  • This guy definitly doesn't know how to cook a good steak.

  • Stop putting fucking Olive oil on everything!

  • Turning the steak more than once?? Recommending MEDIUM? who does this joker think he is?

  • BARE HANDS RIGHT IN THE PAN GOOD JOB GUY

  • disgusting, how about boiling it first? Sorry that looks like a recipe to give someone worms in the stomach, yuck

  • gawd i wanna eat that steak!

  • is it possibale to cook a steak in a slow cooker and slow cook a steak,,

  • all of you make shitty fucking piece of shit steaks and do everything wrong, the way i cook it is the best

  • @jekakiril make a video almighty steak cooker

  • it should be fuking dry

  • lol so many wrong wstuff in here... Really salt it before cooking it ?

  • @sapzapgr

Of course you salt it before cooking it you retard. When the fuck else? So many fucking idiots here. There is nothing wrong with this method.

    @kirkland99

Pepper the steak only at the ends? What? No. Just no.. The pepper is fine in hot oil, just can't cook it for TOO long.

  • Forget to let it stand for 3-5 mins after cooking. This will give you a much more juicy steak. Just let it stand with some aluminum foi over it. Otherwise, I don't like the colour of the steak the way it is cook here. But hey, that's me :)

  • wow this guy has no idea what he's doing nor even talking about it! you forgot to finish it in boiling water

  • Well, I suppose we all have our different methods and ways of cooking our "perfect steak". I like to use a cast iron skillet; heat it as hot as possible and add the oil in the pan instead of on the steak (I think this definitely makes for a better crust, and easier to crust the fat on the side). I then add my salted and peppered steak to the pan, not flipping it constantly. Few minutes on each side, varies for thickness. Lastly, I place a knob of butter in the pan, basting it. Voila.

  • Im 12 and i know how to cook food

  • Mm

  • So you cook your steak in a nonstick pan, turn it "every minute," use "cheap olive oil" and give a pretty good insight that you don't have a clue. What made you decide to give us YT watchers your "how to"....???

  • whats the heat ???? fuck

  • Worse Steak show i have ever seen , First of all English man . What seasoning did you even use you don't say . What temp did you put the steak in and and how long to heat the pan at you don't say . What was the total time on each side " about you said " you don't say . OK NFL tail gate chief piss off and never make any videos again .

  • He used just salt and pepper, and rubbed it down with olive oil. What do you season yours with? Some times all you need is salt and pepper on a really good quality piece of meat.

  • @coldplasma1 Lets have some common sense dumbass, or do you need everything spelled out for you like a immature little baby? Seasoning is salt and pepper and olive oil (did you even watch the fucking video?), temperature is obviosuly on high, he said you want the pan as hot as possible, total time varies depending on size of steak dumbass or did you want him to measure his steak, lengh, height and width, you want him to hold your hand while you go buy it?..now go cry to mommy child.

  • @coldplasma1 do you even know what a steak is? cooking time depends on how you want it cooked as well, you are sorry piece of shit human being, go kill yourself

  • If the steak is thick, put a clean house brick triple-wrapped in foil on top to press the steak firmly to the pan, and flip once. If the pan is ribbed, turning the steak 90° once on each side before flipping makes for an X-style trellis effect as the steak cooks, very impressive presentation-wise. With the brick method, a high pan heat means that it gives you a well-seared caramelized steak on the outside and a juicy medium rare steak on the inside. You do not eat the house brick, by the way :-)

  • hmmmmm

  • 61 people eat tube steak lol

  • @DzNutz2009 no, 61 people know this isn't the real Jamie oliver

  • Looks like an unsatisfying steak to say the least. All of that oil at the end is disgusting.

  • just a question to thoses who made this or to the chef

why would yo put more oilve oil after the steak is done??

does it taste good with the oil?

    im just asking.., curious

  • @RoarSporkRoar12 I did not make the video, but I have put extra virgin oil on my steak at the end. It's a popular thing to do in Italian cooking, and that's because yes, it tastes good! Very good! Fat transfers meat flavor, and a drizzle of nice tasting olive oil makes every bite that much more rich and delicious.

  • my steak tastes great! thanks!

  • Awwww this is not Jamie :( :( :( Misleading uploader name.

  • How hot should the pan be? Low, med low, med, med high or high?

    Great vid!

    Thanks!

  • OMONOMONOMONOM i looooooveeeee steeaaakkk! with mash potatoes in the sides!

  • if you want you can visit my site where you have a good nature steak recipe and other home made traditional recipes and i'm working on uploading more :D onlinecookbook.beep.c o m

  • i am just turned 18 today and i go to live on my own in 1 month. And i must know how to cook steak thank you

  • I disagree with what he said in the video about turning the steak every 2 or 3 minutes. You should turn a steak only once, maybe twice, and then on its side to cook the fat. If I were cooking this steak, instead of drizzling olive oil on it at the end, I'd use a tbsp of salted butter, reduce it while cooking the fat side, remove the steak and let it rest and take a tbsp of the melted butter and drizzle it again on the top. Happy eating!

  • @marlouis1 , i agree but what i do as well is to cut some of the fat off the steak reduce it, then cook the steak in its own fat.

  • @sween187 Hey there Sween. I've done that too. Makes for excellent taste. I recently saw chef Robert Irvine take a pad of butter and let it melt on the steak,, then top it with the melted butter from the pan as it was resting, and I had to try it. Came out great. I like Robert Irvine for the fact that this guy is like the MacGyver of cooking. Give him a tree stump, a cinder block and a bottle of root beer, and he can make you a chocolate cake.

  • The fat side of the steak tastes the best!! :O

  • love the recipie i tried it and loved it thanks

  • Never use olive to cook a steak because the flash point is to low(veg, canola oil instead). Second, only pepper a steak at the end as the pepper will burn when cooked in hot oil.

  • @kirkland99 There's nothing wrong in using olive oil in here, because he's not cooking the beef in oil, it's just an antistick measure, and pepper at the end? Then you'll be eating bits of bitter pepper instead of the actual flavour in the steak.. are you retarded or something?

  • @kirkland99 are you serious?????? he's not using the olive oil to cook with it! and pepper at the end??? just fry hotdogs or bacon coz that's your level..

  • @chiooh2 what I find remarkable is the fact that you're able to talk with a mothafuckin dick yo' mouth!! punk ass bitch

  • @kirkland99 HAHAHAHAH sure mister know it all...oooppss... DON'T know ANYTHING at ALL!!! HAHAHAHA

  • @kirkland99 well beef fat has a MUCH lower flash point than olive oil. Does that mean I should wipe the pan every time the fat from the steak melts?

  • @kirkland99 Do relize he is a chief he has a tv show.

  • @kirkland99 Who are you... Chef Ramsey?

  • has anyone tried putting the good olive oil at the end? it seems kinda over a bit. like drenching it! I want to know if I should do it as well.. good or bad?

  • Add butter at the end instead of olive oil.

I am not one to argue w/ Jamie Oliver.

  • should of salt n peppered before oil buddy whatsit gunna stick to?

  • @paucceri actually I know what I'm talking about. if you don't give steak enough time to develop a crust then the juices won't be sealed in. there for, every time he turned and poked and prodded the thing like he did, he was basically forcing moisture out. and you have know idea how many times I've cooked steak. in fact, jamie Oliver's original video is what inspired me to start cooking. but from there I've perfected it!

  • yummmmmmmmmmm

  • The use of some olive oil wouldn't been ideal.

  • i HATE it when on steak vids they don't show cutting into it in the end

  • beef is not steak when there is no butter

  • this method is good if you like your steak sopping wet when you serve it. (drizzle with olive oil after its cooked? wtf?)

  • cant believe this is jamie oliver approved. 20 mins out of the fridge will be pretty much as cold as still in the fridge. also flipping more than once is noobish

  • I thought the same about flipping once, but I read some research, and it turns out that flipping often results in a more even center, with less overcooked area near the outside. Google "Kenji Alt burger flipping", and see the burger lab article. Same applies to steak.

  • @CosmicDamian this tho only regards to optics. the steak wont be as juicy and perfectly cooked as when you let the steak come to room temperature for at least an hour before cooking it and thne do the usual one flip cooking.

  • @kenzfenz Bull.

  • @CosmicDamian if u flip the steak befor the first side is completely sealed, juices will pour out. And since the first side should be completely sealed once u flip it, there is no need to flip it back again, since it would be already completely cooked and sealed.

  • @kenzfenz This idea that meat is "sealed" by searing is bunk. It's simply not true. Searing is only caramelization, coloring and flavor development... You should do the Google search I suggested. The science is out there, with experiments and results detailed, and it contradicts what you describe, on all accounts.

  • @CosmicDamian lol i dont need research for that. i used to cook steaks fliping multiple times, its just not as juicy and tender. besides, how long do you take to pan fry a steak? if u let the pan get as hot as possible and then start cooking, it pretty much takes 1 minute per side to be done on the surface whit a nice dark crust. how often do u want to flip the steak in that short timespan? (pbviously i put the steak into the oven afterwards at low temp until its med-rare)

  • @kenzfenz For a thin steak I agree with you completely, you're not going to get much of a crust before it's overcooked, if you flip it a lot.

  • Followed this to the letter and it was the first time I've ever cooked a steak without ruining it. Excellent Video.

  • Wow great demo video Jamie. I have never tried coating my steaks with oil before cooking. Thanks for the tip. I have a skirt steak that i'm defrosting right now. I look forward to trying out your cooking method. Have a great day.

  • Sweet Jesus

  • The only way to cook a steak is with a grill and an open flame ;)

  • @KonamiRelic nope ^^

  • Cooking steak in a pan? I only cook steak on a propane grill, because I'm a real American.

  • @TheGreyblood okay but what if you live in an apartment??

  • @muahh0haha91 Most apartments will allow a grill as long as it's propane and not charcoal (and obviously if you have a deck!)

  • You wasted a perfectly good steak by pan frying it! Grilled steaks is the only way to eat them.

  • @lordwisp

you can't make a sauce from the caramelised meat sediment on a grill mate.

But if taken on their own, I find I get a better crust in the pan, but the grill tastes better especially if it's a charcoal one.

  • If you want to prepare a steak correctly and not like an amateur, turn your steak as often as you like and prepare it like he does in the video. Trust me on this. I'm a Doctor.

  • Anyone Else notice that that is not Jamie oliver in the vid?

  • @theskillazzz

The description says its his mate Pete. Do you read those?

  • ew. no.

  • so... the perfect steak is 'seasoned' with salt, pepper and lemon? Dont you people know what spices are??

  • "How to cook a perfect steak" *Cooks it in a frying pan*

  • @DarthStumpy how is this not the Top comment? hahha

  • such a nice quality steak with fat ! where i live its hard to get it with the fat -_-*

  • Only turn a steak once.

  • @ElvisLivesUpstairs This is passe. Turns out better flipping multiple times.

  • that looks nice to me, but turning the steak 200 times just makes it harder to chew

  • Go to Gordon Ramsey's 'How to cook a steak'. Forget this bunk

  • @cbpointblank Turning the steak actually has a smaller meaning to the quality of the product than most chefs like to claim. However, this has no other positive effect on the steak than the good'ol "flip once" rule. A steak should also in most cases be seared in butter after the first fry of olive oil, but this is just a "way of taste" so to speak. I don't use this method, but I doubt it's all that bad.

  • lol food poisoning 4 the mases..good job :D

  • @GASSSED How so?

  • @GASSSED Food poisoning?

  • I'd drizzle that thing with Olive oil too if my steak looked that dry out of the pan.

  • @cbpointblank don't salt the meat don't presson the meat when they cook turn just 1 time etc..

  • @Jamieoliver. Great job man. I have a question. What would be the difference from cooking the steak on a grill, or a pan? OH, and what about putting the steak in a smoker? What would you recommend?

  • fucking stupid video. Turn every minute? Fuck off

  • Comment removed

  • @alquiora Well if you took a little bit of effort to read the description you'd see that it says "My mate Pete shows us how to cook the perfect steak." Obviously you're a fucking idiot.

  • @VIPsSaM well at least I don't act juvenile like you

  • a lot of modern chefs will flip often, most of the rules you people know about cooking meat are bunk, wives tales, etc...

  • @carswell98 agree, but I only flip the steak multiple times if it is thick. The most important part is to buy good quality and hopefully well matured? beef, and some parts are a bit more tricky to get right than others.

  • I don't think he used enough seasoning, olive oil, or heat.

  • @cbpointblank I've tried this method and it works. I'm from Texas and everyone has to grill their steak after marinating for 3 years. I like to go to the store, buy a steak and cook it that night and this method works and it is just as good or better than the grilled steak.

  • Thanks for the video -- learned a lot!

  • what a muppet.

  • Comment removed

  • would have been better if he cut it open

  • More olive oil right before the rest??? And all of the poking & prodding the steak??

Too much handling of the steak fr my taste!

  • turning it that many times?

jesus i turn mine twice and its medium rare BUT YOU TURN YOURS LIKE 7 TIMES. DO YOU WANT YOUR JAW BROKEN FROM TOUGHNESS?

  • just leave it be poke poke poke poke poke poke poke poke poke just dash some salt on it dash dash dash dash dash dash
  • IM EATING STEAK RIGHT NOW :)

  • Fucking MEDIUM for a sirloin? What?! Everyone who likes steak knows its rare. You cook fucking rare!

  • @TheCellarat you arent really the smartest are you...? There are manny ways to cook a steak.

  • This is all wrong! Who is this joker the only thing he got right was taking it out the fridge first!

  • Great Vid Jamie!

  • @tomeka1971 This dude isn't Jamie.

  • @marcusduck No? But Jamie uploaded the vid. Which is why tomeka1971 says "Great Vid Jamie!". ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @marcusduck Are you stupid or something? x) I know it is Pete in the video .. BUT Jamie UPLOADED the video. It is JAMIE'S video. In JAMIE'S video, PETE shows us how to cook.

And that is why tomeka1971 thanks JAMIE for the video he uploaded, where PETE shows us how to cook.

I can just as well upload a musicvideo by Linkin Park, and then people will be grateful and thank me for uploading it.

  • @Spixe Jamie didn't upload this video.

  • @marcusduck And why do you think he didn't? The account is JamieOliver - plus the description which says "My mate Pete..." hinting that Pete didn't upload the vid, but his friend JamieOliver. :)

  • Error 404 )=

  • is this pork?

  • how long do i let it cook so it can be well done? just seeing the red center gross me out i like my food fully cooked!

  • First thing - when someone says steak, I imagine the finest thickest beef tenderloin, not this... stuff

  • I turned this vidoe off as soon as I heard "turning every 1 minute"!

  • @jojoc197 you've watched too many youtube vids. easy to complain about stuff when you haven't even tried alternatives.

  • @jojoc197 when he said let it reach room temperature....

  • dear jamie,

    please fire pete

  • lemon?

  • @cbpointblank Turns out flipping a steak multiple times is fine, and he only pressed very lightly. You can test it out for yourself, flip multiple times and see that it comes out just as good or better.

  • @CosmicDamian word up it works fine

  • i think he's doing it perfectly.

  • leave it to the english to do it this way

  • not bad, but i wouldnt of had added the extra oil at the end

  • @KloptoriouS Lol are you mad kid? What's being American have to do with killing a perfectly good steak? Olive oil is not the problem either... although it is actually easier to use high smoking point oils like Cannola that way you can use a really hot pan for the sear.

Anyway the problem is his technique. First off he's cooking a big steak only pan sear and flipping it every minute? Why? For a home cook searing both sides quickly and finish in oven is almost always gonna be best.

  • not enough heat, no colour, no taste

  • Flippin heck!!! How much oil?

  • @1986welshlad it's not oil, it's olive oil.

  • @KloptoriouS What's olive oil if it's not oil?

  • @cbpointblank then how are you supposed to cook it?

  • alright, teach me how to dougie now

  • whatever,. i'm so not impressed.

  • I just tried this method, and my steak was excellent. I am pretty good at cooking chicken and fish, but had never really gotten into cooking steaks but this video helped me make a surprisingly good rare steak. With a side of diced avocado and tomatoes, my dinner tonight was great.

  • @hustlecoke thnx for that

  • This guy Pete doesn't have near the same energy as Jamie Oliver......very dry host. Looks like good technique though.

  • whoevere disliked this deserves to die, salam alaikum midas

  • cut it open then i wanna see how perfect you think you got it lol

  • Too much oil on the steak for my liking. My meat hits only a grill...never a pan...preferably over mesquite or hickory wood. Slight salt and pepper.

  • Gordon Ramsay says the exact opposite of Jamie. He says only turn ONCE and if I seriously cooked a steak for 8 minutes regardless of size I can put money it would probably be Very WELL DONE. Or dried out at that point. Goodness me.

  • @PokeyBessie

you know this is not jamie right

  • no way a steak that thick requires 8 mins cooking time, it would be burned to a crisp! I would have given that steak a maximum of 1.5 mins per side for medium rare or 2 mins per side for medium

  • Wow he really fucked it up at the end.

  • The amount of steak crimes committed here is ridiculous.

  • @cbpointblank ya. i tot so too. like how you're not supposed to poke the steak when it cooking cos they're destroying the texture

  • ***THAT ONE OIL ASS STEAK.

  • Lemon & EXTRA oil after it's cooked?!?!? WHOA! I didn't see that one coming. Ummmmmmmm ok. *scratching head* I've never cooked a steak and I came to YT to get a few pointers. You're the ONLY one that kept poking and prodding at the meat. Everyone else is AGAINST that. But hey, if it's works for you!! Enjoy! :-)

  • wow you guys have really opionated opinions :P derp it's ju8st food let it be.

  • Idiot. Obviously this guy doesn't work in a restaurant. You cook a steak on a FLAME, not in a fucking pan; then it's finished in the oven to the required doneness. Moron.

  • @ant3141 Yeah, because we've all got an open flame on which to cook steak in our kitchens.....

This a guide for the layman to cook steak at home.

  • puleeeze dont use a pan, use a cast iron grill, plus..whats with the pressing? let the damn thing be!! and LEMON???????? that fucked it up.

  • better on a charcoal grill, just saying

  • yammmm

    nice

  • WTF

  • stop prodding and turning it! no fucker does that! "Just leave it be..." ?? The cunt near enough raped it!!

  • @08hamster turning it constantly makes it cook more evenly. the only thing that bothered me is that the oil on the pan and not on the steak would have created a better sear
