I see and hear these fly daily. Most of the time you cant even see them because they go so fast and their color hides them fairly well. Fun to watch but the constant noise can drive you nuts. We use to have the A-10's but traded them in for the F-15 a couple years ago. I miss the A-10's and their screaming noise. F-15's sound like thunder on steroids all day long.

My best friend flew this animal up until last year when he was promoted to Major. He took a slot flying the U-2 and has been doing that for the last year. I asked him if he thought the U-2 was his dream job or if he had his sights set on something else. His exact words were "If I didn't have a family, I'd have never left the fighter. The locals in Afghanistan refer to it as the plane that brings the thunder." I didn't know what to say other than "wow."

This is neat. But tiger cruise aircraft demonstrations are a little bit more impressive. Why? The jets get to go full supersonic during the low passes when you're out on the ocean. (Wont be the F-15, but F-18s can put on a decent show. Still not quite with the kick the ol' F-14s had.)

@skateboy159 There was a documentary on the history channel where the pilot said that in full burner the F-15E would conume all the fuel it caried in roughly 10 minutes. Thats 3 external tanks and internal load!

All fighters in the US Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps are what as referred to as dual role platforms capable of changing modes from air-to-air, and air-to-ground. Even the retired F-14D transitioned to the ground attack role. All of these tactical fighters can conduct missions unescorted...

I love how the air passes over the ends of the wing you get those little tubes of air of each wing tip looks very cool, then the cloud/air passing over the cockpit, top of th plane looks very cool

That was a great demo, really warmed me up and made me feel like the day wasn't gonna be a total loss. I'll tell you what I'm glad to have been there for the demo where "Ritz" chose to take up next year's pilot. That demo was far from routine as he just beat the snot out of Oceana......not to mention, rumor has it that he also beat the snot out of his plane during this demo. Over-G-ed the aircraft from what I've heard.

lol its alright. it was cloudy/heavy overcast the whole day with about 5nm visability. Ceiling kept going up and down and caused a ton of performer cancellations. Oceana this year ended up being a dud, especially Sunday....

@nitro8997 where did u get your info? F-15Es are gonna be flying for a LONG LONG time! If the B-52 has been flying since the mid 1950s and is going to be retired in 2045, I think the Eagle is gonna continue on. I tell you. the F-15E Strike Eagle is one awesome plane!

Ya I just heard the F-15 wouldn't fly, but the F-15E would. I guess just the Eagle is out, but the Strike Eagle will live for some time!

By the way, I think it would be great for the B-52 to serve a little longer than 2045, so that it could be distinguished as the first plane (and probably only) to ever serve for 100 years.
