Our engine (on the team in question) suffered. We had a steady drop of oil pressure for the rest of the race. By the end of the race we were running Mobile 1 20-50 with some of that STP stop smoke stuff consistent with tar.

@Chromedragon79 It actually is an interference engine. :V Bent a few valves but we bounced it off the rev limiter for the rest of the weekend, mostly because the driver didn't tell us that he did this (much less that he did it TWICE)
