  • LGBT pride, your days are numbered. Islam is unstoppable in France and other Euro countries.

  • Only one problem - it was the 40th Anniversary, not the 50th. Oh well, details..

  • God bless Queen Liza..

  • So we should just go back in time and exclude Judy from the whole thing?? You people are all so sad. Let us all mourn and let Judy speak through her songs.

  • Actually 2009 was the 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots

  • @DingoHunterDan Fucking idiot, I'm a 25 year old female so that blows your ignorant theory out of the water

  • @RockofZion You must have a tiny cock.

  • Bob Kohler used to talk to the homeless youth in Sheridan Square, and said, "When people talk about Judy Garland's death having anything much to do with the riot, that makes me crazy. The street kids faced death every day. They had nothing to lose. And they couldn't have cared less about Judy. We're talking about kids who were fourteen, fifteen, sixteen. Judy Garland was the middle-aged darling of the middle-class gays. I get upset about this because it trivializes the whole thing."

  • @derdriui So why do the dates match up? What was the thing that set everyone off that weekend? I'm sure Judy had SOMETHING to do with it. Lets not pretend that it was all an accident.

  • In the years since the riots occurred, the death of gay icon Judy Garland earlier in the week on June 22, 1969 has been attributed as a significant factor in the riots, but no participants in Saturday morning's demonstrations recall Garland's name being discussed. No print accounts of the riots by reliable sources cite Garland as a reason for the riot, although one sarcastic account by a heterosexual publication suggested it.

  • I dont get the story she tells about her mother and a club? someone explain please?!!

  • On June 28,1969 the drag queens who patronized Stonewall, a club in the heart of Greenwich Village (NYC) got tired of the brutality they endured at the hands of the police. On that fateful night the drag queens fought back. The riots at Stonewall are considered the defining moment that marks the start of the gay rights movement.

Judy Garland died a few days earlier on June 22, 1969.

  • there have been a lot of alterations on the story over the years, but from what i understand, it was during a memorial to judy garland that the club was raided...

  • ouch.

  • oh honey that was jus terrifffic

  • Yes 40 years ago!! Maybe she was confused because it was the anniversary of her mom's dead too!!

  • She forgot how many years ago her mother died?

    Gotta love her!

  • she's lit

  • 40, 50, whatever. Liza looks amazing anyway! :-)

  • 50 years ago? Wasn't Stonewall in 1969?
