I think why there is confusion over the translation is because its literal. Hence the phrase "lost in translation." the part that says parachutes white flower is translated correctly. However due to the many differences between russian and english, I think americans would say parachutists descending under a white canopy.

I get that translation is always imprecise but that clearly shows ..in the only two words I can easily identify that the translation is not just ' a little off' but at least for those verses.. its completely unrelated to whatever they are actually saying.
