yeeeeeees!!!!! you hellped so much hahah i didnt know how to to turn the beat down and was yelling in the mic but i didint know all you had to do was turn down the gain
i got windows now thinking about going to linux will all my usb gear work on linux and my adobe audition1.5 wht i have is digitech rp250 midi contro and sound blaster exsternal all usb ran i now you got to have wine will wine let me install all the drives for it all on cd for all
performance-wise, do you think using Linux with Ardour for music recording and production is faster, more stable and less cpu-intense than using Windows 7 with, say, Caubase 5?
Less CPU usage, yes. Audacity doesn't put the strain on your system that Cubase does. I have Windows 7 and Cubase LE5... Cubase obviously allows you to do way more things to your audio, it's professional quality software.. So that CPU usage is there for a reason..
@agirotto1 linux with ardour is much more efficient than any software I've worked with on in windows 7. windows 7 is already a CPU hog, and any music software combined with it (ESPECIALLY ABLETON 8) are definitely not nearly as efficient as linux with most linux audio programs.
@jaymotocross6 I've worked with both ableton live 7 (8 on windows 7) and reason 5 on xp, vista, and windows 7. so far, reason 5 on xp has been the most efficient (I can run it on the minimal requirements and it runs totally error-free)
This video just motivated me to get another Linux box up and running with all the bells and whistles as far as hardware goes. I got hardy running on an old box serving up multiple sites and I just got a new hobbie...Making Music!
I'm sure writing drum tracks in LMMS would be easier than in Cubase or Pro-Tools. What has your experience been like?
Think i can find a driver for my Yamaha Audiogram 6? That would be cool if I could. I hate using winblows!
@FuzzyMcButterWink i've been using seq24 for drumtracks (with hydrogen connected to seq24) and zynaddsubfx sounds. i tried lmms a year ago and couldnt get into it, plus i think it froze up on me a couple of times so i just ditched it, but maybe it has improved since then...
@FuzzyMcButterWink i upgraded to ubuntu 10.10 and posted a video showing a quick run through of how to link these programs together using jack and patchage:
@williams7550 HAHAHAHAHA get fucked YOU go buy pro tools. we dont NEED it. Ardour has MORE features and is more complicated (in good ways) (more technical) than your protools. So again, get fucked. Why did pro tools sue Ardour? Did they get their butts hurt like $cientology?
Do you have the jack leads going straight from the amp into the line-in? From experience (using guitars and synths) this gives poor results! I looked into it and found that you need a di-box or a usb interface to regulate the impedance. This greatly increased the quality of my recording from both guitar and synth. I'm actually using a guitar amp-modelling box which does the same job. It takes away all of the hiss and prevents clipping (which causes unwanted distortion). I'm pretty new to this!
i'm pretty new to this too, but this is all the equipment i have for right now. ideally you would want a mixer or something or like you say some kind of usb/firewire audio interface.
