They talk about Sevy being a magician with the wedges but in my opinion Lee is the best I've ever seen AND he is SELF TAUGHT!Which reminds me of my favorite Trevino line. When asked why he never took a golf lesson he replied
"when I find a teacher that can beat me I'll take a lesson" *LoL*
@CEO1451 No I haven't please post links you condesending fuck. Also might be worth sending them to Trevino but I doubt he would know how to look at them on a puter thingy.
I admit the guy was a good golfer but what he is saying is flawed. Like I said before, its a nice thought.
That munkin CEO1451 will probably agree that the best way to put spin on a check wegde (Pitch as most know it) is to compress the ball into the ground, right!?!?!
Have you tried that with a 56 deg wedge, trying to hit the ball into the ground. Muppets.
Slow mo shots again CEO? You have never seen any that do this unless they are topped shots.
@sandojp you know, he's right... to lee's credit though, ALL older players thought they were compressing the ball into the ground. you only need hit down on the ball enough to get the bottom grooves under the ball and hit the ball with the sweet spot. anything more you hit too high on the face and anything less you hit too low. now, i'm positive lee felt that way, but in reality, you don't feel impact until after the ball is gone.
as far as what he's saying about flippers? right as rain.
@BucktoothBob When did I say that? I just said your f'n moron, and you constantly keep proving it - and by the way, your swing if f'n awful as well - take your wilsons and shove them upyourass you absolutefuckingmoron
One thing that I would add to Lee's swing thoughts with the wedge is that it is mostly upper body action for the most part...the lower body is relativey still.
@sammoth1995 Big divot is right, because alot of the fairways the pros play are like hitting into a cream puff...lol. I grew up in Texas like Lee and the city(munis) courses were usually hard as a rock, so you had to be creative with the short game. Back in those days, on most city courses, fairways were watered by moving big sprinkers around. And greens were watered by hand mostly. One nice thing though is that when the fairways got backed out is that the ball would roll 50 yards or more.
Lee Trevino has exactly the right swing thought for a check wedge and any other iron for that matter. Alot of tips for hitting a check wedge...forget it ....listen to Lee!!!
so how do you check wedge?

What a player. DIrt poor Mexican from East Dallas creates his own swing to beat everybody, including Jack Nicklaus in the U.S. Open.
