The answer is profit margins are flexible on products. The investors will demand the profit margin be kept high, but competitions will keep the price low. Not to mention most Corporations answers to investors, so regardless if the person in charge gets taxed more, the product's price won't change much, if they want to remain competitive.

Actual wealth that has manifested has not. The US GDP and annual income is not infinite. Of the part of the US GDP that is made up from tax revenue the bottom 95% pay the majority of it it. Of the US's financial assets the top 10% own 90% of the nation's financial assets.

You can cut as big a piece as you wish without limiting any other persons piece. The top half of American income earners pay almost all of the federal taxes.

Forests aren't being planted at nearly a widespread or fast enough rate to outpace deforestation. 50% of the world's trees are already gone.

People who couldn't truly afford the loans would move into houses they couldn't truly afford and when the banks charged them high interest rates the people couldn't pay up. The ease in credit caused the 2003-2007 housing bubble.

The answer is profit margins are flexible on products. The investors will demand the profit margin be kept high, but competitions will keep the price low. Not to mention most Corporations answers to investors, so regardless if the person in charge gets taxed more, the product's price won't change much, if they want to remain competitive.

Really? The national debt grew from $0.9 Trillion under Carter to $3 Trillion under Ronald Reagan. Under Bush I it grew to almost $4 Trillion. Under Bush II it grew from $5.6 to almost $11 Trillion. Looks like it's been mostly Republicans pissing away trillions over the past 30 years. Bush II cut R&D funding for NASA (he didn't even fund Project Constellation) and Ronald Reagan wasted money on "Star Wars" instead of energy.

@A86 At the current rate of spending Obama will surpass all previous presidents combined if he is reelected. We don't have a taxation issue, we have a spending issue. Of course the Republican's aren't talking about R&D, THERE'S NO MORE MONEY! Blame whoever you want, Reagan's military spending, Clinton's mortgage and Enron and WorldCom and 9/11 fiascoes, Bush's rubber stamp, Obama's historical wasteful spending beyond any comprehension, it's GONE.

@BriansVideoHobby - All previous presidents combined? Bush spent a grand total of $11 Trillion during his 8 years in office. Obama has yet to spend that much. That's hardly as much as "all previous Presidents combined".

@A86 We were talking about debt spending. Grow up.
Of course we weren't invest in R&D, we had cheap energy. Now we don't have cheap energy and we could have solved our energy problems, improved the environment, and created a new powerful industry for export but instead we filled a few potholes and got some park benches we can't maintain.

@BriansVideoHobby - And what's one of the main problems that's causing debt? Tax cuts. You also spouted nonsense about taxes such as falsely claiming that the top 50% pay most of the taxes, which isn't true either. Want me to link to the IRS?
Anyway, people have been talking about the Energy problem since the late 60s. Most people haven't been taking them seriously. Part of the problem is much of the established business community has a vested interest in us not investing in R&D.

@BriansVideoHobby - Investment in R&D and application of alternative energy would be a big disservice to the Coal and Oil industries. Hence why people like the Koch Brothers are investing in bribing politicians to not put money into those venues.

@BriansVideoHobby - Of course Obama is a wasteful spender but every president has been since after Kennedy to varying degrees (though Bush did much more damage to the mortgage industry than Clinton).

@A86 Obama is debt spending at an untenable level has already spiraled out of control. Next year we may look like Greece when reality hits that we cut now and cut deep or we fail as an economy.
So Bush did more damage than deregulating mortgage derivatives, ordering Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make half of there loans sub-prime, and strong arming banks into making sub-prime loans? That's news to me.

@BriansVideoHobby - I never said Obama is doing better than Bush. He's been doing what every President since LBJ and Nixon have been doing: spending and charging expenditures to our tab instead of paying it forward. Now the bill is coming in with interest.

He did do that as well, the same as Clinton did. Most of the sub-prime loans were not from "strong-arming" banks into making the loans.

@BriansVideoHobby - Most of the problematic loans occurred from the "American Dream Initiative" and more so from the "Zero Down Payment Act" which allowed banks to hand out sub-prime loans to uninformed people with no background checks necessary and no down payment. People who couldn't truly afford the loans would move into houses they couldn't truly afford and when the banks charged them high interest rates the people couldn't pay up. The ease in credit caused the 2003-2007 housing bubble.
