There is only that illusion because ironically enough, the sub-elitists (aka weeaboos) don't speak a word of Japanese. Ask any Japanese about the voice of an anime character and you may get the same reaction as your average sub-elitists. Ask Shinichiro Watanabe which language he prefers for Cowboy Bebop.
