  • "When in doubt, have it behave like a dog" is a rule that quite a lot of people seem to go for when using animal characters. I don't mind when it's played for laughs or done inconspicuously, but it does get old. For example, when a character encounters a vicious-looking beast that may or may not be an alien life form of some sort and throws a stick, you can bet your arse that the creature will fetch it and wag its tail if it has one.
