When are you going to correct the information on the video? This is not a Thin Lizzy, as many have pointed out. It's a traditional Irish song. If you're going to post something, the least you can do is research the song to make sure the info. is correct.

at first i was like, this is shit. But then i'm like, hell ya! I may be crazy. I know i am but I'm pretty sure that COUNTRY COVER chic has the worst version of this song.
The King’s own story is as steeped in potential legend as the good lord Elvis himself. Born in the rough end of Belfast, married with five lovely children, the young King never even considered singing an option until he was reluctantly hauled on stage at a works karaoke.........etc
@sandinista112 potential legend? Don't make me laugh! Sure, people like an impressionist, (and he's not that bad) but if all the man is going to do is to try to walk in the shoes of a giant, he's going to get ridiculed, and slapped down like a 2 dollar whore all the time. If he truly is a new "legend" then he should try to stand alone, Oh, and truly, who cares how many kids he has? I think that relates to a talent OTHER than singing.. He's not the King.. never will be
@dennismarkam he doesnt he just says witch of the versions of the song Elvis covered because the liric is the Thin lizzy one! not the Dubliners Lyric or the Grateful Dead's Lyric....
to all the wanker that say this is shite lets here you fukin sing it better if you dont like it dont comment im sure the person who put it up dont need your crapy words
The singing work was great but the song was like a cheesed down Metallica version who suck harder than anything, except for the fiddle part which was ok.
First time I have heard of Jim Brown and he is a fine Elvis tribute singer. Really like his version of this classic tune and it's good for us Elvis fans to get an idea how Elvis might have tackled this. IMPRESSIVE.
@Mrchugchug3 i love when ppl r right ;) the song was also sold to a band i think it was mettalica(i know they sing it but im not sure its them who got but any way)do u live in Ireland?
The song's exact origins are unknown. A number of its lines and the general plot resemble those of a contemporary broadside ballad "Patrick Fleming" (also called "Patrick Flemmen he was a Valiant Soldier") about an Irish highwayman executed in 1650.

dude.... this is a super old irish drinking song.... the only covers that are close to the actual song are by the greatful dead, or the dubliners... metallicas version sounds cool but they fucked the lyrics beyond the point of repair.... elvis should have just stuck to what he was good at... heroin....
@MrBobdinlan And you have some problems with your ears. hi sounds like Elvis. stop looking at cartoons and listen mor to music then you will hear when someone have a great voice.
@MrBobdinlan this was a papaws fav singer and my papaw died 2008 i love this man he is the best so please stop making fun of him everytime i hear elvis i cry
This is way fuckin' better then Thin Lizzy version, more understandable then Metallica. But still not as good as the Dubliners early years version, ( they sound senile in the newer recordings).
This Elvis/Jim Brown rendition of a good solid ditty followed by '200-yr old poem vs Dubliners vs Thin Lizzy et al. debate' and 'Metallic/Dubliners/Grateful Dead/Thin Lizzy/etc. did the best version' make this a most entertaining link :)
I would have to put Thin Lizzy's version #2. I like Folk music, but I am also a Jazz bassist and guitarist, so, I guess that I am a little partial ;-). This version would have to be the worst fooking cover that I have ever heard, however!!!!!
Ok one opinion, I have been both jazz and rock and I think the bass is cool in this case. Sometimes it's good to have flare and feature a little bass. But I am more of a rocker so I can be biased. Jerry Scheff one Elvis bass players was busy check out the 69 elvis concerts. Les Claypool comes to mind from Primus who plays alot o bass.
Whiskey in the jar wasn't Thin Lizzy's Classic anything broski. It's an old Irish folk song. and tbh The Dubliners do the best cover of it, with Metallica coming in 2nd ;)
Ummm.... You are a dumbshit. This isn't Elvis, it's An Elvis tribute so why label it as Elvis? Also it's not " the Thin Lizzy classic" it's a classic Irish poem that thin lizzy took, changed words for no reason and butchered.

Absolutely nobody else can destroy a really good song like Elvis can. It almost sounds like disco, the worst musical invention ever. Even if it's just an impersonator.
I heard this song performed by Seven Nations in Kentucky about 20 years ago. I even bought a CD of Seven Nations that included this song. So when I saw Elvis sings Whiskey in the Jar, I had to check it out. When I found out that "Elvis" was an Irish Elvis impersonator, I nearly gave up on it. But I decided to give it a listen and am I glad! Jim Brown is pretty good. Too bad he is not so well known. Maybe YouTube can change that.
This is an outstanding cover of WITJ. There have been many great bands that covered this old folk song over the last 40 years that I remember, but my personal favorite version was The Grateful Dead
@gtz1975 Actually this is their version, similar to Metallica's cover they did for Garbage Inc, a tribute to Thin Lizzy. Lyrically its what Thin Lizzy sung.
@edkjeldsen hey fuckwad, Whiskey in The Jar is an old Irish folk song looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong B-4 Thin Lizzy was BORN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually the Dubliners made the song popular, but it's a traditional Irish folk song. They didn't write it. Having said that, this "Elvis" guy's a joke.
@truckermad2k9 the dubliners didnt write it either nobody really knows who wrote it. The dubliners was just another cover of the song like thin lizzy's was so the dubliers version is no more of an original than thin lizzy's was ;)
This is reeeeeaally different, but I actually like it. And the actual musical skills here are first class. Gonna listen to some more of this. Thanks for sharing.
would pp ere plz plz shut the hell up about mettalicca. No matter who sings this IRISH song. Ther name keeps on coming up.the just did a cover. And it wasent tat good.
This is actually a very old Irish folk song. Check out The Dubliners or Pogues if you want to hear what the original sounded like.

@truckermad2k9
Actually the Dubliners made the song popular, but it's a traditional Irish folk song. They didn't write it. Having said that, this "Elvis" guy's a joke.
TheKursed9 9 months ago
@truckermad2k9 the dubliners didnt write it either nobody really knows who wrote it. The dubliners was just another cover of the song like thin lizzy's was so the dubliers version is no more of an original than thin lizzy's was ;)
