Dekalb County School System in Atlanta allowed bullies to bully me without doing anything to them. When I acted out they expelled ME. They RUINED my life by ignoring the problem and allowed those bullies to stay in school without ANY punishment. THIS IS THE SAME SCHOOL SYSTEM who just had a student commit suicide. As a result of their cavalier attitude I now live with AIDS and can't get a job. GREAT JOB DEKALB COUNTY. You deserve the Idi Amin Humanitarian of the Year Award!
Anyone who contemplates killing themselves because of "mean words" is mentally unstable to begin with. What ever happened to the old truism of "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me?"
How did society reach the point that words alone became a recognized causal factor in suicide? And, that the people who do contemplate killing themselves were normal, stable people except for the mean words?

The guy (Alex) at the very beginning of the video paints his face up to look like a freak because he obviously wants to be one, then he wants the right to complain because people actually notice? What's up with that?

My son was horribly harassed & bullied in middle school& in the 1st year of High School. He has a mild learning disability but is one of the most gentle, kind people you will ever meet. We took our kids out of public schools & put them in a private schools, with excellent results. We're fortunate to have that as an option & we know most people don't. Bullies are created.Their victims need every voice if support they can get..
As a Mom, I just want to put my arms around these kids.

And typically the bullies are only interested in popularity and trying to be funny. Usually though these bullies are very insecure and get into a habit of externalizing their emotions onto others.

I have had the privilege of meeting all and getting to know most of those who are telling their stories through this project. The moral courage and inner strength to tell these stories -- especially for those who to this day continue to be bullied -- is nothing short of awe inspiring. Hold your heads up high, for you have stolen the power from those who would bully you -- you have seized their ability to make you afraid.
