraw I would personally add that it is also a song where the man and the woman care about what each other feels, so they are at the same level, they have not any kind of love, but a desire for a love where they both are free to feel the same way, and thats the basis for everything. Love and Respect for eachother. Don't you agree with me?
@soundslikeblue You are SO right! I know this special great wonderful feeling. My "Spatzl" and me feel in this way. We felt in love 35 years ago and due we have been after 3 years to young we went away in two different ways BUT since 08. of March 2011 we are "going" our way together [I called to her sister in October last year as I felt to find her and my love called me back after a long time of thinking - she is married but unhappy. And now we are ONE together forever and that’s so wonderful.
@kevinastraw This song has a more direct connection with Love and Respect for eachother as a couple, than with "Christian Heaven" ideas... Many people who don't believe in heaven indentify themselves with this song.
Plus, I respect other's opinions when they are done in a polite way and in a constructive way (and I could control the comments if I wanted).
You say my comment doesn't make sense, but you didn't explain why!
Next time think twice before makin a useless comment like your Last one.
@kevinastraw Divorce rate probably agrees with you. Not really.
Love is something intangible that lasts forever only metaphorically, or perhaps if you would like to believe it.
I like how pretentious you are about foreverness of love and it being related to christianity. "Till death do us part" the pact made in a christian marriage. I'm sure that also agrees with what you said, no?
Please dont say something so insensitive and stir religious debate when its on the subject of love, seriously.
That, my friend is the proof of heaven. The very fact that love exists. It's not just a great feeling, it's a reality. Nat King Cole was a conduit of that reality in his songs.
@kevinastraw Errr. It would make sense if there was ANYTHING after death, doesn't matter whether it's heaven or not.
Besides, I don't think he meant forever literally like that. He didn't mean until the end of the universe, he just meant as long as you are alive to love. It makes sense to me.
@kevinastraw Your comment represents the purest, the most unadulterated ignorance imaginable. It's simply a love song, delivered from one person to another without acknowledgment to a non-existent god. If you infer some Christian message within it then you may as well assign that same message to a TV ad in which someone declares a love for a Big Mac.
this was back when a song was created like a piece of diamond and music really touched everyone's hearts singers were truly talented unlike today it's like everything is for money singers dont need to be able to sing that perfectly just good looking and put them to a few singing classes then boom! they sell millions of copies....wtf?
It's sad because nowadays love isn't what love was back then when you were TRUELY in love. People today always want to just find someone they think they feel close to. But back then most of the time it wasn't always about getting in bed but caring for others. I'm not bashing the people today but it feels like true love was mostly back then.
There has never been anyone's vocals that was/is as smooth as velvet like Nat King Cole. And that White man sitting at the table looked like he was getting jealous that his White woman was mesmerized with Nat King Cole.
What I appreciate most about Nat's singing (along with his amazing tone) is his ability to deliver a melody without ever over-singing or showing off. It was about conveying the emotion in the lyric and he was the master.
Thumbs up if you think most of the comments are of people slightly intoxicated!! :D

kevinastraw 11 months ago
@kevinastraw I would personally add that it is also a song where the man and the woman care about what each other feels, so they are at the same level, they have not any kind of love, but a desire for a love where they both are free to feel the same way, and thats the basis for everything. Love and Respect for eachother. Don't you agree with me?
Thank you for comment!

@soundslikeblue Your comment actually makes no sense whatsoever.

@kevinastraw

It makes sense to me.

why does the foreverness of love have to make sense?

@kevinastraw Your comment represents the purest, the most unadulterated ignorance imaginable. It's simply a love song, delivered from one person to another without acknowledgment to a non-existent god. If you infer some Christian message within it then you may as well assign that same message to a TV ad in which someone declares a love for a Big Mac.

This must be from a movie called "Istanbul", since I spotted Errol Flynn there...

Nat King Cole conked his hair... It's strange to think of Nat King Cole as being a part of Malcolm X's, Redd Foxx's, and Muhammed Ali's generation.

this was back when a song was created like a piece of diamond and music really touched everyone's hearts singers were truly talented unlike today it's like everything is for money singers dont need to be able to sing that perfectly just good looking and put them to a few singing classes then boom! they sell millions of copies....wtf?

It's sad because nowadays love isn't what love was back then when you were TRUELY in love. People today always want to just find someone they think they feel close to. But back then most of the time it wasn't always about getting in bed but caring for others. I'm not bashing the people today but it feels like true love was mostly back then.

isn't the gent at the table Errol Flynn?
Wilfslad 11 months ago
He was truely great. Voice of an angel. But, him thinking it would help, he smoked 3 packs a day, especially before shows.
