I have to do a project on 1930's music too. Guess I can't use this video cause that's cheating :( lemme guess: To kill a mocking bird inspired project?
@RedVelvetIcing No such thing as bad music, only music thats not to your taste.
My dad thought most of the music i listened to in the early 70s was rubbish, his parents generation thought the likes of Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis was the music of the devil, and the generation before them, brought up on music hall, thought the sort of music you are listening to here was noisy garbage.
Music progresses with the generations, thank god it does, it would be a bloody boring world otherwise.
The 1930's were indeed an amazing time for music and culture but this video does not reflect the 1930's. The version of "Puttin' on the Ritz" is NOT a 1930's recording. The song is from 1930 but this recording was done in the 1950's and in that style. Also - the film clip is from 1941 - not the 1930's. There is indeed a difference:)
@RedVelvetIcing Thats why i truly love classic music from these decades because they use real instruments and every artist is honestly talented unlike today where artists only get in for their looks, get covered up by auto tune and fancy lights, provacative lyrics and clothes and nearly every song is sex obsessed!
I love the music and fashion of the thirties and the fourties too but i'm grateful i never lived in that time, with all that happened but the music is sooo good. :)
To all you wankers who wished you were alive during the 30s, WAKE UP!!!!!!!!
You have everything you could want now, all the money you could ask for and you wsnt to live in an undeveloped world with the war going on?! Why would you can exchange a generation where people actually DIED to somewhere where you can be healthy and happy! I asked people who experienced the 30s and they said no way in hell was it a pleasant time! Get back into reality! The world hasn't always been nice!!!
I like music from the 30s, but I swear, anyone who wishes they actually LIVED through the 30s must be seriously retarded! You wonder why it's called THE GREAT DEPRESSION?? People had no jobs, lost their money in the war, houses were bombed, streets were dirty? Yeah what a smashing time that was! Be grateful that at least you have a job, a proper house and loads of money! You wouldn't survive in the 30s today!
It wasn't my grandparents but my parents who introduced me to the blues - omg and the Mills brothers. I grew up listening to this music and I'm so thankful for them. lol xD I never learned to dance though, it looks like they're flying!
No no no, guys its alright, when Al Capone finds out people disliked this he'll raise from the grave with a few of his boys and visit the people who disrespected such a fine piece of history
Who cares?! Except for dullards like you who think your slander is better than their slander. You’re the same, meaning you don’t enjoy music; it’s just a tool for you to use to stroke your egos. If you can, shut up, lean back and tap your toes with the rest of us who love life!
when making these comments, it isn't inherent that you must criticize, rather it is to encourage folks to share what music is supposed to inspire: enjoyment of life, celebration, an escape from the hardship of life or perhaps a poignant enhancement of a trouble time. Certainly, when reading arguments over rap and metal while listening to this era of music, the point is missed just like shallow political partisans who argue tit for tats. Who cares?!
Just some constructive criticism: During the Astaire song, there was an awful lot going on simultaneously; text to read, pictures to look at, lyrics and melody to listen to. The next video was far more enjoyable because I could concentrate.
@mbenzsl2000 yeah. 80s and 90s rap was like tupac, wu tang etc. now its like t-pain. big difference. the rap now sucks so bad. the metal now is kind of a hit or miss though.
