I just said the title to this song to you via text, my Aphrodite, and I immediately came here to listen to this love classic. I want to feel your love again and move under it and dance to the rhythm of the music that our souls make as we crash into each other at the end of the long hard road that leads straight to your love.
R.I.P. my man and thank you for all the wonderful memories your songs brought into my life... it was all good... you have showered us all with your love for romantic songs... much love !!!
It brings back memories that are joyful but at the same, it saddens me that those days have passed. Oh how i miss the days when slow songs are from the heart and not mainly about sex. How times changed...
Man, I love good music!!!! Dam, I was in the 6th grade when this jam came out!!! I was out in summer enrichment classes at the University of Hawaii getting paid, baby! And this was the jam!!!!!! :D
I love this song...it brings back so many memories...of what I felt was love back then, I still wouldn't change those memories or feelings for anything, it was needed... Smiles for the memories
i was like 9 when I first heard this on KMJJ..and this song is what I base my relationships on..if i cant honestly say I feel like he does in this song about u then i know im not in love with you
I want to know who out there has a similar mix tape with all the following songs on it: "This time I know it's real" by Donna Summer, "No more rhyme" by Debbie Gibson, "On our own" by Bobby Brown, "Coldhearted" by Paula Abdul, "Turned Away" by Chucki Booker, "Secret Rendezvous" by Karyn White, "Don't wanna lose you" by Gloria Estefan, "Shower me with your love" by Surface, "I like it" by Dino. Notice the variety you could record from the radio back then: R&B, pop, adult contemp all together
@salinster David Townsend (guitar/keyboards) is the one who died. Before "SURFACE", he played for The Isley Brothers for 5 years as a member of their back-up band SUNRIZE, who recorded the song Who's Stickin?
David is the son of the late ledgendary songwriter/producer Ed Townsend who wrote Let's Get It On. David is also the uncle of Skye of the group Sophia Fresh.
I remember being as young as like 6 and my grandmother and mother would always play this wen we were going home and I used sing this all the time now im 18 and aint nothing changed I LOVE THIS SONG
i love my wife and the blessing's that weve been given through all these year's and many more too come. we love our children very much thank you jesus.
i perposed to my girl to this song yeaster day and of course she said yes i love her so much and this song is perfect for us be cause i will for ever love her and be deadicated to her every need i love her with all my heart and soul she lifts my spirits up so high and she amazes me every day and i give my life to her and cant wait to say I DO to her she is evry thing a man could want in a woman I LOVE YOU ASHLEY YOU ARE MY EVERY THING
Wow, even in 2011 this song is so relevant... Some love songs are simply timeless.... and most definitely priceless.... music meant so much in this time! Cherished and never forgotten.... thank you POSTER for sharing!
My old boss was Bernard Jackson's old boss. He always said that Bernard talked about working on music and being a star one day. So cool he made such a memorable and successful song.
i love this song sooo much even though i wasn't born that year yet. not long later i was born in the 90's. this is sooo good. i wonder what happened to amazing songs like these. these days lots of songs don't even match to those great and amazing old songs. now lots of artist sing only about drugs, sex, and how people look. no more of that real true feel of music where it makes u enjoy it a lot and wanna over and over.
Everyone should listen to this song. Imagine life filled with good Love music. The 1980's were the best times of my life. Living life all through the mid 1990's going to college.
yeah back n da day u had the good r&b they had the music to where u and you mate could argue they had the song to have your mind changes and reconnect or for when u want to propose they had it all. With soul and meaning.
I remembered I had a Tribute to the 80s party three years ago with my friends & my boyfriend. This song started playing & we started slow dancing. I had my first kiss on this song!
This song is a relic of the time when black male musicians could still actually sing. Nowadays, the industry will just groom some 20-something kid off the streets to rap about drugs, streets and bitches.
@Templier90 -i totally agree with you.music today is just like a fast food joint, order your meal and it's done in 3 minutes. there is no more hard work. 80% of the artist today are just young, untalented, watered down, cookie cutter clowns.they can't play real instruments anymore, perform as groups, or sing without having auto tune cover their horrible singing.not all but 75% are shitty.it's all about big asses, pretty faces, and no freaking talent. i see the shit all the time. all image now.SAD
This is realness....im 21 years old b...and I love this...I thank GOD for this type of music. Could sit in the whip and bump this and just not even think of lustful things. Just pure love joint is deep
@bow2urepnoy2 Booty booty booty booty booty everywhere....Doh! hahaha. I hope my daughters will come to me for a good song to dance to, by the time they are married it will be crap.
i dont care what noone says the late 80,s and 90,s had the best music period they had real real r&b not that bullshit you hear out today and i was born in 88
@ROCKSTAR3788 Thank You! I agree 100%. I was born in 1980 and the late 80's and 90's had real music. I don't know what happened but r&b sucks today. No one really sings anymore.
@ROCKSTAR3788 I think it was a good period but the 70's was the best if you like all types of music. You are right because it was the last of the good singing.
The 80's baby... I don't care how ridiculous some say we looked, WE had STYLE!!! Just like the Seventies when you look at videos like these you automatically know what decade it was.
I was 4 years old when this song was release. Brings back memories of when my sister was a teenager. She would lock the door and blast this song. LOL!
My wife of twenty years left me out of her selfishness and this is the song we heard when we first met in 1986; and it almost drive me to the verge of sucide; I will always love her and think of her 'TIL DEATH...Take good care of yourself, my love!
@totalvicky wow youve missed out on good music for a long time in your life and im only 25! but growin up with a dad and mom from L.A. its kinda hard not to know this kind of music lol
I use to play this over and over again with Tevin Campbells Tell me what you want me to do and Surface's The First time on my cassette deck This song was bumping back in the day and still is
Back in the eighties, I never danced. One thousand years later, I choose this awesome song to dance for the first time with my daughter on quinceanera, instead of the traditional waltz. Nataly, you will always be my true princess and I will be here waiting to dance with you when ever you are ready to do so. You are too young to understand many things now. I pray you will understand why I stood away from you on such beautiful occasion. Love, dad.
Now THIS is real music, & THIS is what a music video is supposed to be. When this album "2nd wave" came out. I was 17 & went on a fishing trip to Mi. I played this tape on my walkman for the entire 4 hr drive to the lake & I must have played this song 30 times that day. I still love this entire album to this day.
I Thank God for this real music when I was growing up. I play this kind of music for my kids now so that they can see what it's supposed to be like. R.I.P David Townsend of Surface.
i love music videos from this era. the women are beautiful without showing a lot of skin...nothing like the music videos of today where nudity = beauty
OMG I love this song. My grandmother and my mother used to play this all the time when I was little......This song go hard on everything LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT
I remember when this first came out a radio announcer said "one of those songs that's going to be around a long, long time.....a typical love song"....if anyone can tell me how this did on the charts, that would be great.....
I love so much ***** , 10 years ago I met you for the first time and Instantly I felt in love with you. Since then you have always been in my heart, there hasn't been a day that I haven't thought of you. Now you have come here for a visit, last night we talked allot, it was a dream come true for me.
I really love and I can't live without you. My only dream is that one day you'll be mine and I hold you in my arms. I've been waiting 10 years now and I'll wait forever for you because I love you so much. I close my eyes and I hope my dream comes true. I hope one day I can show this writing.

I believe I was about 8, when I first heard this song. My cousin used to play this, all of the time. I don't think I have heard this, since then.

I remember when this first came out a radio announcer said "one of those songs that's going to be around a long, long time.....a typical love song"....if anyone can tell me how this did on the charts, that would be great.....

I really love and I can't live without you. My only dream is that one day you'll be mine and I hold you in my arms. I've been waiting 10 years now and I'll wait forever for you because I love you so much. I close my eyes and I hope my dream comes true. I hope one day I can show this writing.
