  • So, Poncho Villa was a politician ~ now I get it !

  • Let's saddle up and rob the liquor store!

  • Amazing ! I missed him the last time he was in Chicago - just last week -

Fitzgeralds in Berwyn. I was out of town. Thank you, Tom, for your excellent song writing and music.

In my lifetime, one of the very best .. Love, Marianne. Keep 'em coming .. they

just get better. Hope to see you at Fitzgerald's next time .. !!!!

  • @Imissthepostoffice Well okay, maybe it was 3 weeks ago. Alright .. I have been out of town a lot. and it's

hard to keep track. Just keep doing what you're doing please.

It is a fresh breath and a joy to hear someone who has a talent .. Like Guy Clark or Robert Earl Keen, but you

top them all, according to my book. Absolutely !

  • If anyone has access to guitar sheet music or tablature for this awesome song, please post a link in the comments.

  • I finally got to see Rom Russell live this week, and I still have stars in my eyes. The man is a tremendous entertainer and storyteller.

  • I love this song but I always kind of cringe when the lead guitarist screws up during both solos. It doesn't sound that bad, but I can see the anger/disappointment in his face.

Anyway, seeing Tom Russell live was as close to the imaginary divine as possible.

  • I adore this song... I bought the whole record, and it's definitely one of my favorites!! soooo damn good

  • i can't count how many times i listened to this song back when i moved out west. it seems like it should be played out or cliched or something, but it's flat-out insane how representative of the american southwest this music and these lyrics are. still brings me back to my years in tucson the second he starts playing.

  • lol i have the same name as him xD

  • this is my first time hearing Tom Russell and I am blown away! This dude is one helluva songwriter. Wow. Guess I've been living under a rock.

  • After all these years, I'm still wondering what the hell "the year of aught 16" is...19016? Nevertheless, it's a great song.

  • @lpfeffa haha, wow, i somehow never noticed that before. aw well, the guy's a musician, not a math major, apparently.

  • Missed him in concert here in upper Michigan...dang! He is a fine songwriter and performer. Thanks for posting this.

  • Having listen to this constant for 7 hours because somebody forgot the CD player on repeat over night, im now hooked. Does not matter if I originally liked it or not, bottom line is I now Love it!

" If we drink our self to death, aint that the cowboy way to go?"

  • Instrumentals on this song were awesome!

  • I Love his songs. Tom is a wonderful & great country music singer.

  • Blow me away....

  • Tom's got a brand new album out called "Blood and Candle Smoke". It is wonderful as usual! This guy makes me wanna knock off a bank!

  • My first time hearing this - great talent and song!

    Thank you, very much.

    I enjoyed this.

  • How can you not tap your feet!!!! Seen him live in Sandinos, Derry Northern Ireland a few years ago . Acted like a guy who just walked off the street and played a few tunes. A word I don't like but.......Awsome

  • No 4, in my best ever songs.

  • Tom Russell is on his way to Reno!

  • Still great!

Lucky me, saw him in Oslo, Norway several times at Cruise Café, Rockefeller & Palace Grill.

The classic eightie's albums deserves re-mastering (great music, terrible sound)

  • This is SO GOOD. I wish he looked as sexy as his song! If you like this, check out early Joe Ely.

  • Holy Sh%t I wanna be a COWBOY!!!

  • one of America's greatest songwriters...goodebumps all o'er!!!

  • Im 11 and just saw him, he's awesome.

  • one of the best songs ever made

  • My opinion of Letterman just rose about 20 points for liking Tom Russell songs... I guess that brings Letterman up to about a -5 now.

  • He's had Nancy Griffith on the show, too. He's got pretty good taste in music.

    -jcr

  • -5, are you crazy?

  • I hope he tours England soon. I'd love to see him over here.

  • hey mate he's always in ireland - my uncle has booked him loads he's great..

  • El Paso Texas Sound!!!!!!!

  • fuck pancho villa

  • Amazing, brutally honest commentary on life and love - couldn't believe my ears. Now a huge a fan of both Russell and Ferlinghetti!

  • david letterman has hot balls!

  • soy mexicano y me gusta su estilo.

  • I can't get enough of this guy lately. He's amazing... I really like all of his stuff.

  • Great number to bring Tom to the masses! Bravo!

  • I just saw Tom live yesterday afternoon in Elko, NV. It was a very intimate, quaint concert. What a wonderfully talented singer/songwriter/musician, certainly a legend in his time. Not only is he sincere, but he is gracious. I'm a fan for life - kudos to you, Tom.

  • Awesome.

  • well, hell fire, what a great song

  • Awesome. These guys (Russell/Hardin) just keep working and getting better and better every year. I learned to play guitar thanks to Tom. I sat like 6 feet away from Hardin at a house concert once and have never seen anyone rip meaner riffs.

  • Amazing. Tom is one of a kind. I love this song!

  • What a great singer/songwriter. Thanks for posting.
