It's what's called a "brand ad" -- it doesn't address specific features, benefits or offers, but helps establish or reinforce the essence of the brand itself. In this case, it leverages the appeal and humor of Ellen to draw a (loose) association to the versatility of The Card as well as how it "helps you achieve your dreams."

Or at least that the kind of sanctimonious bullshit I often use in pitch meetings to explain concepts.

I had to weigh in. This is an awsome and well put together project! Ellen, who I've grown to love over the years has yet done it again along with her Agent, (Cast&Crew). I can see allot of buzz here. Will there be a movie based on this very successful commercial? Ellen would be perfect! And, as we all know, working with animals (on or, off set) can be some task.
