ABSOLUTELY CRACKIN' - Brilliant flying and brilliant video!
I would love to know all the gear and equipment you used in making this?
I spend about 400hrs per year flying around in light aircraft and have lots of excellent opportunities to capture some stunning footage, but want to know whats the best gear to invest in before i do! Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated!
I like the VNE ILS-to-"go around" at Luton - very Top Gun.
Of course, if you chose Barcelona, Mahon, Palma, Ibiza, Valencia just after lunch, Spanish ATC probably wouldn't even notice, and you could have a lie-in!
Nice job guys! The volcanic ash helped you to make this wonderful flight! In Italy we have the worst civil aviation authority ever, so in those days, EVERY, I say again, EVERY traffic was grounded.. :@
I doth my cap to you gents, that is awesome! I know that was either a Sunday or Monday morning cause of the MD-11 parked on the Fedex ramp at STN (where I work). Cool vid, loved it!
Hi Yodi, we no longer fly from Elstree and have moved away from the area. If you would like to get in contact with me then please message 5Airports1Flight and he will forward my email address on to you. Regards, Stu.
Great video and song . I love London and its 5 main airports.I must say that LHR looks absolutely superb from the air. Thank you for sharing this video.
Thanks for that. The aircraft has been over Elstree many times, but Heathrow just the once - in fact fixed-wing light aircraft over Heathrow is extremely rare. The tower controllers didn't have much to say as there was little traffic to affect. We did two complete orbits of Heathrow before heading on. Traffic starts arriving at Heathrow from 0430 onwards - we got there just before the heavy metal arrived.
Thanks for your nice comments. I'm afraid I can't promise any aerials (unless Stu or J.J. care to oblige), but I can certainly knock you up something tasty if this is what you'd like. I'll fire you an email when I'm next at work. Cheers, Simon.
Hi John, it was me. One of the best trips in a light a/c so far! There is another video in the editing stage from another fun trip, keep an eye out. Stu
You crazy crazy guys. All done while talking to London FIR no doubt. CA4114 in the post?? Although done "In the know", this is possible for anybody - but for heavens sake don't tell them............whoops...
No, we didn't talk to the London FIR. Typically, you would contact London Information for transit in Class G airspace. For access to Class A and Class D such as this, you need to speak to the controlling authority of the airspace: Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton in this case.
I don't understand your CA4114 in the post comment. Care to explain?
Sorry.............it was a joke! (it was satirical comment on zone infringements, which I should have made a little clearer since the written word didn't convey the light hearted air of the post). Excellent video, it looked great fun, and Mr R can really put together some wicked footage. Can't wait for the sequel!
Hi, unfortunately the opportunity to do this only happens a few days either side of the longest day. Outside that it is too dark to get over Heathrow before the first inbounds arrive. We didn't tell Stojan first - he would only have wanted to come along and as you can see there wasn't much space left inside! Stu.
These guys must be Air Traffic Controllers themselves, or certainly know people who are to get permission to do that - especially with the orbits !!. Although a SVFR transit could be possible overhead LHR at "O'my god it's early" hour !!. C'mon guys, share your secret - wouldn't mind donig it myself ;) !!
Actually, LF was part of the original plan, but we were warned off in advance for fear of upsetting the NIMBYs who don't seem to care for aeroplanes at Farnborough at 5pm, let alone 5am!
Of course it's brill he's got my genes or at least some of them

I love this, I did it on Flight Simulator.
I think I have seen your aircraft over Heathrow and Elstree a few times and I wonder what the air traffic controllers at each airport had to say.
Great Video 5 stars.

Thanks for your kind words about the vid. A sequel? I might post some more flying stuff, but you can be sure it won't feature the London airports.
