  • Of course Ferrari's, Lambo's, GTR's and Audi's have a more luxurious interior than the ZR1. It's something nice the manufacturers do so the owners of the fine automobiles have a pleasant place to sit while waiting for the tow truck. Also their beautifully appointed dash boards are a swell place for their owners to rest their heads in shame after being spanked by a ZR1.

  • as a Porsche owner I have a Corvette brochure in my hand and I just love the new Corvette. It is just a monster of a car and simply fantastic eengineering. I am curious about maintenance but then again .. who cares .. I expect to burn of brakes and tires when one puts over 500 BHP on the ground. Truely the ZR1 is an awesome beast of a machine. Very very rare also.

  • Very impressive and ballsy driving, especially considering he's always on the verge of losing the rear-end because of the less advanced aerodynamics compared to European cars. The 'vette seems to make up for it with a superbly tuned engine and very good transmission settings, and he can work those curbs much more efficiently, a Ferrari or Koeniggsegg would have smashed his diffuser to pieces if he'd drive like that. And again, that driver is really good!

  • The ZR1 has just posted an even quicker time: 7:24.4, driven by Marc Basseng. That's just 0.1 sec slower than a Maserati MC12, 0.3 sec quicker than the Pagani Zonda F Clubsport and almost a second quicker than the Enzo! Pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

  • I do get oh-so-tired of this. This is a *STOCK* ZR-1 with *STOCK* tires. It's what you get out of the $110K model. Only things added were safety. And it was driven by a GM Engineer. In other words, if you plop down US$110K, this is the type of performance you get.

    Not a "hardcore" package. Not a "racing/track outfit" change. Not with specialized drivers and not with anything else. Even the Dodge Viper ACR, which is also a bargain, bests it by 4s as well.

    No 1/3-1mil or race drivers req

  • Seriously here, never seen so many people ready to knock a bargain, production car as you get from the factory -- with push-rod technology no less. Last time I checked, Pratt-Miller and several other US-based and manufacturer teams do quite well by taking Chevy designs and maximizing their potential. Especially since Chevy finally reversed their long-standing attitude on racing and started taking it seriously in the 21st century -- made all the difference. But by all means, continue to bash.

  • LF-A's unofficial time is 7 min 24 sec flat. unofficial official same thing, what matters is it has been accomplished by a driver with the LF-A. That's pretty damn good time already. Give it some months or a year and watch that time drop.... expect to see 7 min 22 sec or better. it's eating corvette zr-1 already. Lexus is just the better car in every category and RAPES it in terms of quality and refinement.

  • That is the base, stock '09 C6 ZR1, including base tires, no upgrades, no frills. Frankly, I think they should give you the 4ZR package (sweet leather interior) as standard. This isn't your father's C3, C4 or even C5 era. The magnetic ride and 1.10G capable grip makes this the ultimate blue collar supercar.

    The Enzo may have better downforce, but it doesn't do much with that downforce. It does not go faster at high speed turns. Enzo is only faster to 60, then the ZR1 beats it in straights. The ZR1 can pull more Gs and has better slalom speed. OWNED.

The faster you go the more air resistance there is; therefore more power is needed to accelerate at a slower rate (in laymens terms) also, extreme down force requires more power to push the extra weight along. Just simple physics lol

  • Of course you get more wind resistance the faster you go, but the Enzo has better gearing and the power comes rise at higher rpms. Corvette on the other hand runs out of breath at the top ends. Enzo is simply the better car...

  • i will agree that the zr1s door panels arent shit lol but it wont take the high speed kinks like an enzo or accelerate faster at the speed youre taking them (130-140). the enzos aerodynamics are much more advanced, thats why its top speed is over 10 mph higher. at low speed manuveurs like the slalom and skidpad it will get beaten but its younger sister (the mc12) has noticeably more grip. still not bad this low priced vette is comparable to old road going million dollar racecars!

  • zr-1 is an inferior car compare to the Enzo. Enzo is mid/rear engine, the vette is a lame ass front engine. that's why it performs poorly accelerating from a dig too. It even got beat by a Porsche 911 GT2 you stupid... Enzo is better balanced and much more sophisticated. you put a better driver in the Enzo and you'll see 7:21 at the ring. it can easily knock off 4 sec. The vette has no chance getting anywhere in that range.

  • The GT-R. Have you seen it's Nurburgring video, when it's going down the last long straight? I would be fucking terrified if I was in it, that thing was basically shaking. If you look at the comparison videos where they're both doing it in real time, you can clearly see the ZR1 is MUCH more stable at high speeds.

  • Holy hell that thing is moving, and the driver isn't even pusing it to the limit. There's loads of places he could have downshifted and it seems that sometimes he's braking early and gently. I can't wait to see a lap done by a professional driver.

    To the guy below, the Vspec is not expected to be any faster than the base GTR. Replacing a 50lb seat with carbon fiber in a 2-ton vehicle does very little as it turns out, except double the price tag apparently.

  • well its around 4 sec faster around Nissans private 4-5km track than a stock GTR. So im guessing around 21km track it will be significant. Saving over a 60kg will do very little correct. But the weight they have reduced is rotating mass (ie carbon brakes, wheels etc) every kg of rotating mass you save equals 6kg in the car. Lowering tthe unsprung weight improves acc, brake, cornering, improves fuel economy, allows you to use softer susp to get more out of the tires. vspec = ripoff i agree

  • The stock GT-R only runs 7:29 you retard. Both the 7:27.7 and 7:26.6 times are still unconfirmed, and are only factory claims by Nissan. Not to mention with the ZR1 not only do you get performance, you get everyday usability. In my opinion, the extra $20k is way more than worth it.

  • It's not called series, it's called generation. And no, you cannot just simply modify the generation 1 GT-R to a gen 2. The gen 2's suspension has been tweaked quite a bit, engine has been modified, etc, etc.
