  • You can change the 4 way into an 8 way on the x-arcade... Seems like you didn't read the manual very closely. X-arcade even has a video showing how to flip it on their website.

  • When he says "eight-way", is he talking about an octagonal restrictor gate or a square gate? They're both technically offer "eight-way" movement.

  • @TheApatheticGuy Usually when you say "Way" how many points the gate has or arrow like edges. So Square Gate would be 4 way. Octagon gate is 8 way.

  • Your review is verry nice with a lot of informations about this stick. But this stick is not the bigges whoe made for homeplaying. The biggest is the HSS-0130 for Sega Saturn. A hughe controller and rebuild original from the sega astro city arcade machine. with an adapter you can play on dreamcast great arcade games like virtua tennis.

  • Its too bad they don't have a switch or something for four-way movement.

  • @vakaholic You're a lunatic, I've never had an issue with the tankstick.

  • @vakaholic Oh pardon me I own an xarcade stick. I must know NOTHING about arcade games. You sir are an arcade god. QUICK, get this man a trophy! Or better yet, get this man a tutorial on how to GET OVER HIMSELF.

  • @vakaholic If this is stock trash then I must like stock trash. It works great and is very responsive to my games. It even has its own personal hater in vakaholic. Man the X-Arcade has it all!

  • @vakaholic Man, you love to express your enjoyment of Hori dicks er.... sticks and madcatz. I get it now. First of all, we've said that xarcade sticks work fine for us so what are you bitching about? Second, what the fuck does owning an xarcade have anything to do with what games I play? Third, take that stupid "stock trash" argument and shove it up your ass because that's the only thing you can come up with. You're pathetic, have fun jerking the Hori dick. Mr. "COMPETITION PARTS!" Get a life!

  • Comment removed

  • @vakaholic 10 people seem to agree with me while nobody likes your bitchass. I'm done with you dude. You're a joke. Have a nice life.

  • Comment removed

  • @vakaholic not my fault you can't afford it. And god you must have a boner for pacman because that's all you say. Give up dude, nobody likes you.

  • @vakaholic I take the internet seriously? lol you're the one going on videos just to be a dick and run your mouth. It's okay though. I'll let you pretend like you achieved something by getting the last word. I refuse to continue traded barbs with you. Have fun making yourself look foolish. I'll leave you with this note. If you were nothing more than a cum stain on daddy's sheet, the world would be a better place. ZING!

  • @kandimaineman I chuckle every time I see this comment.

  • @vakaholic try Rolling Thunder(new version) and Cobra-Command(Japan) on Mame and then tell me about it

  • @vakaholic What are you talking about? This is one of the best -- if not THE best -- controller available. A buddy of mine has had one for six years, and it's rock solid. So are both of my X-Arcade units.

  • @nebby6 cute, so because you and a buddy have had good working units that makes it the best? it's obvious that you didn't read a fuckin word i said so i'll retype some of it out for you like you're a child. X-arcade uses STOCK parts, not competition parts, and they also use STOCK GARBAGE PCB's, does that make it a bad stick? you're damn right it does, and best stick on the market..? are you trolling? madcatz TE look it up. Hori RAP Premium VLX. Look it up. Happ competition, look it up.

  • @vakaholic So, I looked the Hori RAP Premium VLX up. And for $360.00, it had better be as good as you say it is. Anyone can make a great controller, if they're being paid enough to do it. Hell, I could make a one that's better than anything you've mentioned, simply by using parts from classic arcade machines. For example, the 1982 TRON coin-op uses memory metal for its buttons and joystick, so it'll never wear out. But, the factors for a marketable product are price-point and availability.

  • @nebby6

well i only listed those sticks because captain faggot below said that the Tankstick was the best stick you could get for money and i called him out on his lack of fucking knowledge listing sticks 100x better.

  • @vakaholic Well, you've proven two things: 1) You're a child. 2) You write posts to see your own comments (i.e. you like to listen to yourself talk). Have a nice life, kid. My advice is to choose your battles wisely in the future.

  • I like that keyboard layout and this is my first time hearing about it though. I have not played many games in Linux though. It is a good platform to do it since it don't crash so much like Windows does. I have two different versions on a netbook, and on a tower.

  • @semco72057 it works with all os so you can play it on windows as well

  • will it work with the ps3?

  • @Browncurse with an adapter...

  • i have questions 1 how does this work with xbox 360 like how do u open up the xbox guide 2 how can i talk online with it ??? do i need a wireless mic or what

  • @linuxjournalonline- can this joystick hook up to a tv?

  • Ive seen bigger game controllers, aka wheels with pedals and shifters.. its still a controller

  • it might be a good controller for fighting games. This guy is an idiot. You can adjust as a 4-way though even though X-Arcade sucks as a 4-way. I also got a Pacman plug n play 12-1 with the built in joystick for $20 and this has a better feel and respond than the X-Arcade which is sad.

  • Biggest controller? Ever saw the Steel Batallion controller?

  • Xarcade is a decent joystick in stock form but you need to install a Happ Competition or iL Eurojoystick with convex buttons to get true American style feel and responsiveness. The durability and sturdiness of the X-arcade is unmatched, no problem there at all. Get the X-arcade solo because the two player controls are wayyy too close you will bump shoulders homo

  • i have two one for mame and 1for nintendo wii

  • the ending is too much lough

  • I just got this controller and it's pretty good.

  • I used to have that! To bad its in storage.

  • were do i buy one!!

  • May I suggest buying computers that did not come with windows. :D

  • You can actually change the joystick to 4-way. There's instructions on how to do that on their website.

  • does this hook right up using a usb interface or does it have to be all wired up to use it?

  • That looks WAY better than the $150.00 MVC2 stick and cheaper too!

  • Is this worth the money really? Its expensive as shit.

  • I wonder id they have a (4) way joystick option...

  • Pause at 2:32, and you will see the end of the world. lol

  • if you guys play mame emulator only thing you do is start a game in the game push tab. it gives you alot of otpin go to the second controler option it gives you all th game controll option.you just push

enter to a button you want to use and push a button on the arkade stick you done just reapet. the game will save the controlls.

  • can I beat the crap of this control like used to on the real arcades? >=D

  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure. It's built like a friggin' tank.

  • what is the track ball for?

  • trackball games

  • milipede & centipede @_@

  • It's just another way to control it, but it might be only for certain games.

  • No. All games benefit from it tremendously! Even more than I thought previously, and I did have quite high hopes. It's absolutely best for vertical shooters in my opinion, but also fighting games get real new kick out of X-Arcade. My unit doesn't have a trackball though.. but I recommend it for everyone - you don't know what you are missing until you try it out! It has a lifelong warranty by the way, as it's very sturdy and very well built.

  • I was replying to someone's question.

  • Oh, sorry about that, I realize my mistake now. You were talking about the trackball, not the X-Arcade itself. I really should read these comments with 'view all comments' and not just the way youtube shows them by default (it's kind of weird how youtube doesn't show the reply-structure until you click on 'view all comments', but I guess that's because they want to always show the NEW comments first, or something..)

  • Now, a proper reply to this.. yes, there are many 'analog' games out there, that of course -can- be played with a digital way but it's just not the same. For example driving games, flying games, and some pretty unique games like Quantum. I wish I had purchased the trackball version too, but can't be helped now.. I hope there was an Atari/Vic20-type paddles-controller that could be used with a modern PC..

  • Sega HSS-0130 completely destroys every single dual stick ever created.

  • on the x-arcade website it says its compatible with pretty much every gaming system...but theres nothing mentioned about the 360, is it just plugged in through the usb or has it become finally unanimously decided that the 360 is shite :p jks guys

  • M$ Doesnt allow just any 3rd party accessories to work on their system. They have given special rights to certain companies. The xgaming website does explain this if you check out the adapters section and look up the 360 adapter theres a picture of it with a big ? on it. It'll explain better there. But there is a way to play 3rd party accessories its kinda tedious what you have to go through to set it up. Plug in item A to item B to wired controller then plug item C into item B its annoying...

  • they have been working on the 360, but no, right now there is no compatibility for the 360

  • @thepoopsniff I'm not sure If they're working on the 360 compatibility, but works on the PS3, PS2, Wii, and Gamecube as well as the computer. I hope so because I have a 360 as well.

  • X arcade is perfect for Pac-Man. i play that game all the time, It never misses a direction, I Had my stick for 4 years now works perfect for every game.

  • ((: Just ordered one :))

  • I want!

  • will this work on a windows 98

  • Probably.

  • thanks

  • If you use the PS/2 keyboard connector, I think it might work on Windows 98. The computer thinks that the X-Arcade is a keyboard -- which means no configuration is necessary.

  • Also, on a different note, you mention the 8 way sticks, these can be adjusted to be 4 way stick, check xgamings site on how to adjust them.

  • @l1fton3 you can get a 4 way only plate that goes on the bottom.

  • When the so called super strong tank stick arrived it was ALEADY BROKEN!!! I had to fix it in 2 places. year later circuit board doesnt work i ask for a new one but apparently the incredible lifetime warranty doesnt apply to me because i got it from the wrong place! >:( DONT BUY THIS

  • 1.) Yeah I'm the boss's kid so I'm the guy they all hate.

2.) When you get married and have a kid aren't you supposed to give up on all

fun things like video games and arcade emulation (because of course those are selfish activities). and aren't you supposed to only do things like listen to your spouse whine while you watch csi and your kid swears at you and runs to her room crying?

  • how do you get more games for it?

  • I have the solo, i bought it for the original xbox, i'm ordering the usb connector for street fighter 4 on pc. W00t!

  • I'm from toronto, which store carrys this arcade joystick?

  • I'm ordering mine from the site, it costs $229.90 to buy it AND ship it to Toronto. I'm Canadian too, so yeah.

  • Hey man, i live in toronto too, im assuming you already got yours already, i just have a couple questions

did you order just the xarcade stick? or did you have to select some kind of internal/external input...because that's what it asks, i only want to use it on my computer, not really sure if i have to order one of those.

    and, do you like it?

  • the reviewer neglected to mention you can set it to 4 way mode by opening the back

  • can i get one for free since mine broke by just taking it back and geting a new one =(

  • Huh? If you bought one you would know that they come with a lifetime warranty.

  • with out a (recent)the little white paper thing with my money on it and where i got the xarcade.so im good =)

  • my dad bought a single player one today

  • i bou

  • Does this work with a PS3?

  • yes

  • It looks slick, and I like that fact that it has two player capabilitiy, have you played with it? I'm just curious to know how well it works with fighters

  • it's like sex but better.

  • @FrostBytePCz LOL you made my day :D THX a lot

  • The parts really aren't authentic parts. It's hard to tell if you haven't played in an arcade in awhile. You're better off building your own.

  • I guess, the quality of the X arcade has had mixed reviews, on top of that it's not exactly cheap. I think I'll just look around, I don't know how to make my own but I guess I can get someone to do that for me.

  • Now I have to work overtime this week so I can save some money for this controller. Great Job.

  • Wow really kool

  • You could always open it up and put a switch in there to disable the diagonals ie 8-4 mode switch.

  • Well, the "Diagonals" are actually when the up and left microswitches are pressed at the same time. (There's no actual diagonal switches) I've seen physical restrictor plates that attempt to force 4-way, but I'm not sure if it would be easy to put into the X-Arcade.

Thanks for the comment though. If there is an easy way to make the joystick 4-way, that would make an awesome controller even... awesomer! ;)

  • its on the bottom of the tank stick, theres a way to squeeze the restrictor plates when u open it up. welcome

  • Ooh, now I want one. Great review. :)

  • 4:36

Why not peel that M$ sticker off man...

  • I actually noticed that *while* I was filming. I could claim it was to serve as a reminder of the frustrating hold MS has on OEMs... But honestly it's just laziness. :)

  • Ha ha

I must say however I am pretty proud of my "Powered by ubuntu Sticker" ~ Good ol system76

Hey, ever thought of doing a review of the Koala mini?

  • another cool review, great job ;)

  • Thanks. :) It was fun, that's for sure.
