This is what happens when someone that really hasn't had much experience with animals in general. This cat was probably beaten and throne outside or left to die. One or both of you is hitting it on what you believve is its butt thats also obvious. Well stupid its the back and you have probably caused some kind of damage now that cant be reversed. Jackosn can try to sugar coat this situation but for once I wish he would call animal control on some of the people he visits. Never have kids.

I adopted a semi-feral adult male Balinese that I was able to tame. I let him know that I am the Alpha male. I trained him to the point that I could trim his claws with him sitting next to me. I could hold his paws and tail, no problem. I have stopped my cat, Zeus, to no longer mark in the house. Time-out in a small kennel or travel crate works. NO HITTING! Rub the cats' nose in the urine, then in time-out. Tell the cat way, it works.

Your second mistake was probably manhandling her to much as a kitten thus leaving her repulsed by your hands because it was never her choice to be on your lap or in your arms. Your third mistake is hitting her. A flick on the nose when their young, or a spray bottle works fine without giving it incentive to attack back. Put the poor animal down. I had a dog who suddenly turned meaner than hell. She was a black lab/rottweiler cross. Yeah, a big dog. I showed that dog nothing but love and affection until the day she tried to bite me. She got so vicious we thought she had rabies. We actually had to call the wildlife guys to shoot her with a tranquilizer so we could take her to the vet.

It turns out that she had an enormous brain tumor which was causing her extreme pain. We had to put her down.

There'd be no problem with the cat if they'd just listen to the cat. I've never met a feral cat I couldn't tame in days. I once had a feral cat find me, and it looked like it was starving to death. I nursed it back to good health, it said goodbye one day, and that was that. Maybe the solution is for these nice people to give the cat up to someone who CAN handle the cat.
