  • i wanna get a 64 65 or 66 mustang and put one in r these eazy to install

  • DAT WAS NICE IN SMOOTH LOL

  • so the purpose of a shifter like this is so you can drive it like a manual? Shifting the gears yourself?

But you also have the option of putting it in drive and just have it like normal?

Thanks, im trying to understand this :/

  • @snowmangaggift Yes, you can manually shift from gear to gear or just put it in 3rd (Drive) and it will shift by itself. Every automatic transmission can do this. That's why you see something like D, L1, L2 on the shifter.

  • are there any shifters that apply for an automatic 4 speed?

  • can u come back from 3rd to 1st ?

  • @SeanMS69 im thinking about getting one of these in my 71nova

  • @SeanMS69 Yeah, you just pull the trigger and pull the shifter to the rear into 2nd or 1st.

  • @zachschevelle alright buddy thanks alot i think im going to make my choice

  • @zachschevelle so from 1st to 2nd you dont need to pull the lever but from 2nd to 3rd you do then from 3rd to neutral you dont need to pull the lever but reverse to park you do ? is that correct ?

  • @1986montecarloss496 Correct, but from neutral to reverse you have to press the reverse lockout switch at the base of the shifter. After driving it for a few minutes it becomes second nature.

  • @zachschevelle ok because i have a cheetah shifter but im thinking about going to this one . do you recommend it ?

  • @1986montecarloss496 I highly recommend it. I don't drag race much, but this is probably the most popular auto shifter at the track. I helped my brother install the pistol grip version of the Q-stick in his C3 Vette and he really likes it too.

  • @zachschevelle so can you switch gears without pulling the lever ?

  • @1986montecarloss496 If you put it in 3rd (Drive) you don't have to do anything and the transmission will shift by itself. If you want to control what gear it's in then yes, you do have to pull the trigger on certain gears. This keeps the car from over shifting.

  • Sounds nice and tight between gears. good work.

  • so 2nd to 3rd you HAVE to pull the lever?

  • what quaterstick do good fore(:? (sorry my bad english)

  • @Dickhudt44 I'm not totally sure what you're asking. It's good, because it's more accurate than a stock shifter. It doesn't over shift and it makes it easier to select the gear you want to be in.

  • so when i get my chevelle i want to put this on the th400 i wanna get...wheres drive

  • @Whiplash8807 Yeah man, I love it. 3rd gear is drive... same thing.

  • @zachschevelle ah ok thanx man...what year chevelle u got

  • @Whiplash8807 '70.

  • @zachschevelle thats the year i want to get...did you have to do any modification to the console to get the shifter to fit?

  • i just got my Promatic2 from Hurst for my truck. cant wait to install it. a little different from yours. i went with this one bec i use my truck as a daily driver and its a little easier to use.

  • @qbenplaya00 Cool. Make a video when it's done. The Quarterstick isn't really hard to use once you know the pattern.

  • so what's the difference between a hurst shifter and a rachet shifter?

  • @ARTHURREED1 The Hurst Quarterstick is a gated shifter where you don't have to ratchet through every gear to get where you want. You can put it into 3rd (Drive) from any gear.

  • @zachschevelle oh okay..this is also meant for automatic transmittions too right?..sorry if I'm asking to many questions, I'm just looking for the right shifter for my nova haha.

  • @ARTHURREED1 Yes, this is for an auto trans. I have this one in my Chevelle and my brother has the pistol grip version in his Corvette. I think they're the best automatic shifters made.

  • do they make boots that will fit this shifter?

  • @lemons350 Yeah, they come with their own cover, but I fit mine into the factory console. I still need to fab up a cover for it though.

  • Can you just put it in drive or does the shifter eliminate that option?

  • @BombFactory39 Yeah, you can just put it in drive. That's not any fun though lol.

  • hey my 94 camaro has 4 speed auto tranny..do they make these shifters with 4 gears ?

  • @kickfreak23 Yeah man, I've seen them before. What trans do you have?

  • @kickfreak23 i got the stock tranny that camaros came wit in 94...

but i might step it up to a 700r4 speed

  • @kickfreak23 Yeah, I saw that they can work with the 700r4.

  • im thinking of getting the hurst pistol grip auto shifter in my 98 camaro what do you think???

  • @glpc5099 I'm not sure what shifter the '98 came with from the factory, but the Quarter Stick will definitely be an upgrade.

  • i like it, never seen something like that before.

  • @fabiolas4 Thanks. The Quarter Stick is the most common auto shifter in drag racing!

  • @zachschevelle really?? i figure it wouldve been the ratchet, hammerhead, dualgate, or lightning rods? i like that though its a nice clean look. looks like its supposed to be there too the way you mounted it on the console. nice job!

  • @fabiolas4 Yeah if you go to the dragstrip you'll see this in most auto cars. I think people like it because, it's not ratchet action.

  • @zachschevelle ill have to remember that next time i go. car sounds excellent btw! good luck with her she's a beaut!

  • Nice! I have the same shifter in my Corvette!
