I know alot of you guys are mad about Toonami but can i leave my personal opinion. I am 12 and got Toonami in the later years and i am pissed that they cancelled most of there shows and replaced it with this Level Up bullshit. Being as it is i think Nicktoons is a suitable replacement, It doesnt even come close to Toonami but still, Least i can get some half decent action shows like Dragon Ball Z Kai, Iron Man, Voltron Force, I dont even turn to CN anymore

They were the first to dub the show outside of Japan, nearly a decade before America. They started with the original Dragon Ball all the way to GT, and to this day DBZ still airs in certain Latin countries such as Mexico.
Not to mention they have the most popular DBZ video on the internet.

Broly is the single strongest character in the Dragon Ball universe, and it's only because of his wound that Goku and company were able to win both times. @TJhoseph504 he got so many thumbs up because maybe he grew up with Z like myself and finds that the removal of filler and somewhat new dialogue doesn't automatically make kai superior to Z, in any way whatsoever, and that some filler is necessary in order to establish motifs, values, and character development if an aethestically successful anime is to be presented.
@MrAweeze nice use of big words, but you're missing the point. The new dialogue in Kai is the exact dialogue from the japanese version and DBZ manga. The DBZ from our childhood made up it's own script (complete with cheesy jokes). Therefore, Kai wins in terms of sticking to the source. Alot of the filler didn't really develop characters anyway. Alot of times characters would look like badasses in filler episodes, only to get their asses kicked in a canon fight. Kai is the true DBZ honestly.

@TJhoseph504 of course its easy to say that filler isn't necessary to establish anything and its only goal was to stall for the anime blah blah blah. however it IS necessary to create a linear story, one that can relate and connect to the viewer. some filler gives the viewer the sense that the other non-involved characters care for humanity just as much as goku (such as when piccolo is fighting 17, tien goes to his rescue, and before all of that is "filler" on kame house)

@MrAweeze nice use of big words, but you're missing the point. The new dialogue in Kai is the exact dialogue from the japanese version and DBZ manga. The DBZ from our childhood made up it's own script (complete with cheesy jokes). Therefore, Kai wins in terms of sticking to the source. Alot of the filler didn't really develop characters anyway. Alot of times characters would look like badasses in filler episodes, only to get their asses kicked in a canon fight. Kai is the true DBZ honestly.

DBZ is amazing and has such an ethical value that is not duplicated in any media today. there is nothing wrong with it, and kai is just a new version and that's it. no better, no worse (besides the change in voice acting that was for the worse)

@MrAweeze one more thing. filler is NOT necessary to establish anything. That's why it's filler. The manga doesnt have filler at all and thats straight from akira toriyama himself. True, some filler is good, but in the end it's not needed AT ALL. It's just there to take up time and so the anime doesn't catch up with the manga. and thats a fact, not opinion.

@TJhoseph504 of course its easy to say that filler isn't necessary to establish anything and its only goal was to stall for the anime blah blah blah. however it IS necessary to create a linear story, one that can relate and connect to the viewer. some filler gives the viewer the sense that the other non-involved characters care for humanity just as much as goku (such as when piccolo is fighting 17, tien goes to his rescue, and before all of that is "filler" on kame house)

Some were busy, some didnt want to come back. They barely got gokus voice actor to come back but then they showed him the script and he decided to voice goku again. Yes, Sean Schemmel is a big dbz fan and he was surprised to find a script that followed the manga. like i said, in japan kai was about money, not in america though.

@TJhoseph504 perhaps you're not aware of the foundations and rules of capitalism...the original DBZ was broadcasted here, because of success in japan in america, for MONEY. everything is about making money in america, and japan isn't much different. i just had no NEED for kai. i'm 21 and started watching dragonball when i was about 7. i guess the saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" applies for me. i need no remake of DBZ, and my knowledge of the series has not suffered.
