Alkaline diets favor lean tissue mass in older adults.
Metabolic acidosis promotes muscle wasting, and the net acid load from diets that are rich in net acid-producing protein and cereal grains relative to their content of net alkali-producing fruit and vegetables may therefore contribute to a reduction in lean tissue mass in older adults.
Foods rich in potassium, such as fruit and vegetables, favor the preservation of muscle mass in older men and women.
Good info. Remember veggies don't typically have as much carbs as fruit but they have fiber often and can keep you full so throw some in with chicken breast, eggs, oats and what have you. Try to always buy organic with the following....Apples, strawberries, celery and peaches. These are the most heavily contaminated products with herbicides, rodenticides and pesticides. I do one egg yolk, six whites and some oats for breakfast.
i have a question, i was thinkin to take protein powder since i ve been working out for 2 moths already. but, wht i fear is the side effects of it ones i stop taking protein shake? wht are the side effects after stop takin protein powder? do the muscles drop? thx
at worst youll probably lose some muscle mass... not a big deal if u maintain a good workout routine and a healthy diet... as long as you get some protein from regular food.
first of all you are wrong kids dont take protein supplements why???!!! its because your still growing into your formal body if you take protein supplements now and workout chances are you will stunt your growth and not grow taller, so kids dont listen to him take protein after you stop growing not during your growth...
hey...i try to avoid carbs and sugar entirely. i eat fruit, lots and lots and lots of turkey and string cheese. and i drink only water and high pulp orange juice. evryonce and a while i have a cookie or something. and im almost 16 years old, 5'3" and 135 pounds. do you think my diet seems okay?
yeah honestly, carbs are just as important if not more important to you health than protein is. the more protein you ingest is probably from dairy or meat products. this is overloading your system with saturated fats. in terms of building muscle carbs are more important than proteins that you eat. this is why the atkins diet is so bad for you.
Hey man you should read Good Calories Bad Calories. I think it will rectify some of your red meat myths. CHECK IT OUT!! protein is only bad when you have not enough fat or you have lots of carbs also with your meat. This Calcium and Nitrogen and Cholestrol myths need to be looked at REALLY CLOSLEY. THIS IS ALL MIS INFORMATION. good luck.
also for working out, you need saturated and unsaturated fats. for working out you also need lots of iron out of red meats and clams to. Also for working out you need the cholesterol for a factor of energy.
hey, im 13 years old,5'2 and im 92 lbs. my metabolism is over the roof and i eat lots. breakfast,i usually have 2 bowls of cereal,i scramble 3 extra large eggs, a fruit and a cup and a half of milk. My aunt is a dietitian and she is best friends with a body builder (professional) and im going to start working out soon cuz my friends think that i should get more meat on my bones. I know a little bit about body building, and i know that when your working out, you do need alot of fats and carbs.
Id like to start taking protein.... im tall and thin. 128lbs 5'11" but dont know how to start!! Is it good to take protein??? any advice? good protein brand?
hey, im 16, i was 105lbs going into my freshman year. I wanted to do a sport because i had never really worked out. I joined wrestling halfway through the year because its the hardest sport, definitaly. I am now 145lbs of pretty much pure muscle. Im about 6' and I get down to 7% during wrestling season. SO eat good, if you lift weights BALANCE with conditioning. 8-10 miles running a week! EASY IF YOU HAVE COMITMENT
Eggs, non processed lean meats, natural cheeses, and nuts are your best forms of protein. 1oz of these food equals about 7grams of protein. most men your height should eat about 100 grams a day, 50 grams at breakfast(most important meal of the day)and the rest spread out. btw you most workout at least 3 times a week, 20 minutes minimum for slow but healthy results.
thanks again frank for another great video.. i have one question if u are eating all your fruits and vegetables, fibre, protein as meals or as snacks do u then need to take multi-vitamin pills ???
i want to start using Whey Protein Supplement. I know there are two types. Concentrate and Isolate with the Isolate my preferred choice. Which one is best in your opinion?...and are there any limits to how many times a day should you take it?
I use a liquid Multi Vitamin. You really don't want any type of pills. Your body barely retains any of them. Unless, the pills are more of a capsule with powder in them, like argine or cartinine.

Also, why did u cut away somethings you were going 2 say? like you start talking abt keytones and then the video blurs out and u start talking abt something else.. id like 2 hear everything u was gona say
because then the video would be 42 minutes long! i got to keep them in some sort of time frame. but if you want more advice ..just ask and ill end up making a video on it
alright so one question i have is that: If you workout a lot, and take a lot of protein supplements, does this pose the same risk to your kidneys, that a person just taking lots of proteins would have??
I was looking 4 som vids 2 help me study for my nutritional science midyear 2moro, and I have 2 say that u make some really good points and this vid helped me beyond just my test 2moro, cuz i eat a lot of proteins, i gotta cut down a bit because i dont want all that nitrogen affecting my kidneys.
3x 40 to 60 grams of protein a day is the best, 50 grams fat, 3 to 15 grams of carbs. Fast fat loss and lot s of energy feelings.
