@Sigfofosauer Lucky you! Can you please message me and tell me your opinions on it when you get it? I want one so so so bad, but I don't have that much money. I I get it, it will be my first DSLR ever!
Awesome uboxing video! i actually just got my frist DSLR the Nikon D3100 i guess its a good starter camera in the nikon series. I love it! and nikon is the best :D Maybe some day ill upgrade to a more professional one such as the d7000, but who knows aha... just wondering, do you recomend the tamron lenses? i want to get a lenses with a more maxmium aperture, i currently only have the kit lens 18-55 and the zoom 55-200mm let me know thank!
i can understand why you sound like that because i can feel it too, it's like i'm the one whose unboxing the camera. I'm so jealous. hope i can get that D7000 soon. thnx for your video..
@mischakaido in my opinion , this difference within simply semi pro and professional is smaller these days. d7000 is all everyone need. check out... freedslr . c0m change 0 with o and get the chance to win completely new Nikon D7000
So Im thinking about gettting this camera but wondering if the nikon lenses for the d300 will work on this d7000? I heard you say the body has a motor in it and you could use all the lenses and my d3000 has the lenses with the auto focus motor built into them so I was wondering how your d60 lenses worked out on it
@SpeedfreakGTR I would get this before Christmas or something better than this, honestly am not enjoying the canon I got. Canon 60d to be exact. planning to get something much more professional. Thanks though. maybe you could advise me more on this.
@Scrumterlescent Thanks. I'm deciding between this cam or the Pentax K5. I've read where these two cams are the best prosumer DSLR's out there. By the way excellent spontaneus review!
Thanks for viewing my video. Apparently you must care, as you watched it, along with 9,289 other people. And honestly, since I am not technologically challenged, it didn't take much time to make this video, but I can understand how someone could think it would take a lot of time. Perhaps next I can make a video explaining how easy it is to push "record." :)
I'm glad I saw your video, I'm new to photography and also upgrading from a Nikon D60 (my first DSLR) to the D7000 (once tax refund comes in - hehe). I loved being able to see them next to each other and that the D7000 has a little more bulk to it.
i loved your review on the d7000. im just like you, a girl who likes to take nice pictures. All the other unboxings and tutorials are slow and un-enjoyable. Do you think you can make another video reviewing the camera now that you've had it a couple months?
I had already purchased one at eBay but the seller was unable to ship it, and now I have purchased another D7000 at my local camera store by collect-on-delivery and hope they'll send it in time during my vacation in Bavaria. I compensated my desire to own this baby by several youtube unboxing videos for almost 2 months now. Damnit.
@Scrumterlescent Sorry for that looong delay. I have it since Dec 29th 2011. Amazing camera, all what I ever wanted! I bought the body only and already had the 18-200 VR I which I bought in advance on eBay. And I also bought the MB-D11 battery grip which I recommend a lot. You would'nt miss it if you once put it on.
Haha. The body used to be about 1080.00 EUR in late 2010. Now the prize fell down to 930.00 EUR.
haha i love the excitment, that said i think id be as excited if i had a d7000 also! im shooting a d90, great camera, and from what ive seen the d7000 is better yet again, great video, happy shooting!
Really like this video as i am really tired of the endless reports on specifikations, megapixels, focuspoints and what not. It is in my opinion much more importtant what the equipment feels like and how it handels.
Hi, I'm Sana from France, thank you for your spectacular video, I have a question: I wanna to buy one SLR and I had chosen EOS 60D and D7000, but it's very complicated I'm worry I can't choose between them, do you have any idea for me?
My suggestion is to go to a camera store and try them both out, see which one feels better. I did that and felt the Nikon was better for me, I also prefer their menu over Canon. Both, IMO, are equally good cameras and can produce spectacular images, they each have their own pros and cons. I personally havent used the Canon 60D so I can't say, but I can say, I love my D7000.
:( Honestly, I have barely used my video option.....I know crazy....I have yet to use it in low light conditions, it has been really hectic here, shortly after I made this video so I havent had a chance to do a lot of tests or a real review for that matter. But since you bring this up, I will test it and add it to the review!
Haha LOVE the excitement!!! I have discovered that the AF on my D90 is lacking and to date I haven't seen any reviews showing the AF SPEED of the D7000 and it's 39 points. When you do your review, could I ask you with your kit lens, to do a quick AF speed test? Like pre-focus at infinity, and using centre point, focus on something that is perhaps just a few feet away? A couple of different distances would be AWESOME! Thanks!
Sure no problem! I just want to say thank you all for being patient with me while I get the review up, with the holidays and my vacation and sicknesses, I havent had much time to make a good review. But I will do this!
I haven't used the video much, but I am going to test it with a few of my lenses to see which one performs better. Have you experienced any issues? Or were you just asking if I have?
I plan on replying to all comments, I'm currently on vacation( and have been for a couple weeks now) and only have access to the internet through my phone, and just barely!! I'll have a review up shortly after I get home in a couple weeks!! Thank you all for watching!!!
i think i've watched almost every D7000 unboxing video on youtube after watching yours, yet this is still my favorite. you really show your excitement!
can't wait to get mine, but i will have to wait until december..
The reason the camera is heavier, is that the D7000 is a professional grade camera, it's on a titanium alloy chasis, whereas the D60 is an amateur grade and made of plastic. Congratulations.
Yah I am a manual user myself, but I suppose since this a pretty affordable camera, a lot of consumers get it and need the auto modes. But to get the most from this camera, I've noticed, you need to go manual. Jmo. :)
Hey there. Thanks again for the earlier reply! really appreciate it! :) I am now debating getting the Tamron 28-75mm vs the 18-105mm kit lens since I started off with just a 35mm f/1.8 prime. But I'm curious do you ever need more wide angle for landscapes or the tamron has kept you very happy? And do you sometimes use a polarizing filter on your tamron and still get good results without too much light loss? I was thinking a polarizer would severely hamper 5.6 aperture of the 18-105mm kit lens.
aww thanks. :) Yah I do eventually.....but since I just got this, it now may be a while hahaha....but yes, in the future I do want to go full frame. :)
Now that you had your camera for awhile how are you liking it? I have a body on order at my local camera shop and can't wait to get it in. What for lenses are you using with the camera......
I'm really liking it so far, but noticing some differences I need to get used to, compared to my D60. I used the kit lens for the first time tonight, and I am not loving it, but maybe because I am used to my fixed aperture lenses? But I mainly use the 35mm prime, and my Tamron in the video. I have the 50mm 1.4 coming and I have a 70-300 that I use for other occasions. I have a few more on my wish list that I will be getting in the beginning of the new year, a few more fixed ap lenses.
Yea, I ordered a 50 1.8 with my body but would also like to get the 35. Other than that I was thinking of the Tokina 80-400, seems like decent lens for the price. But I was also thinking of the 70-200 which might be more useful. I love the fixed lenses, nice and fast with great sharpness......
Hey!! nice video i too up graded but only from a d5000... idk if its the lens or just my camera but i feel as if the pictures were sharper on my d5000?? and that lens hood is packed dumb in their lol mines pop out the box also but any way get back with on image quality thank you!
hmmm interesting, since you mentioned this, I did some google searching, and you appear to not be the only one. However, for me personally, I have seen no difference. Depending on what you go by (which article), it is basically saying the sensor out does a lot of the lower end lenses out there, thus creating a softer image. However, if using higher end lenses, you'll see an improvement. But like I said, I don't notice a difference. :)
@BMWALASKA At my place in europe they also don't have them untill november. The guy at my local store said, Nikon is having some issues with the camera.
Hey there! Congratulations on your new D7000. I am curious, with your tamron 28-75 being your workhorse lens, does it completely replace your 35mm f/1.8 prime lens or that prime still gets a good amount of use. I am curious because I just picked up a d90 and a 35mm f/1.8 prime to start shooting mostly low light/ intimate people portraits/ group shots and few landscapes.
Hello! Thanks for commenting on my video. I wouldn't say that my Tamron is my workhorse per se, it really depends on what I am shooting. I love my prime lenses, and am about to get another actually. I like the primes more for shooting portraits...the Tamron I use more as my walk around lens, and I have a long range zoom for landscapes I usually use too. So stick with your 35mm, it will do you well! :)
Honestly, why I went with Tamron, word of mouth. I have a lot of photographer friends and they have this lens and I heard only good things from them. I can't say anything personally over a Sigma because I haven't used that one, or know anyone who has. Sorry I cant be of more help.
Yah I could def see where that could be handy, but since I didn't have one before, I really didnt get used to having one and I am pretty ok with it not. Heck, I don't even use the live view!
;-) have a great week ahead ! Flickr Stepphan2733 - if u like roses .. I'm an unofficial Canon guy, until I saw the D7000..I'm sorta researching a bit, should I make the cross over to Nikon
I thought 1080p but then I saw the manual say i, but perhaps I looked at the wrong thing?? Thanks for letting me know, I'll remove the correction. Thanks!
Hope those 62 days fly by for you! When I first heard that Amazon wasnt releasing till 15 Nov I was like NOOOOO, but then said to forget Amazon and go with a chain electronic store here, Best Buy and got it early.
I have always loved photography and mainly shoot just my friends and family, but I am just now starting to really branch out into the public, so I have more subjects to photograph!
Thanks Leo, I have a shoot today and I am bringing that lens along. The D7000 is a big jump in controls from my D60, so it is something to get used to! I will link the pics when I'm done with them!
@Scrumterlescent Wicked. Please do post a video with some sample photos later. So excited for the internal AF motor, wicked high ISO capabilities (with little noise, so it seems) and those U-modes.
@Scrumterlescent D3000. I've only been shooting for about a year and a half, but I've advanced tremendously and feel like it's time for an upgrade already. I totally know what you mean when you say that the body simply isn't up the the lenses' abilities.
the video was informative but background light was bit high. in your next video u can avoid that. again thanks for the video

If you think about it. Show the FPS on that camera. I am in Alaska and Best buy doesn't have the d7K until November.. :(

Thanks a lot if you're able to reply!

@Vision20Twenty

Added you on flickr, I am also looking at either Sigma or Tamron lens 17-50mm, any reasons you went with Tamron instead of Sigma?
aidanhill 1 year ago
@aidanhill
Thanks! I commented on one of your pics!
Honestly, why I went with Tamron, word of mouth. I have a lot of photographer friends and they have this lens and I heard only good things from them. I can't say anything personally over a Sigma because I haven't used that one, or know anyone who has. Sorry I cant be of more help.

well that is nice of you hahaa, I don't get that very often anymore!

It would be better if you don't correct yourself, because it takes 1080p, not 1080i.
