  • it should be an age of plan9, not unix anymore, linux is just a bloated kernel and it isn't suitable for handheld device. It works because it JUST works.

  • Imagine this technology in schools?

  • i me god future its here!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Linux is great but what about support? Android may have deep pockets but when people trust their information to a cloud they have to be able to get support. Android BRAND tablets may be supported but Android running on other machines is not. I'm not going to a forum to fix my computer - just won't. A cloud-with-OS has to be supported. I think this is why Apple is winning and Blackberry still hasn't died.

  • Android for life screw you.

  • are u sure he told him SCREW YOU, coz it's like a dad tell'n his own child to fuck off

  • what linux distro is it running?, would really like to see if i can install it on a nook color

  • she so cure want eat her out

  • Android is BS, evil google's another attempt like they stole your emails and passwords from wifi. Phones and tablets are getting powerful cpus and linux will work very well on those. I believe this shitty ubuntu owner is bribed by google not to focus on tablets since google hired canonical for some work on android. anyways i dumped ubuntu for mint.

  • sub to me and ill sub back

  • kill you are self

  • Aren't tablets just overgrown smartphones minus the phone part?

  • sooooo gay and slow

  • Looks like pure crap, doesn't it? Yes, it does. How about sticking with a tried and true platform that has thousands of apps specifically designed for it and its intended form factor. Also, what up with that shirt girl?!!!

  • Suck

  • Rubbish!!

  • Will someone PLEASE demonstrate the art capabilities of a tablet like this. I don't care about it's web page scrolling capabilities, but the high resolution and sharp image contrast is a must. I create digital art in programs like gimp and photoshop and I'm looking for an ART tablet for Linux that can handle pen motion detection or at least come with some kind of tool to give me more control over what is being done with the tablet. Wacom is popular on Windows but, not helpful for a Linux user.

  • she's hooooooooooooot

  • android is linux...lol

  • @TheAndroidNerd

Android is NOT open though. LOL

  • Wow that was a laggy device. Hopefully an early prototype.

  • i mean slow

  • what's reall cool it's very skiw gagaga

  • i really likes and appreciate this add

linux is more secure os than xp 'n' 7

  • I hope you can put backtrack on it :D

  • man, she's hot !

  • she is damm sexy...!!

  • Check Out The New 2012 Destruction App!!!!!

  • that's no job for a vampire killer lady !

  • Andriod Kernel type is Linux kernel

  • she is hot \m/

  • I would seriously consider it if netflix supported linux systems.

  • too many ads and a shitty demo

  • how much does it cost lol

  • Android is Linux like Mac OSX is UNIX. It's a commercial operating system with all the accompanying efforts to handcuff the user. A truly open tablet is nice to have on the market. And the number of Linux applications out there? Well, the repositories I currently use on my Gentoo and Debian systems have over 20,000 packages. And then you have all the stuff you can download and install yourself, and good luck counting that.

  • @cukka99 Linux is not true Unix. It is a clone, and to be closer to OSX it has be a BSD Distro.

  • @thegroove2000 Very true, but what is the relevance of this to my remark? My point was that Android is not an open-source system and those free/open software fans among us would therefore very much welcome a Linux tablet. In fact, I am currently shopping for one. And yes, I would be happy enough with an OpenBSD or some such tablet too.

  • So, why should I get this over an Android tablet? Android already has thousands(or do they have 1 million by now?) of apps and games. This thing has...what?

  • this chick is hot. wait, i thought i was on IMGUR. sorry

  • looks to small to be a computer and too big to be a phone. no thanks.

  • Linux never works as good for normal people as "Geeks" claim it does. Whats up with wanting to tweak everything. *Rolls Eyes*

  • Yes, it is linux core. But I feel it's a sad attempt to turn it into a linux mobile version of windows. You can't even mod the thing unless you root it, which android doesn't want you to do to begin with. No compiling software, so I can't tweak my apps while working on the android, which would be quite easy to work with btw with a usb keyboard. KDE and GNOME have always been a favorite of linux users yet you can't even use it on this thing. Even LXDE could run on this having a lighter footprint.

  • @thecuriouschristion To be honest, that's cuz most people don't want that. Andriod is for people who want a good smartphone. That's it. Not for tweaking. Why perfect anything? What a waste of time...

  • Please wiki for android core, because android use linux core =) yes? =)

  • Get it right people. Google might be linux, but you have to say its a dumbed down version of it. It doesn't feel like linux to me unless you can choose from kde/gnome/openbox, compile your own programs, use apt/yum, and ect. I was extremely disappointed when I got my android tablet and realised I couldn't customize it the way I wanted to.

  • @thecuriouschristion actually you can root it and customize it the way you want.

and why would you want gnome or kde on one of these tablets? they are not made for it, but for desktops (or semi desktop tablet with mouse support), even unity is for desktops/netbooks.

and most "traditional" linux apps dont work well on tablets either, only the new generation of android/meego/webOS apps.

  • @madjunir Have you seen videos of ubuntu on android devices? They actually work quite well. Even ancient computer with worse specs than the android has more customizations than this. The point is freedom of choice. Android was supposed to be completely open for customization, but you have to hack it to even manage that. Even more of a nightmare is trying to get Android to be semi buggy free. A decent linux distro shouldn't have this problem, which android does.

  • pause 2:12 and you may be able to read the guy's mind

  • What is it with these so called tech GURUS who don't understand that Android IS A LINUX BASED DISTRO. The Galapagos Does not run a VERSION of linux. Its USER ENVIRONMENT is built on top of the LINUX KERNEL just as Android is as well as Ubuntu and Debian and Redhat and yellow dog, pc linux, damn small linux, SUSE, on and on and on! Lets get it straight people. You are confusing the consumers!

  • everytime i hear or see a Veronica i am thinking Fallout New Vegas ...sorry for trolling but i had to!

  • Japan is a radiated mess so is the ocean and the world. this cheap made in china crap seems a little pointless and not important..

  • Looks slow...

  • Google = Evil. Adopt now and beat the rush.

  • Android is Linux Dumbass

  • Android may have a Linux kernel, but if you've ever programmed on Linux and then tried to program on Android you see that they are a world apart. I was very excited about Android until I saw what they had done to Linux.

  • @eialbur just because the programming API's are different doesn't make Android any less a Linux distro than any other Linux distro out there. One thing you have to keep in mind, that the only thing that Linux is, is a kernel. Nothing more and nothing less. GNU/Linux distros (Debian, Fedora, etc) all use the GNU tools along with UI's, etc to make up a useable operating system. One of the biggest misconceptions out there is that Linux is an operating system.

  • I think they mean it's based on some GNU/Linux distro, like how nokia's MeeGo is based on Debian, while I believe android is only from the kernel.

  • "android is linux"

Android is a system that uses Linux.

    Linux is a kernel.

  • @JezdziecBezNicka Linux is not kernel, Linux just use kernel :}

  • @JezdziecBezNicka unix is the kernel, linux is the branch, the distros of the branch are distros. :o

  • @WotTehPhok Linux Is Not UniX!

  • That is android.... notice the loading popup?

  • I'm getting it just cause it's Linux... Open source <3

    Also Android *is* Linux.

  • What is the benefit of linux over windows? Your dick will never smell like pussy.

  • android is built on linux

  • jeez it lags ...

  • Cant say screw you android because android is Linux.

  • It runs on a modified Linux kernel, so it's like having a ricer car with a fuck load of unessential mods. Go figure...

  • It's somehow adorable when chicks talk about tech.

  • "it runs Linux" -.- wtf there's so many different Linux versions and Android is one of them.. Is this MeeGo or something?

  • and developers say SCREW BOTH.

  • Android = Linux.

Also, if they're going to claim that these devices are running Linux, I say give us something like Ubuntu (desktop, taskbar(s), fully customizable UI). Not a trimmed down version of Linux some dev-team came up with. That's what Android is for.

  • oh my god, beautiful intelligent woman with super beautiful ULTRA SHINY hair!!!! *.* woooheeeeee :D

  • Great presentation....upbeat and unbias....Oh yea....She is absolutely gorgeous....

  • what a smile!!!

  • nice but that's like watching a magic trick that you already know imo...

  • ammm looks lagy

    ]

  • wasted some MB for advertisement~ pay us!

  • yh yh yh android is linux but dosnt support all the apps most linux desktop distros have and the fact androis is licenced by google , a proper linix tabet would be more open than android ,

  • veronica! i want to be ur co-host..is that ok?

yes, this is a great, we need more companies to come out with their own versions of tablets -.-

  • that girl is cute xD

  • wow this would b really cool and i think more operating systems should emerge for tablets like maybe chrome os,although that would require a constant data connection, but most tablets offer 3g plans

  • Comment removed

  • isn't Android Linux?

  • @lenoat702 Android is a version of Linux that is only as "Open" as Google wants it to be

  • When will it be available in the UK

  • @Riyoshi91 True. I'm very interested in how Linux would stand up to iOS and Android.

  • Interesting.... However, as a VAR and a consumer I don't buy Sharp. They refused to honor a warranty on a product I purchased. Had poor customer service. So I've vowed to not purchase or promote their products.

  • Looks very, very laggy, though their AirPlay equivalent of "flicking" (eek, change the name!) looks seemless. Their promise of expanding the amount of compatiple devices for it is awesome.

  • @uncachable Remember this is a prototype, might be less leaggy in the future.

  • Fail Cali Lewes already reviewed this.

  • hmm airplay -.-

  • I looked this company up on Twitter and it was all in Chinese? I have made it my goal to buy American made products instead of foreign do to me trying to increase employment in America. But, it is a nice tablet

  • Why is it always fruit and not robots are mentioned when developers says "other manufacturers like..." ??

  • how old is she????? she looks good

  • @aassaa99 I bet she is 26-28

  • @Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh no i think she's older like 31

  • O.O Sweet

  • HA! take that ipad! and android! linux rulez!

  • @nopcnolife1 Android is Linux. DUN DUN DUN. No, seriously.

  • @UntrustedSource It's more like Googles evil bastard cousin of GNU/Linux.

  • @UntrustedSource

i know, but it was nice if it was a full linux tablet running ubuntu or you know...kubuntu, arch, bla bla bla!

  • @UntrustedSource

Well, it probably is a unnamed or unheard of kernel, but, yeah, for the most part, FWHALE.

  • @UntrustedSource not realy android is based on the linux coding but it issnt te same as linux, DUN DUN DUN no seriously;)

  • @UntrustedSource Android is not completely Linux. They have brought a lot of changes to it. They have trimmed Linux and have made Android

  • @UntrustedSource lol I saw the title, and was gonna comment, exactly that lol

  • @UntrustedSource barely

  • @UntrustedSource I want a GNU/Linux platform not Android/Linux!

  • Not any more. Android did use the linux kernel for the first few releases, but they have diverged from the mainline kernel development. Android never used the linux user-land. There are other better ways of getting Linux on a hand held device, including Maemo, Angstrom, WebOS, ... Android will win because it has deep pockets, not because it is good.

  • @beyondChairs Ummm, you might want to do some more research. Android is and always has been running on a modified Linux kernel. I do agree that other mobile OS' are better, mainly webOS in my opinion, but to claim that Android isn't Linux based is not an accurate statement.

  • @beyondChairs So true. Android was just a GUI hub for Java and HTML5 apps. There's no ecosystem, and it's not what linux is about. Android basically sucks, but people are suckered into it because a lot of spit is yelled out to the consumer to sucker them into believing it's better.

  • @UntrustedSource ya its linux but linux isnt android (same difference as cocoa and cocoa touch)

  • Starts: 0:12

    Ends: 2:12

  • @allluckyseven No, it starts in 00:00 and ends in 3:12...

  • @allluckyseven i don't know why i clicked madly on those time links but i had a big LOL

  • linux tablet just what i wanted

  • Whats up with the poor resolution?

  • @brent803 The video was just uploaded. Refresh the page, and you'll get HD.

  • FIRST! I had to do it.
