  • Forget the politics. They seemed to have glossed over just how culturally and technically difficult it would be to break into China, even if the Chinese government had welcomed them with open arms.

    In the time it takes them to attempt to entrench and gain dominance elsewhere, China - heck, Asia - may have built very competitive alternatives that would make the Google vs Baidu rivalry look trivial.

  • @utubesqueeze You're so right. Facebook would have to compete with so many other platforms (RenRen, QQ, Tabao, etc) that it almost seems stupid for them to even think about coming to China. As of right now, I don't see any technology in our country outdoing the growth of QQ, not to mention RenRen.
